    I'm pretty sure mine qualifies, as it started in 1981 and I had zero LEGO from then until about a year after the Star Wars sets started, so roughly 20 years.

    Given that, 6 months seems like a minor hiatus. Just sayin'...

    6 months or 20 years, does it matter so long as we are back in the "light" :)

    Heh. My Dark Ages lasted from about 1988 until 2014. Came out of it this past February when The Simpsons House became available, then I saw the Star Wars set and was immediately hooked. Set 7965 Millennium Falcon was the first Lego Star Wars set I bought, and now my home office is FILLED with Lego Star Wars sets. The only kind of depressing thing is that I've bought all the sets I really, really wanted, so now there isn't a whole lot for me to be shopping for.

    Still, I was glad when a little while ago I found a Home One Mon Calamari set MISB for only $79. A very nice, and I think under-rated, set.

    Found a 2770 Duplo Playhouse on eBay for 30. including shipping. It arrived in a monster of a box, the original from the late 80's. Missing only a couple of small parts and in excellent condition. After washing it, only a few scratches were noticeable.

    Also packed in the box was an 8 car Duplo train with 2 male figs and 6 old style figs from the same era. Looks like a 2705 Passenger Train with 6 extra cars with the engine and one passenger car. And another surprise was about 50 Tyco bricks, which go to the Salvation Army tomorrow.

    The funny thing is that while describing this set over lunch with my Dutch girlfriend, she laughed and said she had a 2770 in her attic! She bought it in 1989 for her three children before they came to the US. Now that is a miracle considering that this 1986 set was most likely not sold in the US, and we both own one almost 30 years later!

    Anyway it is a lovely addition to my Duplo collection and appears to not be available anywhere else.

    Not really a brag, more a random find - spotted an unusual coloured packet in amongst the many Series 11 Minifigs in my local Tesco, which turned out to be a Series 2 bag from 2010. It wouldn't go through the till, so when I explained to the cashier that it was old stock that probably wasn't on their system any more I got it free! (I did have quite a lot of other shopping). Turned out to be the Disco chap :)

    ^ So Lego is "free" once it is off Tescos system???? I suppose the drawback is you need to do a lot of shopping. (And hope you get the set for free...) While smaller sets are easy to hide and pick up 2-3 years later, larger sets will be a challenge...

    I know - I was quite surprised! I think the cashier just didn't want to deal with it - I explained it hadn't been stocked for four years, even told her the correct price, but the system wouldn't recognise it at all...

    Over the past few years, many people here have received LEGO for free from Tescos. In fact, most of those people have even been inadvertently paid by Tesco for relieving them of it.

    Got a bargain at my local car boot yesterday. 2 boxes for £5 that included the farm set with 2 cows, red tractor, camping car plus at least 3-4 other sets. The farm set sells for a high price so well pleased. Fun to build too.
    I also bought a Lego book for 50p with figure, but didnt get to read it as it sold for £7.50 a few hours later. I put a high price on it to discourage buyers, to no avail....

    On behalf of everyone in the UK, our great finds have included literally millions of brand new sealed polybags priced at £0.60, £0.90 or £1.50 over the past week! :)

    some of my finds include, 3367 Space Shuttle from Tesco for £5, 8404 Public Transport for £80 at TRU, was £100, used a 20% on it, and just the other day found about 3 boxes of Series 10 CMF in WHSmiths, so might go back there today to search through the bags to complete my collection, and for Mr Gold.

    Not too big of a deal, but I scored a 30057 for 4 cents. Thought that was pretty cool. The cashier didn't want to sell it to me, but it that's what it scanned for.

    Just picked up the last Mines of Moria #9473 from our local ToysRUs. It was reduced, plus £5 coupon = £44.99.

    Not a huge bargain, but not bad!

    A find of sorts, but I was looking through my "shopping" e-mails for something else and found a forgotten e-mail from very.co.uk offering me £30 off when I spent £60, and the expiry date was in 4 hours time! (This was on 30th Sept) As a result, picked up today 31026 for £35. I guess it is worth remembering about those junk type e-mails!

    Further examination & sorting of my haul revealed 7237 complete & 7890 Ambulance.

    Also, my wife nabbed a large garage sale box full of Bionicle (marked at .50/figure) for $5. Unsure about the popularity here, but my boys went nuts. I dont "get" Bionicle, they all look the same to me, & it's a b-tch cataloging them online using pics only.

    Not much of a brag but got the last #10224 TH at the CO. Mills store. The box is beat up pretty well but the GM did give 500 extra points plus I got the double VIP on top of that and the First of the Xmas sets too. Yay double VIP!

    Just got back from a long weekend a way, visited a shop in Weston-Super-Mare, (MT Games LTD), and got a sealed #10228 with a bit of bow damage, (see pictures), for £140.00, Haunted House has been selling for around £200.00 on ebay lately so I am chuffed with my find.

    Found some horses on the PAB wall at south coast plaza in Orange County California. Filled two large PAB cups and got 33 horses along with some random bricks to fill in the empty space.

    When me & the misses are down on holiday at Burnham the first place we go is Weston & I always make a B-line for MT games, (the wife waits at the cafe round the corner :P), they tend to have some of the bigger sets in there & some interesting 2nd hand Lego sets as well.
    I'd love a shop like MT Games in Salisbury where I live........

    Found a #79108 Lone Ranger Stagecoach at Target, out the door for $10.60 with Redcard. No idea where they found it but I am glad they did.

    Found the Town Hall for sale at NZD250. It wasn't advertised or anything, I just stumbled upon it online in what must have been a one-day unannounced sale, and quickly grabbed it.

    ^ For those that don't know what the encased bricks are......

    They are given to employees of TT Games if they have made a substantial contribution to the production of a title. Obviously these were issued after production of the Hobbit game.

    How did we get them? Well legitimately. Carl Greatrix https://www.flickr.com/people/bricktrix/ who many of us know in person and is a senior model builder at TT managed to secure them for us. As a rule they never leave hands of TT employees which is why it's very difficult if not impossible to find data on them being sold previously. We are so grateful to the management of TT for allowing us to use them for fundraising purposes and of course to Carl for asking initially.

    Value is anyone's guess with no previous benchmark. From a Fairy Bricks point of view we hope they appeal to the LEGO community obviously but beyond that have cross over appeal with gamers and Hobbit Fans to. With that in mind and after chatting with TT one will probably be sold now while the other will likely be held for a future raffle.

    I have no idea on the value and perhaps it will take an eBay auction to establish that but I'm open to offers if you would like to make one

    Picked up this "storage caddy" at Hobbycraft today for a fiver. Not massive, but just about big enough for a 400 piece set (eg #70805 Trash Chomper shown).
    Only downside is the trays don't seal up when closed. We'll see how it copes with a half built set on a car trip tomorrow.

    Edit: can't attach the image from my phone... I'll post it when I'm back near a pc ...

    My first classic Lego set, the 558 Mobile Crane. $15 with free shipping. It's missing a few parts including the fig, but I hope to replace those eventually.

    Looking forward to getting to build this beauty and putting it on display.

    You mean #76023. Hopefully the minifigs weren't removed.

    Flea market find today...
    For £40 we got 76 minifigs (City/SW, the star being K-3po), an almost complete #7662, a not very exciting but seemingly rare poly, #4911, almost complete #7678 and #8018 plus some loose bricks.
    Everything still shiny under a layer of dust.
