Woke up at 1:30 so decided to finish this little project. I recently came across a very good deal on a used Pet Shop so decided to build it mirror image to go with the one I currently had. I am also testing out curb and street ideas. I am thinking of taking the flimsy base plate off all my modulars and replacing it with 8x16 bricks (8 per modular!)to give me some curb height.

Tumbler done to the end of bag 3. Will do bags 4 and 5 (book 3) tomorrow, do book 4 Thurs (bags 6/7/8), and finish it on Friday. Next week i'll look into possibly doing a sprung suspension back end on it (front looks too fragile if on a pivot and sprung). Looks little to no chance of getting front steering working.

Rebuilding all my friends shops at 16 wide in modular style - inspired by a Eurobricks post I was reading yesterday. Anticipating building the Simpsons House on Saturday. It has been sitting in my Lego room for 6 weeks, but it is a birthday present, so have not been able to touch it - torture!

Book 5 to do for the tumbler tomorrow and then it's done. Didn't apply any stickers as I didn't trust myself to apply them straight with only one hand (left hand is stitched and bandaged following surgery on a trigger thumb on Monday).

How do Legos react with water? I was thinking of making a MOC Infinity Fountain with real water, with a sort of River Country theme to it.

    @ArtfulDodger‌ they leak.

Thanks @ecmo47‌ I am trying to get her finished before BrickCon in Oct :)
  • ecmo47ecmo47 North CarolinaMember Posts: 2,101
So how many 1x1 tiles are in a 48x48 inch square?
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Dunes of TatooineMember Posts: 3,639
10 inches equal 32 studs. So 48x48 inches is 153 studs x 153 studs = 23,409 studs (approximately because 48 inches is actually 153.6 studs)
  • jadedancjadedanc USAMember Posts: 1,303
This is just one 48 plate so it is 48x48= 2,304 studs
  • jadedancjadedanc USAMember Posts: 1,303
This one is 6 of the 48x48 plates so she's 13,824 studs total

The Legohaulic/MBL "Rhino". It's early done, as I have finally sourced two black space skeleton bodies for the hands.

Built 60052 and 60050 last night. Both are really nice sets and I can't wait to build all my other trains for the holidays and have one gigantic train setup.

Currently building cafe corner for my friends Christmas present, sourcing all the bricks has been great fun as I have managed to do it without using bricklink. Currently 3/4 of the way through the second floor just 5 more bricks needed so that I can complete this bit, will be trawling car boot sales this weekend

Building Imperial Hotel. On an Architecture set kick lately.

Just finished building #60052. It took me just less than 2 hours. I have to say, it's probably because it's a City set, but I'm a bit disappointed with it. The best I can really say is that it's got potential. Certainly it can't hold a candle to the Maersk Train. I'm going to modify it so that it is the length of the Maersk though, see how it looks then...

Right, the above modifications have been done, so the locomotive is now 6 studs longer than it was. Almost needless to say, it looks much better - much more in proportion.

Ignore the blue bits on the top (I don't have any black at the moment). And yes, I know I used a couple of Yellow plates rather than Bright Light Orange (again, I don't have any).

    After:

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it :)

^ Is the new cargo train actually a nice model then? They are usually pretty simplistic but I have been thinking about buying this one.

@CapnRex101‌ The trucks are, quite frankly, complete sh*te. There's nothing to them; they look like they've been thrown together by a LEGO intern in an afternoon. The only good thing about them is that there are a total of 10 wheel assemblies between them all. And a brown cow.

Actually, the forklift truck isn't half bad either, even if it does have a monstrosity of a moulded piece on it.

The crane was actually a very nice surprise - it moves in two directions, and is very smooth. It's quite basic, but it's a much better crane than in #7939 Cargo Train. I like it.

The locomotive is pretty decent tbh. It's nothing amazing as standard, but when it's modified as above (which is quite easy if you have the Maersk to compare it to - took me less than 2 hours) it's a decent little train. Obviously it's a City set, so it's not nearly as nice a build as the Maersk, but it's definitely better (IMHO) than the locomotive in #7939.

Basically, I bought it for the locomotive. I could see the trucks were sh*te before I bought it, and that the locomotive was too short, but I knew I could fix the loco, and I knew I'd break up the trucks for the train parts.

I'm not sure if that helps, but that's how I see it. Is it worth £140? That's for you to decide, but I paid quite a bit less than £140, so I'm quite happy with it.

I've had a bit of a building binge over the last week or so and done:
    Ultra Agents Infearno Interception
    GotG Knowhere Escape Mission
    X-Men Blackbird
    GotG Milano Spaceship
    DC Joker Steamroller
    and finally, tonight,
    Benny's Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP!!

I've enjoyed all of the sets, and of course the minifigs are brilliant but what an amazing set that last one is. I totally loved the build and the finished model is so awesome.

Still to build: Research Institute, Exo Suit, Jabbas Sail Barge, Delorean, Winter Village Market and Parisian Restaurant. But I think those will have to wait while I work on a couple of MOC projects.

Bought a #10196 Carousel off of Craiglist yesterday. My wife and I work on it until 10:00 PM. I went to bed and the wife could not sleep so she worked on it a while. I was up at 5:00 so I got in a couple hours this morning. Not done yet but it will be this afternoon after church. Cool set!

After ages looking around I managed to pick up a glass-fronted display cabinet at the weekend into which I've put all of my favourite superhero sets and minifigs. To add to them, I'm currently building my 'double DBC' - a double width Daily Bugle Showdown using two #76005 sets.

Working on several custom modular buildings at the moment. I'm almost done with a small laundromat and a modular style Krusty Krab from Spongebob Squarepants. I'm also working on a modern-styled 3 story townhouse with a side alley and an Octan Tower from the Lego Movie, which is more of a large scale, long term project.

Beside from building a custom Chima Lion Temple for Laval (with my son, 7), I've added some more Uruk-Hai to my Helm's Deep Diaorama. Hope, it's not to crowded now :)
Side node: I really liked Uruk-Hai with full armor. What a pity they only put two of them in the 9471 Uruk-Hai army. There are a lot of Uruk-Hai to sell now. At least, I got a decent amount of Elv archers. :)

I finally cracked open my 10188 Death Star. I am just about finished with box 1 (of 4) over the course of 2 nights around 3 hours each night. I thought I was missing a piece (!). I was very disappointed, but then I remembered that there was a loose piece in the box and I put it with the minifigures and extra parts from previous bags. WHEW! So far, even with a little bit of repetition, it has been a very fun build.

^ it is definitely a fun build. Watching it come together with all the little scenes in it is great. I may be in the position to have to rebuild mine at some point. Haven't been brave enough to open any of the boxes I packed with built sets from moving. Not going to deal with that till have somewhere to go with them. We'll see how well it survives.
