Lego Cars System Sets

WilkoWilko Member Posts: 3
Hi lego fans, this is my first post so be easy on me :)

I've just bought my first house and plan on putting some of my lego in the office, I am interested in the car sets, I currently have the Camper Van, Mini Cooper and will be purchasing the delorean, ghostbusters and of course the Batman Tumbler (can't wait for that one) my question is can you think of any other sets under the same principle past or present which I can add the collection

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

Wilko

There are tons of creator/technic cars (ferrari, lamborghini and generic creator cars). There is #10187 VW Beetle (rare) and #7784 Batmobile that fit along with the Mini, Camper and tumbler.

Picking up @graphite's point, a lot of the larger scale sets are in the "Racers" theme - so sets that are perhaps more "system" than technic like are #8142 , #8143 , #8169 and #8214

Don't forget about the VW Beetle if you can stomach the cost. It is a spectacular set to display.

I did forget about the Beetle, agree with pricing though it's a tad high, I'll haven't admit I'm not a huge Technik fan

there are also some great sets not based on real cars that are still very realistic. #5893 is a good one along with #6752.

There are also the Disney Cars sets too. Maybe not. :-)

I'd also leave the DeLorian too. The money is better spent elsewhere.

My favourite car related set has to be #8169-1 just a great looking model and would look great displayed, shame they are so expensive to get hold of now :( Most of the list above are now discontinued but can still be found on Bricklink and Ebay if you have the money. The Lambo set on Ebay is £200 !!!

Have you ever thought about the 1970s Hobby Sets?

These were designed before the explosion of specialty parts in the last 20 years, and show some very nice designs... my favorite is the 396 Thatcher Perkins, a Wild West train locomotive...
