^To your point, that's where I had to order mine from. The shipping was steep, but I just figured they were never coming to the USA (like Hawkeye and other misc polybags).

Would Lego really sell out of the exo suit so soon, didn't it just get released?

If this was a limited number release it is possible. Alot of resellers bought them in larger quantities betting it would be a limited number release like Mars Rover. You can still cart it on [email protected] with a month wait time so I am not sure what the real story is.

If you want one to build I would buy it now just to be safe but it is entirely possible it may be around for 2 years yet. Only time will tell.

Anyone have any idea whether the Batwing polybag #30301 will be available in the USA? If not, it might be prudent to grab one now while you can...

They have been available in the US at TRU. I bought several from the online site and traded them to other bricksetters.

It's funny bc I had zero issues getting the Batwing poly, but the Tumbler poly (which seemed to be widely available everywhere else) never showed up in my area at all.

Well it is not licensed, and lets face it, it is more desirable than a rover. The only 'unique' parts I think for this are the green space figures.
Is anything possible? Sure, but I have a feeling it will be around for a while.
I would say if you want one, buy one now to ensure you have one, but I'm tempted to hedge my bets and see if this appears on Amazon, if it does I'm guessing it will be around for a while.

Apparently, the store near me sold out yesterday and the employee there didn't think they would get more, so I bought one from Lego.com just in case, thanks @doriansdad.

LOL...we have nothing but Tumblers (by the dozen at our local Target). I may just go ahead and grab some extra Tumblers to use for trading to get the Batwings, Spider-man, etc. that I can't seem to find.

On the U.S [email protected] site the GE is showing as shipping wayyyyyy into September; while the TB and even DS are showing as OOS and shipping later in August. Certainly coming to the end for more than a set or two by years end I assume?

I would say HH, GE and TB are on their way out , as well as the VW Bus and DS (likely the spowith camel as well)

    DS countdown?
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Two of the LEGO stores in my area don't have DS (or so it appears) but they have a fake plastic box thing in the shelf space that has the front of the DS box in it. So my guess is they think they'll be getting more and wanted to hold the space. Thought it was funny because most of the time I just see them fill the spaces with other stuff for the time being.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ this is actually somewhat normal. They probably keep the DS's in the back. Putting them on the floor almost always results in significant box damage.

The big, heavy box of the Death Star does not sit well on a shelf as the weight causes it to bow, and it fares even worse when handled by countless customers.

The box was likely a placeholder, and if someone were interested in buying it, they would take a fresh one from the storeroom. That's how I've seen it used at my local stores.

It sounds like you didn't verify that they were indeed out of stock, so my guess is that they actually had some on hand. Even if it wasn't on hand, it can be ordered on [email protected], and they'd be motivated to leave it up for display so they get (partial?) credit as the point of sale.

edit: doug wins. no problem admitting defeat... when it actually happens ;)

^^^^ I wasn't trying to buy one. I have a few already. Was just noticing it. Of all the times I visited all the Chicago area stores I always saw the actual set on the shelf so the fake box just surprised me.

I think it is a fine set and should do ok in the Aftermarket. I think that one needs to time when they sell perfectly, before a new one is released.

Millennium Falcon Is in the SWE7 movie coming out in 2015 and would probably be in other SW movies to follow so I would think that you will see a Falcon sooner rather then later

Based on this LEGO could go one of two ways:
Discontinue the MF now in preparation for a new updated Falcon for the new movie release next year .. or.. keep the original out for another 1-2 years to sell during the next release.. I'm thinking it would be the former, as the MF is likely to change for the next movie and may have 'older' Han and 'older' Chewy it in.
But even if the 7965 does get EOL, you will have a small window to sell them as the next one would probably be out shortly.
  • piratemania7piratemania7 Member Posts: 2,146
And there have been several versions of the MF correct? Forgive me if I am wrong I am no SW expert; but wouldnt this detract from the current versions overall future prospective value?
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
If the next is based on Episode VII, with its characters, there may be demand for #7965 as the most recent set based on the OT.

This is what I said previously. The new MF will most likely be packaged with minifigures from the new movies.

  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
I don't see #7965 lasting until Winter 2015. I think that Lego will be releasing sets all from the new film. So that means there very well could be a new Falcon model but it will not be the same.
  • arl100arl100 Member Posts: 35
I remember reading on a post, many weeks ago, that there was possibly a new UCS Falcon due out in Spring 2015. Plausible, as 7965 has been out a while and a Falcon is needed to tie in with the new films.

That would be surprising. I think they'll want to capitalize on the hype with a relatively affordable (~$150) System-scale set, based on the new films, targeting the average consumer.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,459
If they were to do a UCS MF to tie in with the new films would it be based on the falcon as it appears in OT or the new films? Would there be a noticeable difference or would it just look like a remake of the old UCS Falcon?
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ If they remake it I'm sure they'll add like 400 flick fire missiles, at least 20 of those rubber tipped spring-loaded things, and another 20 of those new spring-loaded ones with the trans-red missiles.

It would be half the piece count of the original for the same price.

In twelve months time DS has gone and a new very large MF with play features replaces it at about £350. No inside info but just my expectation.

Exactly my point any new UCS Falcon is unlikely to change peoples opinion of the original for the worse. I think it's massively unlikely to happen, I think if they were to put out a UCS version of a ship from the new films it would most likely be something new to the franchise rather than something thats already been done in the line.

There are many dynamics in play. There will still be those not in the know that another version is in the pipeline. There will still be collectors who want previous versions, particularly if they don't consider the redesign as good. What you lose are the people in between that are content with any version and would naturally opt for the current one at retail price.

There are many instances where previous versions hold their value nicely and don't nosedive simply because of a newer redesign. #6211 and #8129 were refreshed this year, yet they're still doing well.

^If Lucas was writing SW VII, the old folks (Han, Leia, Luke, Chewie, etc.) would be killed off in the very first scene by exploding the MF while it was flying in to the rescue. In fact, maybe that's how Harrison Ford got hurt during filming...standing too close to the MF when it detonated. Hence, a new MF built by the old folks prodigies so Lego could get a new Falcon.

Well, that's what came to mind anyway...

In the year 3000 in a galaxy far, far away whilst flying to the rescue, the millennium falcon suffered from the millennium bug and exploded, taking out all the high paid actors, I mean all the well known characters before they appeared on screen again saving millions on the wage bill, here's what happened after.

    Episode VII...
