Desert Island Lego

Dum de dum de dum de dum, dum de dum de da da...

Oh, hang on, that's "The Archers"

/fiddles around with tape machine and put on correct theme tune

Welcome to this first episode of a new series we're calling 'Desert Island Lego', which in no way rips off a popular and long-running Radio 4 programme.

It's a simple premise. You are (theoretically) stranded on a desert island, but serendipity intervenes to make your isolation slightly more enjoyable, as you are able to take:

Five Lego sets of your choice
One book
One luxury item

In addition, every castaway is given a brick separator and a 48x48 stud baseplate.

What will you choose?

    I think I would take...

    #10179 UCS Millennium Falcon
    #8110 Technic Unimog
    #8880 Technic Supercar
    #10664 Creative Tower
    #21050 Architecture Studio

In addition, my book would be 'The Complete Calvin & Hobbes', and luxury item would be a beach towel.

    I'd go for:

#10189 Taj Mahal - size / time to build / later for parts
#10179 UCS Millennium Falcon - as above
#10188 Death Star - as above plus play value
#10210 Imperial Flagship - to remind me what I should be looking for
#10664 Creative Tower - so I can write HELP on the beach in large colourful letters

    > In addition, every castaway is given a brick separator

Just one? I want two. Fortunately there is another one in Creative Tower.

Book - I'd go for something like "Worldwide Edible Plant Guide".

Luxury item would probably be a big box of kitchen matches.

#10143 Death Star II - Mainly to admire is grandeur.
#10179 Millenium Falcon - Once again, for admiration purposes
#10221 Super Star Destroyer - Same as above
#10030 Imperial Star Destroyer - My favorite ship in the entire Star Wars Universe
#10664 Creative Tower - Let my creativity run wild.

For a book, I'd bring the book on making functional guns from Lego with hopes of hunting. I had a link, but removed it for the sake of the choice language in the title.

My luxury item would be my camera. I would photograph all my creations in the natural elements and somebody would find my camera one day and see the pictures. Hopefully they could gather that I loved Star Wars and valued creativity. Perhaps they may surmise I was a nice guy too.

I would bring 5 of the floating cargo ships, and hope their combined buoyancy will get me to the mainland.

Seriously though, I'd probably go with:

    10179 Falcon
    10196 Grand Carousel
    10188 Death Star
6285 Black Seas Barracuda (the surroundings would be ideal of course)
    6277 Imperial Trading Post

A good mix of a good build, and good playability.

Oh and my book would probably be Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and my luxury item would be a swiss army knife.

I would bring 5 classic pirate sets, the book I don't want to say and a yacht. :P What do ya think of them apples?

I would, as everyone else has, bring:
    #10179 UCS Falcon

    and then bring

    #10221 Super Star Destroyer
#9474-1: The Battle Of Helm's Deep
    #G577-1: Vikings Chess Set
    #10223-1: Kingdoms Joust

Book it is a toss up between Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or Three Musketeers.

Luxury item would be an ipod.

    Umm

    My five sets would be:
    10179 UCS Falcon
    10188 Death Star
    76023 UCS Tumbler
    10236 Ewok Village
    60060 Arctic Icebreaker

My book would be the complete Song of Ice and Fire (assuming Mr Martin ever actually finishes it and it counts as one book)

My luxury item would be the worlds largest roll of toilet paper :)

Luxury item would be an ipod.

Electronics - good for a few hours and then a useless reminder of how reliant we are on electricity.

Shame that solar charger would count as a second luxury. :-)

^ Yeah, well my yacht would have a solar panel. :P
