    All I want is the blacksuit Batman, works great as a Arkham game variant. Already have 7888 which is still the best Tumbler in LEGO form IMHO.

    I'm very impressed with the set based on the photos so far - my first thought was that I would definitely be buying/building this, even though my collection is mostly paired down to the modular series.

    I think the Tumbler is a "messy" design overall, and difficult to not look too confusing in LEGO form. The designers - to me - did an incredible job of getting the feel of it right, even if I can nit-pick tiny details that seem off. Also: it's LEGO, we can always modify!

    And it goes without saying that The Joker minifig is amazing. Worth $200 by itself?!

    For £160 id expect it to come in a nicely textured lift off lid box, although i highly doubt it.

    Have a feeling its just gunna be one of those normal horrible glossy licensed boxes

    Looks like we have to wait till september to see the box illustration?

    @Legofanscott I thought all of the big sets in Europe had fold-open boxes, or did they stop that?

    Is there any chance that this will be a limited run? Like the Falcon. I am trying to decide whether to hold off until later. It is the 75th anniversary of Batman this year I believe, trying to make sure I do not miss the boat here.

    The Nolan version of Ra's al Ghul would be quite generic looking, so I think Joker was definitely a better choice for this, and hopefully we might get a more traditional looking Ra's at some point in a smaller set.

    Only boxes like that are the technic sets, everything is side opening.

    ^ Doesn't the USC MF open from the top? And, the Curiosity Rover opens from the top. Not sure if those examples are appropriate.

    yeah the mf does, but i was talking about sets currently in production for regular/licensed sets.

    If they made it like a ideas set it would be cool!

    Or something similar to the Transformers Masterpiece boxes, but with the batman logo flowing off the side.

    I've changed my mind: immediate purchase. I'm gonna have to find a MOC Batman figure to bricklink and build to place inside it. Any idea what size to be looking at for this? Maybe a cube dude Batman? :)

    @monkeyhanger: yes should be VIP early access 8/15-31 from what I have seen, official release 9/1. I am guessing it will be on a lot of Holiday lists. Be good!!!

    15th Aug? Any new polys to go with or will we still get a mini mini? I will have to buy and build quickly as I'm having an op on my clicky (trigger, I believe is the term) thumb on the 18th.

    I'm kinda hoping they allow early access to that white spaceman fig. If they don't, I will wait until September.

    White spaceman will be coming with my UCS Slave I if it's a Sept freebie. Any pics of the Slave I yet? They've done well to keep it under wraps thus far.

    I have just looked at the US catalogue posting. 18th Aug according to that. I'll have to get it post-surgery and build it one handed.

    Is that happening? I would think they would want to reveal it early and build some hype before releasing another expensive set.

    ^ if the pattern from the past several years holds, there should be an exclusive Star Wars set released on October 1. All rumors up to now have that being a Slave 1. But you are correct - we haven't seen anything official as of yet. When did the official unveiling of the Ewok Village occur last year?

    Okay good. They need to space these things out. My wallet can't handle all the awesome new sets Lego keeps putting out. I am crossing my fingers that the new Ninja Turtles movie sucks so I'm not tempted to buy those sets too XD

    Not sure about official but was being talked about as early as Feb 2013

    Although there has been a lot of talk about it being Slave-1, Lego are obviously doing a better job this year at keeping us waiting. EV was as good as confirmed 6 months before release.

    ^ agreed. They've actually done a better job of keeping the exclusives under wraps longer across the board this year. I looked back, and it seems as though official pictures of the EV came out in June, though it released on September 1 last year. If the Slave 1 releases on October 1, then a comparable announcement would have been sometime in July, which obviously didn't happen. I'd expect it sometime in the next few week though.

    ^ Ewok Village was Sept 1st for everyone, with 2 weeks early access for VIP's so mid August.

    I've been waiting years for a Slave I to become a UCS set. these rumors which started as far back as last summer are driving me insane. so I am praying for Slave I, if it fails to happen this year then the tumbler will move in for a fall UCS for me (Sandcrawler took summer/spring)

    Lego! do you hear me? Make a UCS Slave I, Minifig scale, WITH Interior. I am begging you!

    Box art does look good, but kinda wished for a more high quality fancy box design like #41999. But boy am I looking forward to building this. It looked simply massive in person at SDCC, much more than the pics convey.

    While it would have been nice to get a nicer box with movie scenes or the likeness of Batman and Joker I think licensing, having to pay actors etc. probably would have made the set prohibitively more expensive.

    Well, going by what Lego said about Star Wars UCS packaging being redesigned i thought the same might be true for everything else.

    I don't know exactly what you mean. First of all, I don't understand how the ordinary Super Heroes branding is "cheap-looking". I think it's quite nice.

    But second, this packaging IS different from the regular Super Heroes packaging. Batman in the upper right corner has been redrawn in the costume exclusive to this set. The logo in the lower right corner is the logo for "The Dark Knight" rather than Batman or The Dark Knight Rises as previous Batman sets have had. The background for the top banner and the border on the back of the package has a gritty texture unlike the comic-book panels that form the backdrop for sets like #30300 or the generic skyline that forms the backdrop for 2013 sets like #10937. The backdrop for the set itself on the front of the package has dramatic mood lighting. The backdrop for the set itself on the back of the package features the brightly-lit Wayne Industries "showroom" from the movie trilogy. Also on the back is a banner featuring blueprints/schematics of the Tumbler from different angles.

    All in all, even if you consider the regular Super Heroes packaging fairly run-of-the-mill, this new packaging turns the classiness up several degrees (resulting in something way more classy than the original UCS Batmobile). It's not as stupidly pretentious as the packaging for the original #7181 and #7191 that started the whole Ultimate Collectors Series (seriously, what marketing genius thought it was a good idea to hide the actual colors of the sets?), but like #75059 earlier this year, it shows a great level of creative effort and dedication from the packaging designers.

    kez: Day 1 order for me. I'm having an op on my trigger thumb next Monday. If I was able to drive (which I won't be for probably 2 weeks) then i'd be straight down to the Metrocentre to pick one up. I probably wouldn't be able to build it with one good hand though. Will probably order through [email protected], sometimes box condition isn't all it should be at the Metrocentre store, at least i'll get a mint one in a shipping box and will probably have it arrive on Weds 20th,

    How many of you will be using these instructions to make a camouflage version of this UCS Tumbler? I will give it a shot will love to have both side by side.
