Heck I'm surprised that another AT-AT has not be released yet by LEGO, they are a bit due for one.

It's coming in the next month or two...thats why you're seeing these clearances. ;)
That is the other point. as many people likely stack these.. then hope they increase in price, and you have to hope they do before the next version comes out which will then cause the last version to plummet in price (like with most SW sets)

If the Falcon appears in Episode 7 (likely will) then you will likely see set in stores that once the movie is out. LEGO would be crazy if they do not have a Falcon out when the movie is released, UCS, or other-likely one geared toward looking like it would in Epi 7.

Hmm. I'm bored, and there's another Target down the road. I might make a trip.

I also scored a Battle of Smallville from my local store (only 30%, though. Not 50%).

^ I have question though: are the original trilogy films now considered prequels?

Wouldn't an original trilogy always be considered the "original" trilogy?

  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Yes. Just because the OT comes before the new ones in a timeline doesn't mean they become PTs. It has to do with the release or how they were written originally. The new ones are sequels to the OT. So I guess ST will be how we refer to them?

On another note, I found a Target that had a bunch of Architecture sets.

    50% off
    #21006 white house
    #21011 brandenburg
    #21013 big ben
    #21003 space needle

I think it was 30% off
#21000 willis tower (might have been 50% but i didn't buy any)
    #21008 burj khalifa
    #21012 sydney opera house

Never seen architecture at Target and didn't see any at any of the others I went to on my drive home.

I went on Thursday and found the Republic Gunship for 30% off... I was at a different Target on Saturday and saw it for 50%, so I bought it and then immediately returned it and got my $30 back. WIN!

On Thursday, I had my wife check the local Target and there was nothing on clearance. Then around 11am today I decided what the heck and went to that same store. Lo and behold red clearance tags everywhere but not on what I wanted. So I wound up calling and driving to other Targets in the area (St. Louis) and finally scored. Don't be afraid to call. I was able to skip three stores that way.

Matthew I am in St Louis as well, I went to Bridgeton and was able to get the A-Wing and Madelorian Speeder. I went to Town and Country last night and they had nothing on clearance at all. What stores did you hit up? I don't need the MF or Gunship but I would still like to get the Duel and Battle for Smallville. Thanks for any help.

Note that with the Millennium Falcon being in Episode VII, there will almost assuredly be another one put out in the next couple of years, though likely not with this set of figures. My guess is that is why this older model showed up again last year - they were biding their time with this one until the next one is ready to replace it.

But will the next MF be a UCS rehash perhaps? I think there's a real possibility of that. Now, it'll be 75% less in mass, I would guess.

Duel on Geonosis was available at the Target at Mid Rivers / 94 for 50% off. I should have picked up a few of those, but I already own it. I didn't see Smallville, but I wasn't looking for it. I believe that the Town & Country or maybe it was Ballwin (same store) said that they were going to be doing the clearance this week.

Anyone think there will be another markdown on these? There are about 10 Smallville sets untouched at 50% off, and I'm wondering if they'll go any lower.
  • norm103norm103 Member Posts: 302
New stuff will drop this week mostly city sets
The cargo line and a few other set too
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,482
Tonight I saw some fire and cargo city sets on sale for 30% off, as well as the SW Headhunter (?), the Superman set with Lois Lane, the small coast guard pickup with boat, and some that were mentioned before. I also bought 10 copies of Cloud Cuckoo Palace for 30% off.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
This morning all the City Cargo stuff (big plane, the smaller plane with the logs, the truck with forklift) were 50% off as well as the current fire station and the stunt plane set.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
@bumblepants - was that a new discount that had been applied to different sets since the last time you had visited the store?
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
    ^yes
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
@Bumblepants‌ - Thanks, guess that means a trip to Target today.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
Yeah I think I will hit up the other ones to see if I can find a Cloud Cuckoo on clearance like @Russell844 did

I'm really hoping some of the new Batman sets drop next week; that's a lot to wish for, isn't it?

Also, contrary to my expectations, all 10 of the Smallville sets were still sitting at 50% off.
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
These were the new clearances at my local store:

    50%:
    #4437 Police Pursuit
    #60003 Fire Emergency
    #60020 Cargo Truck
    #60022 Cargo Terminal
    #60025 Grand Prix Truck

    30%:
    #70806 Castle Cavalry
    #75015 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid
    #76006 Extremis Sea Port Battle
    #76009 Black Zero Escape

    25%:
#76008 Iron Man vs. The Mandarin

@Bumblepants, if these were not for prizes for our LEGO convention next month I would save one for you. I'll keep my eyes out for more and let you know if I find any.

all the clearance at my store is at a paltry 30%
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
@Bumblepants‌ - I was just at my Target and I think they had one Cloud Cuckoo Palace at 50% off. I have no interest in the set. I'm going to be swinging back to that Target again on Saturday though, if they still have it would you like me to pick it up for you?
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
I was hoping for some cloud cuckoo palaces at my targets too, but no luck. Still MSRP. I've held off on buying most of the LEGO Movie sets waiting for sales. Hopefully I won't regret that.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
@pharmjod‌ - Which ones did you go to? If I recall correctly, you're in the Lexington area as well.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
@samiam391 I appreciate the thought but by the time you mail it I think that would wipe out most if not all of the savings. I am confident the numerous Walmarts and Targets around me will come through with a good clearance deal sooner or later on it. I don't need it until Christmas anyway.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
@Bumblepants‌ - I figured shipping costs would ruin it to, but there was no harm in asking :o)

Best of luck, hope you find it!

As was stated above...I had a few different. Two Targets...some were different discounts.
These were the new clearances at my local store:

    50%:
    #4437 Police Pursuit
    #60003 Fire Emergency
    #60020 Cargo Truck
    #60022 Cargo Terminal
    #60025 Grand Prix Truck
    #60027 Monster Truck Transporter
    #60004 Fire Station

    30%:
    #70806 Castle Cavalry
    #70401 Gold Getaway
    #70402 Gatehouse Raid
    #70806 Castle Cavalry
    #75015 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid
    #76006 Extremis Sea Port Battle
    #76009 Black Zero Escape
    #60019 Stunt Plane
a lot of other cheap ($19.99 or less) City sets

    25%:
#76008 Iron Man vs. The Mandarin

I didn't end up getting that much. 1 Cargo Terminal for $49, 2 Monster Truck Transporters for $14 and a couple #76006. I passed on the Fire Stations. I'm Fire & Police drained...plus the kids don't care that much for them so that's easier on the pocket book.

A LUGmate found 50% clearance at two Targets in the area. Between Madison and SE Wisconsin, we have about 10 Gorzan's Gorilla Strikers for a LUG draft.

I found one Target that still had Millennium Falcons, but only at 30%. Some CHIMA and City on sale as well, but no Movie or Super Heroes sets...which are my primary interest at this point.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
I found a Fire station at a Target tonight that had the red sticker over the bar code that said "As Is $50.06". They had 2 but only one had the sticker and they wouldn't honor it on the 2nd. They claimed that one of them probably had been around a while and got the sticker, then another came in so it was "new" and couldn't have it. I was like whatever and just took the one.
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,482
^ The one with the sticker on the barcode was likely an online return.

@‌ icarus. Love that your LUG will draft the Target finds you and your LUGmates come across. Parts drafts are one of my favorite activities we do as a LUG.

That's our primary motivation for clearance on small-medium sized sets. I don't mind stashing a few bigger ones for my own collection, but we are always on the lookout for high quantities of $40-50 sets on clearance. We did the wargs set last fall the same way. Having like five people out hunting for deals certainly helps as well.
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 820
Awesome. We've drafted lots of sets but it's usually one of us supplying them for the whole group. Going hunting today for 50% off sets. Hopefully I find in quantity so they can be drafted by the LUG.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,837
Still leery of such clearance sets for collecting. If I can compare their weight to another box of the same set, fine, but if not, I just worry there is garbage in the box, or missing pieces. I cannot really build a lot right now so I usually have to have them sit, so I need to know if they are pilfered boxes or not.

I like the idea if you are in a LUG and need pieces though, because you are likely to open them right away (and find any deception) and it is a great way to get cheap parts and figures.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
Found a different Target that had the #60020 Cargo Truck listed for $29.99 instead of $39.99 so the 50% off took it down to $14.98. They had a bunch of stuff left so I plan on going back in hopes of 70% next week.
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 820
@‌Bumblepants I would always wait for greater than 50% off markdowns at all of the Targets in the area but for the past year plus there is rarely LEGO left past 50 and a lot of the good stuff goes at 30 off. Harder and harder to get deeper discounted LEGO and it isn't because I'm not "Target Hopping" as I like to call it.

We have managed to have a single person find enough copies of a set in the past to do a draft, but they are usually smaller sets. It's very rare though because we usually need at least 10 copies of a decent-sized set to supply what we need for a LUG draft.

Found a different Target that had the #60020 Cargo Truck listed for $29.99 instead of $39.99 so the 50% off took it down to $14.98.

I had the opposite experience. One of my Targets had the "regular" price on the clearance sticker higher than MSRP (and the shelf price, which was still there), so the 30% off price turns out to be like 15% off, sigh. Very sneaky.

  • thenosthenos Member Posts: 444
^ yep, seen this at two different stores now.
  • minicoopers11minicoopers11 Member Posts: 104
^^ can confirm as well. 60004 and 60022 at "50% off" for $54.98.
  • jediami65jediami65 Member Posts: 474
visited 3 Targets recently in NJ and 1 in Middletown, NJ always has prices above MSRP so the 30% is not really 30%. They started that with SW figures and have done the same with Legos and other toys now.
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
#60020 at 39.99 and only 30%, so not a good deal. only saw a few chima on 30%
  • PoochyPoochy Member Posts: 479
Dropped by another one today that had no Lego on clearance at all (confirmed with the price scanner).
  • odshowtimeodshowtime Member Posts: 49
Man I missed the boat this time I went out on Sunday and thank goodness I did find a Homing Spider Droid at 30% so I can feel like I got something. I've been to three other Targets in Tampa/Clearwater and they are all tapped out. It seems like the golden era of discounts has definitely passed. I saw nothing at 50%.
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
FYI, it's Thursday but I'm not seeing any reports online of 30% level stores going to 50% off. I stopped by my local store anyway and didn't see any discounting activity.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
Hard to discount anything more at my stores, all the red-labeled shelves are empty.
  • DadsAFOLDadsAFOL Member Posts: 617
Hit 4 stores this morning in south OC. Found one lonely #70402 Gatehouse raid with a second markdown to 50% ($14.98) so I grabbed it. No Castle at any of the other 3 stores, so I'm not sure if that was a fluke, or if it all got marked down and swept away. Did see a couple new things marked to 30% -- #41003 Olivia's Foal marked to $6.98, #75016 Homing Spider Droid marked to $20.98
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
My local store didn't have anything new on clearance today.

I'm a bit surprised they haven't clearanced more. The LEGO aisle is essentially full but they haven't yet stocked things such as City Arctic and Ultra Agents, and I assume will soon be stocking the new Chima and Star Wars.
  • starfailurestarfailure Member Posts: 138
when are the new Star Wars sets due anyway?
