    :-O Congratulations @xeeeej but why are the shopping threads not full of tip offs from you. :-)

    A fair question. I do/will post anything that is readily available to the masses.

    I've been looking forward to xeeeej latest mega-bargain super-score updates, but I doubt we'll see any shopping thread tip offs as I believe his method is some sort of closely kept secret system which probably doesn't rely on conventional store sales... but just as he was about to explain a little of his 'trade secret' with me in a pm (having established my credentials as having zero threat, from another country, and that i don't sell) the conversation sadly ended. D'oh! :o]

    LOL. :oP

    (I'm still utterly clueless how he does it... but still interested to know, @xeeeej hint hint ;oP ).

    I don't mean parts being resold, I mean parts being bought and made into custom sets...

    Oh my, this just got complicated. So now we are selling MOCS from the sets we buy? That's actually not a terrible idea it like how artists make money you buy the paint for $40 you buy the canvas for $10 bada bing bada boom you sell it for $1000 (given your good at painting or MOCing in this case)

    As of May 30th I consider my cash position to be £0 and my Inventory to be £682.

    In USD that would be $0 cash and $1,141 inventory including the $160 seed money from the beginning of the challenge which I will continue to leverage.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

    Oops! Missed the last Friday of the month.

    Cash £30.98
    Stock £299.97

    Not doing much reselling at the moment, and probably won't do much in the next couple of months. I'm currently abusing various uncooperative pieces of my car (Basil Fawlty clip please @legomatt ;o) ) and have two weeks to re-plumb the house before the school holidays kick in and my time is no longer my own.
  • legomattlegomatt Member Posts: 2,543
    ^ Would love to oblige, @scrumper but I'll have to get back to you on that as I'm currently making crepe paper flowers... in fact I should be doing it right now... (but I'm having a tea break).

    (Everything stops for tea in England).

    No change this month (gave up and replaced the car, house in pieces and slow progress with the plumbing. Hopefully normal service will resume in September)

    Poor reseller challenge - abandoned! Anybody ready to post the final tally?
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
    @xeeeej‌ You're right and my apologies for that, I've not kept on top of this with one thing and another.

    How about everyone sends me their totals, via pm and I'll publish a final league table.

    To make up for my slackness I'll personally provide the winner with a special prize.
  • legogregorslegogregors Member Posts: 402
    I am still tallying and will likely take until 11:59pm on December 31st:) Good luck everyone!

    Since my inventory has been depleted and I'm sitting on a pile of cash, I've sent in my totals to Kev. I know I didn't win the challenge based on some of the above updates, but I do know who did win, and that's the kids.

    Thanks for putting this on Kev!

    Been slack with this too and it slipped my mind. I'm still sitting on two Haunted Houses which I need to sell. I'll probably get the ball rolling on that around New year (not much point trying to sell between now and New Years).

    I know I won't be winning so I'm sure no one will mind me dipping into 2015 :)

    How is the "most profit" calculated? Is it just the person with the most money wins or is it the person with the highest percentage net profit from initial investment? If it's the latter of the two it would make for a more interesting challenge, IMO.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
    Everyone invested the same at the start so the two should be equal
  • scrumperscrumper Member Posts: 317
    Merry Christmas everybody...and on Christmas day I finally find time to return to the forum, unfortunately life has been so hectic that I still have the same stock I had 6 months ago so am sending an optimistic estimate of the profit I hope to raise when I sell it. Well done to all involved.

    Totals coming soon?
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
    As soon as is possible. Obviously it's a busy time of year for folks but information is coming in. All the totals so far are brilliant!
  • scrumperscrumper Member Posts: 317
    @SirKevbags‌ can you remind me what the best way to send the money is please.
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
    @scrumper‌ Just follow this link https://mydonate.bt.com/charities/fairybricks and if you're a UK taxpayer then don't forget to authorise the gift aid :-)

    Still waiting for a few totals from people but I can sat now that the winner will be getting something signed........

    Is this an annual challenge? 2014 kicked off this week last year. I definitely had some hard lessons learned...
  • legogregorslegogregors Member Posts: 402
    Any updates on the challenge?
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
    Ok then,

    I'm giving it until Wednesday 7pm UK time for numbers to come in, if I've heard nothing by then I'll announce the totals I have and crown the winner :-)

    My participation in the challenge lost steam when I invested my working capital into procuring some sets from overseas. The shipment was delayed and during that time someone popped up in the US with a ton of inventory and torpedoed the resale value. What was supposed to be a quick flip to double my capital turned out to be a losing proposition for nine months. Prices have finally rebounded though, so I'll sell them and meet my donation commitment for 2014.

    Job well done to everyone who participated, and congratulations to those that maintained momentum for the full year. I'm ready to be shocked and impressed by the tally!

    I got distracted last year and have only just sold the last of my items. Once I recive payment from the buyer I'll make the transfer to Kev.

    It didn't turn out as well as I hoped ($ wise) due to a number of factors and once converted to £ it will look even worse, but at the end of the day it will still buy a nice chunk of Lego for the kids.

    Hey @SirKevbags did you get my pm's or email I sent a while back (I have been a bit lazy and haven't chased it up since)? I'm not sure if you have me on ignore ;) or maybe the pm's aren't working properly agin.

    Anyway I need to get the money transferred to you and sort out some donation stuff.
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
    I said it before and I'll say it again: My hat's off to those that participated, particularly those that sustained the effort for the entire year. @xeeeej and @legogregors , let me know if you'd like your brickset nickname to be SirXeeeej and SirLegogregors.

    Thanks for posting, great challenge!

    I nominate Xeeeej to organize the next round:)
  • xeeeejxeeeej Member Posts: 71
    Before I say anything else let me apologise for how I have handled these results and in fairness the challenge overall. There was a lack of direction from my part as the year went on as more and more things needed my attention. Sadly the poor re seller challenge was the thing to suffer. That isn’t fair on first the readers here and more importantly the people who worked hard in generating profits. Thanks everyone for getting involved and I think it could run again, I would just need to find someone to manage it far better than I have.

    So the moment you have all been so patiently waiting for, the final league table........ (Results in USD)

    @xeeeej $2849.6
    @Basta $384
    @111ins $280
    @flyingpig No Results
    @rocao No Results
    @wagnerml2 No Results
    @leego76 No Results
    @coachie No Results
    @RedBaron No Results
    @LegoFanTexas No Results
    @ecmo47 No Results
    @legoprods No Results

    So we have a winner! @xeeeej generated the most profit. He will receive as his prize an Exo Suit with a personal message signed by Pete himself. I should be seeing Pete on Friday to take care of that. Again everyone has done a fantastic job and generated a large amount of cash that is being put to good use. We have visited 55 different hospitals now and I know as I type this @Jenni is making it number 56. That’s is LEGO worth £45,000 or $71,500 give or take.

    Still waiting for that Exo Suit...
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
    @xeeeej you mean this one. Returned to me last week in a smashed to bits shipping box (along with three Fairy Bricks sets)

    Apologies because I thought I had emailed you about it (clearly I've not however because a search of sent items shows nothing). It will be re packed this week.
  • xeeeejxeeeej Member Posts: 71
    Oh no!  Well it's good to see that it survived the journey through space.
