The Laketown chase and Black gate make a nice pair, I believe they were $74.xx after tax.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
^ Yes, and I missed Lake Town being included with the sale otherwise I would have purchased this pair.

Just purchased 2 Lake Town sets with the BOGO 40 just now. Wasn't available earlier.

Thanks @1265, I just purchased as well. This sale has been a pleasant surprise. Nice to cross some sets off the want list with deep discounts. First Lego purchase for me since Christmas.

What is interesting is you do not know you are getting the discount until you checkout. The link for the BOGO40 sale shows no LEGO on sale for me, only Nerf stuff

This sale has been posted everywhere. SD effect or not, what I lament is that we probably won't see a further price drop. I was going to post about Dragon Monutain dropping another 5% (which would make 40% off for two), but 15 minutes later it went back up.
  • RennyRenny Member Posts: 1,145
The Lotr Battle of the Wizards set dropped in price to $8.31 and qualifies for this sale putting it at only $6.65 each when two are purchased.

It looks like the price dropped again on Dragon Mountain again as I just ordered 2 for ~40% off and thanks to @Renny for the Battle of Wizards note ordered 2 of that one for ~50% off!

Also picked up 2 of the LEGO Castle Forest Ambush for ~48% off!!!
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
At least it is a "fun" sale, not a limited number of sets that once gone it is over.
There are second chances, price dropping, items coming in and out of the sale...

The bad side of it.. have to be alert 24/7 :)
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
Managed to snag Lake Town and Black Gate. Both seem to go in and out of stock at different times. Lake Town is actually a pretty neat looking set (Lego store recently put all of the Hobbit sets in a display case). I'm planning to incorporate it with MMV. Funny how I swore off any more Lego sets and a stupid sale brings me back in.
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
@legogregors What price did you buy Dragon Mountain at? It's currently showing $39.99 and Amazon price tracking shows that it has been at this price for the past month. If that's what you got it at, that's not 40% off each.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I'm pretty sure I saw them marked down below that yesterday. $31.xx I think
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
Some great deals for sure. Now, let's wait a week and do it all over again with Super Heroes and City.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
Oooo I've been waiting to get dragon mountain. Not sure that I want 2 though. Anything else from any theme that is close to that price point besides lake town and black gate?

Go into checkout and you will see the price 'correction' or order summary after discount. The Dragon mountain does have it at this moment for Amazon (US)

@graphite: It's possible that the price tracking site doesn't catch very short-lived discounts. I just wanted to verify price so that people don't mistake the current $39.99 as 40% off each.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
Dragon Mountain was $37.xx briefly today.

@rocao I was checking just after busumoe1 posted that Dragon Mountain had gone back up and it was $37.36 after discount it was $59.78(no tax free shipping) for two. This was right around 1pm EST.

Please keep posting these deals everyone! Thanks,

^Thanks for the clarification. I too was wondering if the 40% was a mistake in calculation or an actual flash price drop.
If mathew got them for say $37.5 then that is a 1-37.5/50*.8=.4 so exactly 40% off when buying 2.

If anybody purchases 2 right now at the $39.99 rate that is 1-39.99/50*.8=0.36 so 36% off.

I do want 2 of the mountain, but given the discounts on other castle sets right now, I will hold until it drops back to 40% or more or just not buy at all.

Edit: My reply was to mathew, but also thanks to legogregors.

I decided to buy LT and BG instead. Dragon Mountain is easily the best set of the recent Castle theme but is a bit "kiddy" compared to the more detailed LotR sets.

Thanks for the heads up on the revival. Grabbed my Laketown on a second pass (paired it with Dol Guildur which was already on a nice discount). I picked up the Grievous Wheel Bike and Mirkwood Elf Battle pack on the first round. Now I just need to find time to build them...

Could someone more used to Amazon please explain my order to me? I bought 2 Lake-town sets for 42.86 each, which should have been 39.99 each with the bogo 40. Then added #70404 for 90.87 and #75004 for 38.46 and #70403 for 37.36.

This is what my total says after I checked out. Item(s) Subtotal: $252.41
    Shipping & Handling: $18.05
    Free shipping: -$18.05
    Promotion: -$14.94
    -----
    Total before tax: $237.47
Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00
    -----
    Grand Total: $237.47

What is the Promotion deduction of 14.94 for?
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
    edited May 2014
^ The promotion works with the cheapest item that you purchased. In your case you should have placed multiple orders because the BOGO is only applied to one item.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ what he said. You got 40% off of the #70403 at $37.36.
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,694
Yep, I'm an idiot. That's what I get for doing this during business hours.

Anyone notice 2x #79012 Mirkwood Elf Army? On sale for $25 each, discount bring to $40 for 2. $20 each is a great deal for that set.
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937

Blast!!! How was that missed in yesterday's posts?

Phew, I was able to cancel. $80.50 is an incredible price.

Could not agree more, and you can get it right now, 2 Falcons for $161 is the deal of the quarter.
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
#79008 LOTR Pirate Ship Ambush, 2 for $131.
  • richlrichl Member Posts: 246
    #7965 is $100.79 before the 40% right now. That's $161.26 for 2, $80.63 each pretax - 42% off.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
Yep and it's out of stock now. I managed to pick up two thanks to Tensor. My wife won't be happy however.
  • richlrichl Member Posts: 246
Dammit, I hesitated and ended up adding a #70404 instead of a second #7965 - and then I hit the out of stock wall. Probably for the best due to the better half anyway...
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
Amazon makes impulse purchases too easy. No tax (for me at least) and a liberal return policy. So if the wife protests too much or I have buyers remorse I'm only out $10-20 for return shipping.

I wonder if Amazon is putting these particular sets on sale because they are trying to clear out inventory for the summer sets. Possibly means that the Falcon is retiring this year.
  • richlrichl Member Posts: 246
#70404 is now $72.79 before BOGO40. Works out at $58.23 each pretax if two are ordered.

Noticed Target has this for $72 with a BOGO40. Pre-tax with red card is $68.40.

  • Farmer_JohnFarmer_John Member Posts: 2,405
Amazon can be such a joke. I ordered a couple of Hobbit sets and got the BOGO deal. Unfortunately, I also purchased a portable saw they had on sale in a separate order a day or two later. Amazon decided to stuff them all in the same box and ship them together. So later today I will be receiving two Lego sets and a 15lb weight that have been bouncing around together for a couple days. I am expecting both sets to have been converted back into plastic resin pellets that are sealed in plastic bags.

I guess a positive spin on this would be that Amazon is providing me with a much lower price per piece ratio and a more complex build...
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
^ Are you sure they are in the same shipment? I would imagine that the fact that you ordered them on separate days that they will come in separate boxes. Just wait and see before you tear them apart. Amazon is still by far the best retailer currently around.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
You can tell with the tacking number. I received yesterday 2 boxes with 2 orders in each box (boxed by theme :). All boxes in mint condition, far cry from the #10236 fiasco...

    Has what?

Sad that I missed that Falcon deal. Even though people are probably stacking those it is still probably one of the best deals that have been out there for that set.
Wanted to pull the trigger on those pirate raid sets for LoRT but I got a couple back when they were 60 each during Black Friday/Cyber monday weekend

My guess is Amazon is testing BOGO40% to be used and see how well it works to compete against other retailers doing similar tactics.

Then again it seems that every spring Amazon does some massive sale on LEGO.

I thought about getting a pair of #70404, but for me even at 60 I'm not sure that is a great deal. That set is pretty miserable IMO, and looks junior-ized: block-y and simple.

Also part of me is wondering that if these deals are to be had now, or will you see them- or a better deal- down the road for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Also is there a set list of what is currently available for this deal? Amazon's BOGO40 site does not show any LEGO for me
