Looks smaller than the older one.
My recollection of PM is v bad, I've put up a little bit of a mental block against it so I don't remember much of the film, but what's the white droid thing? looks like it's meant to be a repair droid of some sort?
Design of the set looks nice enough but not being a fan of prequel trilogy it would have to be at a good discount for me to go for this one.
Nevertheless, I like it and, depending on the price, it could be a winner!
@Shib - The white droid is one of these: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/PK-series_worker_droid They appear only very briefly in the final film, but originally had a slightly more significant role I believe.
/sigh
The last 3 waves really are remake mania.
But it does compare nearly 1:1 (I think) in size with 7184 from 2000, and as such is quite a nifty remake.
On remakes: This may be the last hurrah for anything that is not an 'iconic' marker of the SW universe (MF, X-Wing, TIE, Jedi Starfighter, etc.), if the new movies, tie-in shows, and more come together as Disney desires. So, we may look back on these past few years as the last chance for many of the lesser aspects of the SW universe.
A few other remakes worth their time:
Dagobah
Bespin, but with freeze chamber, jail, and duel scenes (forget the landing pads)
Last, a list of things LEGO hasn't made and I think should be done before they hit the dustbin of SW history:
Kamino clone factory
Hoth Ion Cannon with Rebel Transport
Jedi Temple with archives and holocron vault
My thoughts as well, OT/PT will probably be the occasional set ,UCS and large playset once in a while next to the new material that will flood the market.

Perhaps seeing the set in the flesh will change my opinion, but it looks entirely to "blocky" to me (which seems ironic to say considering it is a LEGO set).
This set will likely be $99.99, so we will really see what the past 7 years have done to the value (pieces, minifigures, design) included in a LEGO set.
I wonder if this is in response to the calls for more minifig dominated SW sets, but keeping them building sets. Make the vehicle with simplistic parts (so plates for sides) and thus as cheap as can be, to make the set at a cheaper price point and so the minifigs better value.
This could well be a popular set though as many children playing with LEGO today would not have been when #7662 was released, and this is a popular vehicle from the Prequel Trilogy which they will no doubt be familiar with.
