Um. Brainiac is a Superman villain first of all. Second of all, maybe we'll finally get a Green Lantern!

Excellent, that should mean more sets to come and hopefully more villains!

From the trailer alone new batman, superman, wonder woman variants. Please give us cyborg and green lantern!
  • carlqcarlq Member Posts: 792
I definitely hope for GL and Cyborg after this....but "Space Batman's" wings would make a custom Batwing (African Batman Inc. member) much easier to do! :-)

Woohoo!!! Just saw this too! Exciting!! The second Lego Batman was damn near perfect w/ regards to the storyline and cut scenes, so I'm super jazzed about this one.

In response to all the above, don't forget that the last one included various DC Superheroes and there wasn't much released off the back of it, same goes with the Marvel superheroes game.

That said I'm looking forward to seeing some DC big fig designs. These games are always good fun, simple and silly little games so always glad to hear more being made.

Interesting - they are using the New52 costume designs. This will likely make Lex's Power Suit set even more valuable for the "purists" out there that prefer the traditional suits for Wonder Woman and Superman.

Hoping that the next wave of sets finally gives us a Green Lantern.
  • suprajamessuprajames Member Posts: 366
You can play as Green Lantern and Cyborg in Lego Batman 2, so suprised the figures never came out :(
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
I think we are more likely to get more DCU characters in sets as they start to appear more in other media, I would say that with Arrow doing so well there's a chance we might see a green arrow, but seeing as the show is very child UN-friendly that would be a push. Notice that Flash appeared in a set as the Flash has become better known and was after confirmation that the Flash was getting a TV series set in the same universe as the Arrow TV show.
With the Batman/Superman film coming up and the confirmation that they intend to use this as a launchpad for a Justice league film I think we could see more of the Justice League roster starting to appear in sets, but realistically I don't think it will be until the films out.
I hope that the Justice League film, when it does come out, has either the satellite or the watchtower on the moon and we see a set based on that in some way (even if it's just interior parts or a Star Wars Planets type set)

Nice, Glad it is coming out.
I'm not surprised though, I can see LEGO doing sets based off of the next game to keep sets relevant, though the next Superman movie is planned and filming.
I'm sure they will do the crazy amount of minifig promos with this one too. Just hope Game stop is not one of them doing the promo in the US. Hopefully they do what they did with Marvel superheroes and add the figure into the box.

I certainly hope so. Killer Croc and Bane bigfigs please!

Good news! Though it does mean that just as I was getting to the end of collecting the Batman minifigs (excl the comic-con ones :-(), they'll go and bring out more that I'll 'need' to get

It would be great to have a set with both a mini fig and a big fig Bane - good play value for pumping up, but the Venom - Steroids/drugs link would probably put TLG off that a little

    Fantastic news!!

And it looks very lantern oriented based on the synopsis I read.

Maybe we will get a Green Lantern with the game if we pre order?!?

I bet the game will include a Yellow Lantern just to annoy us further in our quest to form our Justice League team.

Like the previous Lego game did for Marvel, I hope DC Comics offers us Lego variant comic book covers. I really enjoyed the Marvel ones. Wishful thinking.

They've done a few variants lately. They did one for Scribblenauts, MAD, and some steampunk ones. I wouldn't rule out Lego variants right now, either.

Lego has release many video games - some of which came with a preorder figure - but I don't remember a single set or figure actually being released from the game (even though games sometimes have almost 100 characters to unlock)... Drives me crazy playing the game with all of the cool figures that were never actually made...

I feel you plantman. I've been jonesing for a proper Cyborg since the last Batman game but no sets ever came of that either. Seems like a wasted opportunity to me. And even though the Iron Patriot that I got with the Marvel game was cool and all, he wouldn't have even been in the top 50 characters from that game I wanted a minifig of. I don't really expect anything based on this game either.

If it's a Sinestro minifig, it can be a Yellow lantern all day long...

Or give us an Orange Lantern Lex Luthor(just change the color of the previous Lex Luthor promo). I'm fine with that too...

Why do LEGO not produce more Super Heroes Minifigures? It is perhaps the most character driven theme in production at the moment, so I would expect at least a couple of heroes and villains in every set.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
The normal argument is that kids won't know them unless they are very well known, but personally i think thats a daft approach, when you consider how much people spend on superhero action figures and custom minifigs there's definitely a market for them, but TLG doesn't seem to want a slice of it.

DC is getting close to launching their JL franchise on the big screen, and these games continue to be big deals. And kids play these games and want the figs. I bet we see a bigger mix of characters this time around, especially some of the JL members.

Not sure I can afford another set of LEGO comics, still need 3 more sketch covers to finish the previous 2 sets.

They seem to be doing a LEGO Stan Lee cover now as well, not sure how many though.

I think Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant Man, JL and others over the next few years are going to start opening up these worlds more and then we'll see more from LEGO but it is understandable from a company that makes construction toys that for their main market, which is kids, to want something it has to be time relevant to what is big at the time. Releasing unknowns right now or releasing sets too early (like Guardians) I think won't work out as well.

^ I get that, and I'm not expecting a Hawkman and Hawkgirl set (as much as I'd love one) but it'd be nice to see a bit more variety than Batman + Villain + Henchmen in sets, which we are starting to see a little bit.
But take the current wave, the Flash appearing alongside Batman is great, Brilliant to see Batgirl making an appearance as well to help put more female mini figures out there, but I'd have gladly sacrificed the Damian Wayne Robin fig (as much as I love the character) for say Cyborg (who as a character I'm not that interested in but crave more variety in characters rather than variations of existing characters)

If we could get a Zur En Arrh Lego Batman, I'd be so happy. Especially if it came with a Bat-radia, a bat, and Might. I really don't think that will happen, but holy cow, that would be awesome.
  • chuckpchuckp Member Posts: 684
^^ Very nice find! This may be wishful thinking, but considering Lego has already made 3 of the 5 suits pictured, maybe they are hinting at something. Lego now does a special fig for each video game release, so variants like Batman of Zur-En-Arrh could be a possibility. However, the space suit makes much more sense for Lego Batman 3.

Another thought... with the inclusion of the Batman 75th anniversary hashtags, Lego could also be participating in DC's Batman day on July 23rd and do a special Batman fig for the 75th anniversary.

as I'm sure were all aware tho, a digital render of something promoting one of the games rarely means much to what we see physically produced.

I know nothing about the Batman Zur-En-Arrh other than what I read in Wikipedia, but I like the fact that Lego would reach into comic book obscurity. The Super Heroes line needs fanboys in their corner to produce more characters in each universe similar to how prolific Lego Stars Wars minifigure has become.

I would love it too. The first one, Lex in armor was mediocre and a bad choice considering they made Shazam and Bizarro SDCC figs. That was a big mess on LEGO for not making one of them the bonus for the game.

This time they need to come out with something amazing to make the fans excited, Booster Gold is a very good choice, much better than another alternate batsuit. We need a new character, we have too many Batmen to begin with.

^I didn't mind the Lex with the last game, but that might just be because I expected yet another Batman so anything was better than that, and I am taking the same approach with this one. I'm expecting the bonus poly to be Batman in the Spacesuit, which I wouldn't be completely disappointed with but would much prefer another member of the JL. Anything more than Batman in the spacesuit is a bonus!

All LEGO needs to do if they want to put out figures is to make a DC and a Marvel SuperHeroes Advent calendar. There are plenty of variants to make. But likely they want to not do that so they can keep people going to the ComiCons to resell... err... 'collect' the special promo figures there.

Aren't the CC exclusives free? What good does that do the 1000s of other people who want a figure?

Yes Logic dictates that in fact LEGO makes more selling them in sets, however, they want people to go to the LEGO booth, presumably to buy things. Also technically they are not free as you have to pay to get into Comic Con. But that is the thing about an exclusive promo, supposedly only kids were supposed to get them, but it appears LEGO cannot even come up with a way to equally randomize the way people got them at the cons from what I heard. And I'm not spending 1000 dollars to go to SD just to have a chance to get a couple of figures. I would much rather see LEGO make an advent calendar with some special edition figures in it.

I just remembered that The Lego Movie game was available with three different exclusive figures depending on if and where you had a pre-order. So... maybe multiples for Batman 3?

Pajama Emmet, Taco Emmet and a robot of some kind.

In the uk it was only the Western Emmet that came with the game, the other two were done as Cinema exclusives/newspaper giveaway

I'd make my peace with that. I'd love to have a Zur-En-Arrh, but if there's going to be a minifigure that I don't have a hope in hell of ever getting, I'd rather it be a variant (as fantastic a variant as it would be) than an exclusive character, à la Green Arrow.
  • plantmanplantman Member Posts: 97
@Shib - thanks for adding that - don't know why I typed "Taco Emmet" - I meant Western Emmet. I was probably thinking of the Taco Guy from the figure series.

For anyone who's not seen this, TT just posted info about DLC on twitter

I know it's a digital render so you can't take anything from it but that cowl piece in the middle picture would be great if made real. It could easily be used for Batman and Batwoman and if cast in purple could also be used for Huntress.
