Has anyone else received an email today about the Sun promotion?

The one where you had to enter via Facebook to win the Alien Conquest ADU Walker?

Both my wife and myself entered and won :)

Yes, I've got mine, pleased to have got this one, my 2011 polybag collection creeps ever closer to completion.

Nice one, did anyone ever get a gold brick?
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
Nope, no gold brick for me.
  • MinifigsMeMinifigsMe Member Posts: 2,844
hmm. this offer is subject to availability - I'm order number 13660 - didn't they say they had 10,000?
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
Someone help me. Fb is something I detest, but vividly remember entering The Sun thing(somehow). How do I find out whether or not I've won anything?
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,002
None for me, maybe because I 'de-liked' they're Facebook page after doing the quiz?
  • princedravenprincedraven Member Posts: 3,764
^^ sounds like they email you on the email account associated to your FB account. Nothing for me yet, checked my inbox and junk mail about 60 times in last few hours. Stupid as its only a little poly but little fella loves his Alien Conquest so would have been a nice little stocking filler for him.
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
Yep, you'll get an email if you won. Now to go and 'unlike' The Sun, I'm with you on Fb flump.

    No emails for me....
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
^^ How do I 'unlike'. I can't find a list of 'likes'! Honestly, I feel like my dad trying to work his VCR!

I won... anyone got a picture of what we win?
  • Steve_J_OMSteve_J_OM Member Posts: 999
Guys, strange thing I happened across on another forum.

Basically, it's a form which looks like it was sent to winners of the promotion, only it's available via direct link - so it looks like anybody can enter their details for a free ADU Walker :-o

I'm not sure if this is a mistake on The Sun's part, or what the story is. The link is here:

Though clearly we're all just as guilty as the next person of taking our chances ;)
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
Heehee, hopefully I will get an ADU from this and didn't have to sell my soul and 'like' the Sun to do so :)
  • MinifigsMeMinifigsMe Member Posts: 2,844
does ordering one of these break your ban lucy? ;)
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
Definitely not! It's free! You'll set flump off again now...
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
    Well, technically.......!
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
Whose ban is it anyway?! Mine. And my rules state that this doesn't count. So there.

So you didn't buy all those papers to get the free LEGO then ;o). The Sun are going to be pretty confused when they get 20,000 applications from 10,000 winners! As long as the actual winners (those who did have to sell their souls!) still get their sets, I hope this works out for you guys.

EDIT: there is a winner's reference number in my email from The Sun, but can confirm that the link in the email takes me to the same link as the one pointed above, i.e. there's nothing in the URL that identifies my winner's reference number, and there doesn't appear to be anything on the form that does either, so I can't see how they will be able to tell the difference. There's a storm a-brewing...

  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
Oh yeah. Forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me... :(

The whole thing seems like a bit of a mess... you enter the competition, wait a month, get an email that says you won, then they send you a link that can be accessed by all and sundry (i.e me)? And then you still have to wait another 28 days? Rubbishio.
I'll be keeping very quiet if I get one and there start to be rumblings from actual winners...
  • JessyDooDahJessyDooDah Member Posts: 228
I won one of these, filled out the form and got the confirmation. I also tried to get another using the link above with a different address and email. The competition page refreshes, and doesnt open the 'order accepted' page like it did with my first order, and I have not received a confirmation email for this one either.
    I don't think it works :(

I've managed to get more than one order through, I used a different email each time. Handy that my doman package let me have unlimited [email protected] addresses :o)

(I used the same address for them all, and have got the confirmation emails.)
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
Same email address for me and the kids (different postal addresses though) - all confirmed. Let's wait and see.
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
I got a confirmation email from mine, I'm only going to submit one form, it's going to be one unholy mess to sort out as it is and I don't want to make it worse.
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
^ Are you forgetting who's going to be sorting it out? I couldn't care less what mess the Sun have to sort out :-)

Absolutely agree. I'd genuinely feel bad about costing an actual competition entrant their polybag - but I got a confirmation email with an order number, so hopefully there is some system in place to sort it out.

Sun bashing has become quite the national sport hasn't it? I have no love for the people who run the paper, but the person having to sort this out will be some poorly paid, and soon to be super stressed administration employee. Anyway, guess we'll have to see how this one plays out, I don't blame you guys for trying, had I not won, I certainly would.

I don't get all this sun bashing? My Hamster loves it!!!
  • whizzardwhizzard Member Posts: 102
Does say in the initial email for winners that the form will be cross referenced against initial competition entries.
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
    ^ I did 'initially enter'. :o)
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
^^ I can't see that anywhere in my email. What will they cross reference on, I can't even remember what info I had to submit when I entered.
  • whizzardwhizzard Member Posts: 102
If i remember it was name and email address and while it may not mention cross referencing in the email - it certainly does on the offersontheweb page.
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
A link to the order page got over 1000 degrees of heat on HotUKDeals which gets a lot of traffic, so I would imagine a lot of people have given this a try!
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
Did anyone else cut the Sun perks vouchers out also? From all the papers I got, I just sent off for £15 of Tesco vouchers! I could have got more if I hadn't stupidly dumped all of Saturday - Wednesday's papers in the recycling skip in town before noticing the perks vouchers :( Still. I've got a fair few!
  • legonut80legonut80 Member Posts: 314
thanks you've just reminded me to send mine off, i remember also getting free vimto in one of the papers, a friend of mine had lots of stuff from that offer
  • bricksanbricksan Member Posts: 566
Mine arrive today as did my wifes so I have two :)
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
None yet for me, I haven't had any LEGO related post all week :-(
I'm hoping they'll be here tomorrow when I get back from Smiths for the next lot of free LEGO.
  • pantboypantboy Member Posts: 211
^^ i got my ADU walker in the post today too :-)

  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
I haven't had any packets today, just a few letters.... :-(
  • whizzardwhizzard Member Posts: 102
Got my ADU Walker today also (official winner).
  • pantboypantboy Member Posts: 211
^^^ i was as you say an 'official' winner

^^ i got mine as a bright spot amongst several bills ;-(
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
Just got back in after being out all day, and what was waiting for me when I got home? Yep, you guessed it, an ADU Walker (official winner).

So, anyone received one yet that didn't 'win' one?
