^ I didn’t see it until the next morning so was pretty sure I was out of luck. I did offer more than the asking price to hopefully get a response. I was prepared to drive from eastern NC if successful.

And your right. The Lego postings on Craigslist have been very sparse of late so I haven’t been trolling as frequently as in the past.

Bought a joblot of lego that did not sell on ebay for £60. I asked if it was genuine lego and was told there were a "few" non-lego.
I did wonder why it did not sell on ebay as it was 12kgs. The lot included 50 mini-figs not in the photos and not mentioned. What people saw was a few big megabloks and thought it was all rubbish. Also got 8 base plates, so a OK buy.

Just bought bargain of the week with a twist. For £30 i got 8 kgs of pure sorted lego. Some bricks are dirty but otherwise in good condition. Mostly castle with around 50 figures.
The twist is she also had an extra bag of "lego" and asked if i wanted to buy it. It turned out to be pure mega bloks so i turned down her offer. So she was going to keep it for grandchildren... Poor children....

I was lucky enough to come across a used 7645 MT-61-Crystal-Reaper, without box, on ebay last week and picked it up for $43, shipped. It is missing one alien, one old-style flick missile, and has an incorrect head on one of the minifigs - nothing I can't live without until my next Bricklink order.

Just crossing this set off my wanted list at this price would have made me happy enough alone, even with the missing pieces, but the extras made this purchase quite the bargain. Included with the Reaper were a PF Battery Box, Switch, Lights, and even an M-Motor, of which, exactly all of them work!

After getting a small portion of this set buzzing around with only one motor & lights (and the ridiculous amount of fun I had just rigging that up and watching it go) I now have this unfortunate feeling that this "bargain" may soon prove to be a gateway into more expensive things...

My friend gave me all his childhood LEGO and wouldn't take any money for it. All unsorted, no instructions and he couldn't remember what was there.

I've just finished sorting out 50+ sets, mostly smaller ones, from between 1992 and 1999, including:

    #6195, #6494, #6479, #6335, #8250, #6268, #6264, #8226, #6999, #5938

Now it all needs a really good clean...

I came across a great deal tonight at Ross. They had (2) 79110 sets on the toy shelf priced at $29.99 a piece, I bought one of the sets. I may have to go back tomorrow and see if that last one is still there.

Found a #4194 Whitecap Bay with the end of the box busted open at Walmart in the clearance section for..... full retail price. So ridiculous. But I did get the recent Friends polys, Bakery Stand, Flower Stand, and Rapunzel, along with the Creator Little Car for $1 each so that made the trip worthwhile.

I picked up a Lego UNIC spider crane at a car boot sale for £5. (URW-706 at this link)

How does this come about? It has real lego pieces, but as far as I can see is not an official Lego set.
  • emmtwosixemmtwosix Member Posts: 80
^ At the bottom of the link you provided, they've posted the following in tiny font below the article:

"Disclaimer: LEGO is an official trademark of the LEGO Group who do not produce, sponsor, endorse or authorize this product."

So I'd say they produced the sets themselves, save for the bricks.

^^ Did the superglue come with it?!
  • texaspetetexaspete Member Posts: 56
Yes, the super glue came with it! Obviously I will not entertain using it, and hope it doesn't form a necessary step in the build!

Back to the 'how does this come about?' So any company can say to Lego "I want to promote my products in Lego. I know you won't endorse it, but can you bulk supply me the pieces I need?"

They can, but lego will probably tell them no.

Scored a very good condition raised baseplate similar but different print to that used in sets #6091 #6098 #10176 (http://rebrickable.com/parts/30271px2 ). Paid $5NZD for it. Shame there was no other Lego with it. Not sure of the actual set this one comes from,

Besides those two sets, which have the same pattern (I don't understand why there are two variants of #6091 / #6098 ) that shape of baseplate appears with an ice pattern in #4748, a tan and gray stone pattern in #7419, a pattern with two grassy cliffs and a river down the middle in #5986, a jagged rock pattern in #4990, and a stone with grassy edge pattern in #8781.

    Hope that helps!
  • KiwiLegoMeisterKiwiLegoMeister Member Posts: 212
Thank you for that. Its definitely not #6091 / #6098 / #4748 / #7419 / #5986 / #4990. It is very close to #8781, but the green grass printing has more coverage on that front right corner. No matter. I'll put it down as a #8781. Thank you again.

A friend is offering me a sealed Taj Mahal #10189 for $1200. Worth the investment?
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,696
@DaveChef6 After looking at the sold sealed sets on Ebay. It looks like that price is about $300 below the going rate. I'm a cheapskate, I'd offer $1000, but check the seals. I don't trust people either.

@oldtodd33 I'll check the seals. Is there a way to know what a set should weigh? I could bring a scale too.

we recently returned from a mini-vacation.

Found a few good bargains out there. I got the lego minotaurs board game PLUS bonus lego battles game for 8 bucks and 2 olvia desk polys for 2.49 at kmart(there were more of the desk polys but I only wanted a couple) and I found a series 11 scientist for a buck at walmart. I'm burnt out on the CMF line but just for the parts that I really want(the flasks, hair, and face) is well worth the buck

Sorry for long post, but I got a reply to my wanted ad the other day. Around 25 kgs of pure lego. From the 2 photos I got emailed, there seemed to be a lot of Star Wars, which I don’t like. I was told there were not many figures and I had to pick it up the next day. I did suggest they sold it on Ebay to get more money, but they had sold 3-4 Star War sets, with one buyer complaining about a missing brick... So they just wanted rid of it. They asked what I would pay, and I just suggested £100 and they agreed.
I was surprised how good the lego was, most of it looked newish. A lot of the Star Wars sets were ready made… I have found around 100 figures and half the lego was colour sorted. It looks like I have these sets: 2505. 7994, 7998, 7991, 7682, 7206, 7893, 3222, 7641, 7684, 7637, 7743, 7744. There are 3 small sets that are not even opened…. The Star Wars sets are; 8036, 8037, 7779, 8093, 7915, 8092, 9496, 7752, 7959. Gods knows what other sets I will find…
While building I have found a curious problem. When looking for a part I tend to use the big pile rather than the colour sorted boxes. They are too small to dig around in…

Just picked up 7 of the series 2 Mixels in NJ Target. Two weeks early.
Going to another on my way home to look for the last two.

I thought most people knew the set numbers. But one day i will teach myself how to link.... I found a lot of smaller sets. Oddly 3 of 7942.

You're kidding right? Maybe for some of the more prestigious sets, I mean. Some of us are OCD, but not that bad.

This brag can only be aimed at everyone who isn't in the UK, but getting all of these polybags for the price of a newspaper seemed pretty good! All were £0.60, apart from the Saturday ones which were £0.90, and Sunday's LEGO Movie one which was £1.50.

    http://brickset.com/sets/list-10595

Of course, these are probably subsidised by our generally-higher RRPs on everything else :)
  • jondesouzaCEjondesouzaCE Member Posts: 241
Does anyone have a record of what the cover prices were on the papers (Sun, Mirror, Mail) on the previous newspaper offers in the UK?
  • GuroooGurooo Member Posts: 268
@paul_merton‌ Higher rrp than who... certainly not higher than us poor Scandinavians ;) But I am happy for you guys anyway. Besides, sometimes there are nice trades to get from your poly bonanza!

Found a pair of #7848 Toys R Us trucks on 'brown clearance' which apparently is code for 50% off. Worked out to $25 each. Quite an impressive truck once built.

Bought a used #10194 Emerald Nights used off Craigslist for $100. Included all parts / minifigures / box / instructions. Now I'm just debating if I wanna keep it or trade it.
  • bobabricksbobabricks Member Posts: 1,842
@BazookaJoeX9 just keep it until you find something else that you would rather take its place.

Found a box of mixed bricks in a charity shop for £25. 13 figures including Star Wars and TMNT, loads of printed tiles and large plates, so not a bad mix.

Huh, I thought that set was expired... Then again I haven't been to TRU ever since a lego store opened near me...
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,636
^yeah I did too. Looked like they had been on the shelf for years, quite battered.

And for further bragging, I found a Lion Chi Temple #70010 for $60 at Walmart yesterday. I don't usually Christmas shop in May but when my little guy finds that under the tree this year the whole neighborhood will know it.

Last night, I swung by TRU and got Big Bentley (#8639). The listed price was $50, but when I checked out it was apparently on special for $20.

Alas, the Lone Ranger train in TRU was being sold for $135 :( I didn't know TRU would sell above RRP.
  • paul_mertonpaul_merton Member Posts: 2,967
Just got this box from my parents (not sure where they got it from). Apart from a few CMF plates on the lid, everything else on top looked like megabloks, but I was hopeful that there might be some other lego bricks lurking in the walls lower down. When we opened it, it was obvious that the bricks were also megabloks.... but then I noticed what was inside!!! :) Dozens of unmade CMFs and baseplates from series 11, The Simpsons and the Lego Movie! It may take a little while to sort it all out, but that was a rather pleasant surprise!
