@intromission‌ you might want to call the store and make sure they have it available there. i haven't seen one in some time.

It would be just like TLG to have a 50% off May the 4th sale on sets that aren't even available.
Haha you called it! The #9515 Malevolence is already sold out, at least right now, 8 minutes after 12am.
  • Farmer_JohnFarmer_John Member Posts: 2,405
Nope...had a couple items in my bag, but of course TLG sold out of one item in a couple seconds. Not going to give TLG any business this year for their May the 4th. Should have just gone to bed...

Malevolence is gone already or was it already sold out? Ridiculous.

Like the Malevolence? It lasted like 1 minute, they must have had 50 in stock for the sale. Thanks for nothing, [email protected]

I got my first order in with a 9515.. then it sold out.
  • DoubleDDoubleD Member Posts: 488
I wondered why I didn't see 9515 I didn't think it was on the list for a minute.

Considering Pre-Vizsla, as purchasing just the Governer himself for the kid is $24 on ebay, don't even see him on bricklink. At least he'd have another Mandalorian and Obi Wan + a ship for the same money. Doesn't put me near $75 though. Oh well, screw this.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
Correction : No Darth Revan with the Sandcrawler, need 75$ of other SW sets...

I had 9515 in my bag and was trying to hit $75 then it disappeared???

Skiff is gone as well now...
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
Is anyone else not getting Darth Revan to add to their cart by adding the sandcrawler?

This greedy company continues to stir ill will...

It says it has been added, but the picture of the minifigure doesn't show up.

If anything, they should give you a free minifigure with every purchase. I just bought the Ewok Village. I used $55 in VIP points. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the fine print leads me to believe that using VIP points toward your purchase will negate the free minifigure if your total falls under $75.

I'd wait a few weeks to buy him though because (like me) I'm sure there are people who bought a few to part out and there may be more of him up for cheaper.

So frustrating with Lego.com... unlike other sites, when you have items in your cart, they aren't saved for you. Went right away, set up my order, and as always the Lego website questioned my address (every order). In the time it takes to remind their system where I live, the skiff is sold out. In cart, order, no longer in cart.

Pure venting, but it is a Very awful system. I've only once been able to lock in a sale on the "hot" item due to this design, and that time they forgot to ship five of the items I ordered. Ok, off to sleep after waiting too long :( for what I should have known wouldn't happen.

everything that was 50% off gone :)
  • legogregorslegogregors Member Posts: 402
I used just VIP points for my $75 order and am expecting a darth revan.

    Overall, what a disappointment!
  • juggles7juggles7 Member Posts: 451
The Desert Skiff was 50% off for a few minutes, beginning at midnight. Now it's back to full price. These people are just pretending to have a sale.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
First time in many years that I won't buy anything in the first hour of the May 4th promo... the fact that this time the minifig was only for buying SW sets didn't help either, I always picked up at least an non SW exclusive to get the minifig.
I don't even fell the desire to go the LEGO store tomorrow... sad times.
  • ZathrasZathras Member Posts: 70
LOL I'm 6 cents short of $75 - no Revan/free shipping. Go to add a keychain and the Pre Vizsla fighter is sold out now. Wow just wow.

You get zero sales this may the 4th from me TLG.
  • red5red5 Member Posts: 7
Hrmm, It says Darth Revan has been added, but it doesn't actually show up until your cart has a higher amount. What a mess...
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
Disaster. I hope they can get this fixed tomorrow for those who can't go to a B&M store.

Most sites I have used have a similar ordering system. Putting something in your cart does not save it. In general, ordering theater seats or amazon flash sales (I can not remember what those are called ) have been the only items I have ordered online that are held, and then only 15 minutes.

me thinks ewok village won't go anywhere just about yet... lets hope we will get triple vip points :D day soon after disappointing sales during this time around :D

but again this time they had better discount world wide vs. US. so i am assuming from TLG perspective they will just be fine ...

It's NOTHING! Debating if I should bite on my $77 order... which consists of Anakin's Starfighter, Grevious' Wheelbike, Death Star Battle Pack, X-Wing Chibi & Ewok Keychain... pathetic...
  • krklintkrklint Member Posts: 502
@tamamahm, I can understand releasing the order after 15 min... but dropping product out of someone's order in less than a minute's time from when it was added to the order? Simply a joke system. I've dealt with that at other sites, too... but those other sites do not get to call themselves one of the three biggest toy companies in the world; and now seeing the Desert Skiff (item dropped off my order while I was processing my order) listed back at full price, less than 2 hours after the sale started... yeah, just yeah :/
  • starwarfan77starwarfan77 Member Posts: 341

@krklint‌ it may seem as if the item is listed @ full price. when trying to put it in cart it won't allow. it leads to sold out page.

  • SquareSideSquareSide Member Posts: 170
Bah, Ended up putting in my order but I changed my Anakin's Starfighter to Vulture Droid as I already have Anakin's RotS Starfighter.

Was thinking about ordering the sand crawler and SAH added sales tax. I'm in KY and this is the first time that's ever happened. We do not have a LEGO store in the state either. I know I saw this reported in a different thread for a different state. Looks like I won't be buying much from SAH anymore without a very compelling reason. I wouldn't mind so much if there was at least a LEGO Brand store to shop at locally. Oh well.

We have seen the same thing happen with American Girl, and when they have their sales. Now granted, they are not as huge as Lego when one just looks at AG, but they are technically Mattel, and it is also considered a high end toy like Lego. Amazon has similar where, you basically see the item up for the discount, and even when you hit the button immediately, you still do not get it. One cannot even get it one's cart. Both Mattel and Amazon are quite up there as large companies.
It happens during sales on high sale products. One has negative time to order. Frustrating? Yes, but other large retailers do it as well. I have been bit by both Amazon and AG with this same practice.
I always find it very, very annoying to see the item that was discounted back to full price so fast, but they obviously designated a limited selection for the sale, and in this case an unacceptable limited election.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
I hit up one of my stores this morning hoping to find some of the clearance items to grab a few more but I could see they didn't have any before they opened. I was the first person waiting for the store to open but as always the last to arrive always take the space left open that the first to arrive leave for traffic to flow so they all bolted in and it looked like at least 3 or 4 people were there specifically for the Sandcrawler. I have to say that it looks a lot better in person than I thought from the box or pictures. They did a good job with the shaping with studs out and the tread rollers look nice with the way they did the side covers. Might have to pick it up at some point even though I have the original.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
I don't know why because one retailer has shady business practices it is okay for another company to do the same. Fake sales don't exist so Amazon and Mattel can compete with each other, they exist to trap customers, and honestly it's a form of false advertisement, I'm sorry the courts haven't caught up to the times.

Not only is it unfair that these fake sales are advertised, but do some thinking and who are the people that are going to be the ones to get the lightning deals.........the people with super high speed internet connections. I'm never going to be able to compete with that.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ What fake sales are you referring to? The 3 50% off sets? I don't think anything advertised those specifically as being part of the on going sale. Clearance is clearance and almost always has the wording "while supplies last". Everything that is actually part of this sale appears to be available (all the 10% off crap).
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
    edited May 2014
10% is a joke, we all know the 10% off crap could be had for around 40-50% off last Christmas. Is Lego trying to be TRU? I've gotten plenty of e-mails advertising a sale on select items, so there should be something available. I don't differentiate between "clearance" and "sale" much, they are basically the same thing. So these 50% off items apparently went on "clearance" for 2 minutes and that somehow redeems TLG for sending me half a dozen e-mails about an apparent sale on select items.

Please don't give me the "why aren't you happy with pennies" crap. We all know what is happening to AFOLs here, it's not a secret. As others have said TLG pretended to have a sale this year.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I agree the sale is crap. But you're claiming basically that they lied about sets on sale and didn't have them, which is a bait and switch tactic when they do in fact have the sets on sale that they are advertising. You may not like the sets, or may not like the sale amount but there is nothing deceiving or wrong about what they did for this sale. Its just a crappy sale, stop acting like they owe you something.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
They don't owe me anything, but this sale IS deceiving. Not even comparing it to anything else, but to promote May the 4th the way Lego does and then have this to show for it is shady. I can see anyone just getting into Lego that doesn't know Lego is sold anywhere else usually for a lot less than Lego themselves calling this a sale, but for any AFOL this is a slap in the face. Maybe I'm just not infatuated with TLG as I once was to see them in a better light.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
I wouldn't call it deceiving. Were we all looking forward to some excellent deals? Yes. But the sale is what it is. You can still get the exclusive minifigure, which may be the best one yet. If you don't want that, then just pass and wait for clearance sales or triple VIP points later this year.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
10% off is still a sale. Even the coupons that they used to give that were so frustrating that they were taken away, were still only 10%. I can not call that shady practices.

Now, the 50% that sell out quickly... Eh. I really see that no difference than finding 50% off in a store. The quantity is highly limited and is first come first serve. If they have 1000 at that price, that is 20/state. That is gone instantly.
This stuff, does not bother me. That is the item to draw one in, like any Black Friday sale.
What annoys me, is the 10% which really is a joke for a sale when I can find better prices elsewhere. Then there is the lack of exclusive discounts, which is also quite lame.

Overall, do I think this sale is a joke? Yes. Do I think it is far, far worse compared to last year? Yes. Of course, so has everything else that Lego has been doing lately. The Black Friday sale was utterly laughable. Do I think this sale was shady? No.

Oh yeah, and Darth Revan is listing on the site for $4.99. Can we just buy him outright?

Well I believe some stores put out the left over promo figures for sale after the event ends.
Not sure if this will occur with Darth Revan or not (due to the way LEGO seems to be holding them with an iron grip).
Tempted to go to my store on Monday Morning to see if they do this.

All in all, The sale was not great, but I'm going to rail against LEGO wanting to make money. We all know it is their cash cow, they are not going to discount them heavily and they are already overpriced for what they are in terms of brick content.
I went online and bought a few of the sets with Jengo in it, then went to the store to buy the ones with the Darth Maul in it, err half a Darth Maul in it, but a simple pair of black legs and I believe he becomes a shirtless darth maul with his spiky head, and the other figures are kinda neat in it. I was not going to buy a Sandcrawler for one Darth Revan though (if they would let me get 3 for a purchase of a Sandcrawler maybe).
I do wish they would have had the Cantina available, would have been a lot easier for LEGO to pry my money away if they had those available.

I dunno I'll take 3x VIP points on my LEGO purchase anytime (during the BF sale, at least for US).
(Below is not directed to the quoted here)
Again This amazement of people of LEGO being stingy should not be surprising. Should be expected. Many here though seems to be acting like LEGO kicked their dog...
Don't like their bad sale? Then do not buy.. But then you do not get Darth Revan.. See if people want to complain fine, but try not to be too hypocritical if you are still buying for the figure anyway.
  • starwarfan77starwarfan77 Member Posts: 341
what basically surprises me most, is that people are buying into the 10% off when same sets can be bought for cheaper somewhere else. for example following sets are already OOS and ship after 30 days.

    #75003 Awing RRP$24 TLG Sale $22.48
    #75005 Rancor Pit RRP $59.99 TLG Sale 53.98 widely available @ $49.99
    #75014 Jek 14 RRP $69.99 TLG sale 62.98 widely available @ $59.99

i guess its the exclusive minifigure making people buy these since these are about few $ difference with the currently available prices.

Welcome to marketing 101. TLG assesses the response to their bait (in this case the exclusive minifigure) and then decides what sales to implement to maximise their profit. Capitalist pigs!
