[US] May 4th Sales at LEGO Stores

I don't think we will see the same sales in US as are going on in Europe. Does anyone have information about the Star Wars discounts for US stores this weekend?

The list posted there is not for US brand stores
  • legogregorslegogregors Member Posts: 402
I have not seen anything official for US brand stores. They have done a much better job keeping things quiet compared to last year's B-Wing sale.

I have not noticed whether Toysrus(in the US) will be doing anything, I was hoping for a TC-4 promotion.

I called the hotline yesterday and was told U.S. promotions will start on May 3 or 12am on May 4. Wonder why the EU and other countries are getting the deals so far ahead of May 4?

It's on page 2. The whole discussion is there.

I do see the discussion, and read all of page two, but I see nothing that indicates we actually know what sets. I remember the last time I had to log into Lego to see upcoming deals, the deals were not posted, but just simply the information that there was going to be deals.

Toys R Us is doing a 10% promotion on all Star Wars sets and then 30% on a few specific sets - Jedi Defender-Class Cruiser, Palpatine's Arrest and the Z-95 Headhunter.

I picked up the Cruiser at a great price.

^thanks! I wonder why the US did not get in on the TC-4 promotion? I am hoping it will be like the Robin Redbird polybag and eventually make it here.

My guess is it's to stagger the load/traffic on the [email protected] servers, but it's just a guess.

Another thing to consider is that in Germany(not sure about the rest of the EU) shops are closed on sundays (may the 4.),so they had to expand this "special date",due to the anniversary (of Lego SW?)there are a lot of things going on during the week/weekend in stores like different SW Garnisons show up in their costumes and stuff!

Because European countries are about 6-8 hours ahead of US? so their 12am is actually like our afternoon in the US
  • legomattlegomatt Member Posts: 2,543
Hmm... If we'd started a few hours ahead, that might be so. But we started a day or two ago.

I think you're misunderstanding. The sales event started yesterday in EU countries, six days before it will start in the US.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
Didn't TLG say they were going to start giving European customers more benefits because the US used to get all the good promotions? Early sales could just be their way of tossing a bone to EU customers.

Yeah, Mea Culpa. I say that in another thread after I could not edit my post above.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I'm pretty sure I saw someone mention that the UCS R2-D2 and 2 other sets were 15 percent off... Maybe I'm mistaken, but either way, have we found out what sets are on sale?
  • jeremy1973jeremy1973 Member Posts: 50
Why is it such a big secret?
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
Maybe [email protected] are waiting to unveil another UCS 50% off that the EU won't see and piss us all off. My bet's on the SSD. :P
  • herekittykittyherekittykitty Member Posts: 122
^ Haha, my kid still plays with those Chima mini figs. The speedorz part didn't work so well, but he sure loves his "guys."

But seriously TLG, what's with the total radio silence?
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937

More free Chima Speedorz starter packs for everyone!!!

No doubt, that was the first time I ever got anything Lego and said to myself "what the hell am I going to do with these?"

^yeah my son loves his Chima so I was glad for it. Gave another as a birthday gift and a 3rd I only recently found that slipped into the back of the closet is now in the Fairy Bricks pile.
  • DadsAFOLDadsAFOL Member Posts: 617
The radio silence is because if an affiliate reveals the list before the exact time that TLG says is okay, they will be cut off from further communication from Lego. So for those that have the info, its not worth the risk of leaking.
  • legogregorslegogregors Member Posts: 402
My guess is that there is just not anything worth getting excited about...prove me wrong TLG!!!

My bet is SSD, Death Star, Millennium Falcon, UCS X-Wing, and Ewok Village. But not a huge discount. But some is better than none
  • intromissionintromission Member Posts: 197
I want a 50% off Ewok Village or Death Star. Bring it Lego.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
Seriously, if they did offer 50% DS (we'll say limit to 5), how many would you buy right now?
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
Saw this somewhere else as the person mentioned they received their affiliate notice.

20% off most keychains and magnet sets
10% a variety of sets (not listed)
    50% off #9515 Malevolence #9525 Pre Visla's Fighter and #9496 Desert Skiff
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
Nothing to get excited about then. Heck if they gave us an early release of the new AT-AT I would probably show up. 50% off the Malevolence? Who cares.

    20% off blah
    blah% a variety of sets
50% off junk, junk, and too small to care

The "variety" is the only thing of mild interest there.

  • HokieJoe99HokieJoe99 Member Posts: 351
They can't discount the exclusives otherwise they would be breaking their rules.
  • ShpadoinkleShpadoinkle Member Posts: 420
Well that's pretty underwhelming. It will be a struggle for me to get to $75 this year.

Hmmm, not too happy, but I know my son had an interest in the Maleovelence (Ion Cannon as he calls it) and the Vizla craft. I've always tried to steer him away from them especially at full price. Thing is, I don't think I have seen these in store lately, has anyone else? I guess I might be convinced with these 2 for $85 plus the exclusive minifigure but ehhhhh...I would like to do the transaction in store if possible.
  • intromissionintromission Member Posts: 197
Oh yeah, and Darth Revan is listing on the site for $4.99. Can we just buy him outright?

Think I might just stay home and watch Attack of the Clones...

@intromission‌ you might want to call the store and make sure they have it available there. i haven't seen one in some time.

you will always have option of ordering from store to get it shipped @ home. but don't be too sure that they would last that long. i was/am surprised that #9515 the malevolence lasted this long after the star war set discount they had last month :).. most of the older set vanished during that period.

^Maybe the Malevolence was a holdover specifically to get us "excited" about this.

I'm really hoping to get at least 15% off the UCS X-wing, but if they offered something crazy like a 50% sale on the DS or SSD, I just might have to dust off the credit card and go into debt a little...more.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
Seems like a legit list. We knew exclusives weren't going to be discounted. The 50% is basically clearance on underwhelming/old sets. Ok, no problem. But 10% on other sets? That's just a joke
  • Farmer_JohnFarmer_John Member Posts: 2,405

It would be just like TLG to have a 50% off May the 4th sale on sets that aren't even available.

Very underwhelming. Usually there is at least one set that we all look forward to purchasing.
