A friend works in Smiths and his shop has them in but isn't putting them on the floor until Wednesday.

Hi all just picked up 2 in Argos 2.29 each and 2 in smyths toys 2.49 each. I don't mind paying the extra 20p in smyths as at least I can check what I'm getting unlike Argos who only have stock over the counter. it seems retailers are now just putting them out before the planned date of the 1/5/14. I have marked the bips and attached photos of the 4 I have got Maggie, Ralph, Homer, Bart :-)

Hi, do you have the catalogue code for them in Argos please? They're not on the website but I'd like to try and use their text service to reserve some
  • tom4086tom4086 Member Posts: 689
    @Losimagic it's 166/6450
  • LosimagicLosimagic Member Posts: 397
Thank you. Seems you can't reserve it via that yet either, I'll have to take a trip out later.

Got my first two today, Itchy and Scratchy, first two I picked up very easy to identify.

Just noticed an ad on gumtree for a full set of 16 minifigs.

    £110.

    Ah hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

.. well I just grabbed (literally) my first 4 from 'Tarjoustalo' here in Finland .. not a bad price €1.99 (£1.65) .. got one Bart (Eat my shorts) and 3 Ralf's .. geez
I didn't feel the bags so that will teach me to grab from the same section of a Lego Minifigs box and then run to the payment counter in my excitement!

Just been into the Entertainer (Southport) and they had 3 boxes out just as you enter the shop. £2.50 each.

You got all the Ralphs in the box.

^That will make finding the Milhouses much easier in that box.

Well the friendly staff at the Watford Lego store had spent some spare time marking up a whole loads of figs, so only had to do a quick hunt for Mr Burns (easy) and Milhouse (tricky) to get all 16. Milhouse and Ralph seem to be the two tricky ones to differentiate, everyone else should be really easy to find with a good feel!
  • JohnnyfinlandiaJohnnyfinlandia Member Posts: 358
.. wahey .. I opened one and it was Ralph but the other which I hadn't was Milhouse .. yay. His big nose and glasses gave it away after really feeling the bag .. so 3 uniques out of 4 at random was OK :)

I stopped at Walmart today to see if they had any deals. There were none but I came across only one of the new Simpson's CMF. With there only being one, I decided to buy it. I didn't even bother feeling it because I wanted it to be a surprise as I wasn't looking for a specific character.Well I was surprised because when I opened it it contained 5 pieces and no minifigure. I had never had this happen before and thought it was very strange. Has this happened to anyone else or am I the only one? Link below to an image and also attached one.

Looks like someone probably bought, took out the fig, replaced with random parts, resealed and returned.
  • knooseknoose Member Posts: 45
Good call, I just looked on the packaging and found glue. Had no idea people did that.
  • CrownieCrownie Member Posts: 228
    That's...

I'm speechless. Imagine if they put all that effort into something more socially productive...

At least the baseplate is still in there!
  • knooseknoose Member Posts: 45
Yeah, I'm going to return it tomorrow but I'm still very surprised that someone would really go through the effort to do that.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
Some people are just douchebags, but any shop that accepts returns on blind bags of all things should really be more vigilant.

I think stores should just simply stop accepting returns on CMFs. You stop the 'cherry pickers' who like to take the box home for the weekend and pick all the rares and return the box after they are done, and you also stop this garbage. I remember when stores actually had a spine and stopped such stuff from occurring by implementing a 'no returns on this item' policy. Im also guessing that @knoose is not the only victim here as I doubt someone did that with one figure.

I would also say complain to a manager. Maybe, just maybe, if enough people report this kind of garbage that will help companies or at least certain stores, start enforcing a no return policy.. Or they will just go on their merry way of continuing to do business like that, but it is always nice to dream
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
That always happen. I remember at both Walmart and Kmart. I can see return Hotwheel or matchbox, with a return label on the card and the car is totally different that what printed on the card. That is only $1 purchase and people do that too. I guess you can'® complain a $4 purchase

I think I saw an image of someone that got a couple wonky packs of a mix of random stuff a couple series ago but normally I hear of people ripping open packs and stealing the figs out or leaving the figure still in an open pack on the shelf.

You'd have thought if someone purchased a box and returned some, then a number of people returned singles with different bits in, they could work out who it was.

only if they record who returned it and if the returner payed with a credit card, then maybe. But that takes actual work on the stores part to investigate.

These are rare cases when people buy scammed items like that. For a lot of the posters who grabbed multiples of one they don't need, I feel they should be able to return it to get something they do need. All Ralphs and Krustys don't help too much.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
@Gooker1‌ The whole point of mini figures etc sold in blind bags is that the price can be slightly lower as the element of chance means that people will not just buy the most desirable characters first in theory. If people don't want to stand in the shop trying to touch ID them/make a mistake in their IDing then no they should not be able to return a blind bag item. If they want the specific figure and can't/don't want to touch ID them then they should go via ebay etc and pay the premium.

I hear ya. As AFOLs, I think most of us will go through the feeling process. I know I do, and I like it. I'm not one that buys and returns. I buy the ones I want and sit there in the aisle or at the CS counter just going through them til I get my sets or whatever.

But for parents and stuff who don't go through that, I can see them returning it especially if their youngin feels them up when he's at home. I'm not an advocate or returning OPENED items...but if they're still sealed, I'm all for it. Just sucks that there are those who want to scam the system.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
I actually help other people in stores if I'm touch IDing, if someone else comes over and starts looking and ask if they're looking for specifics and give them my rejects with what I think they are
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
I always do that when i was doing the feeling process, also sometimes with other AFOL in the store, we worked together!

    just bought 10 random. Got
    Homer x 3
    Lisa x 2
    Marge
    Apu
    Crusty
    Milhouse
    and
    Scratchy

Not bad for a random grab.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
^^A lot of people here have problems with other people not feeling bags in-store and then returning them after they felt them at home. I honestly don't care. Whether you are doing it in store or at home you still are leaving the unwanted ones for someone else.
  • TresillianTresillian Member Posts: 60
Well I certainly can't return them, my son and I opened each and every packet!

On another note I think these are some of the most enjoyable looking lego figures I've seen, my son absolutely loves them.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
^No, I don't think you would, I was using the ^^ to add to what @Gooker1 said. These are some of the most enjoyable figures CMFs though, it's the only set I plan on collecting so far, just gotta go to Target and feel em up!!
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
Well, I buy a box, ID the minifigures and put together sets. I will either trade the extras or sell them. I mostly trade within the forum. I would never return them to the store.

Grabbed 8 random ones from Meijer store and all different one! Not bad but all from non Homer family except Maggie.

Yes, I agree, that's why it doesn't bother me if people take home packs to feel and then return them. It's the same to me whether we do it in-store or at home. You may spend less $ feeling in store, but doing it at home and you can at least be comfortable and not feel like you're being looked at as a potential thief.

Had to go to my Walmart in Montana after work to buy Bananas and Yogurt since I have a toothache and it was after a long shift at work and my advil wore off. Cruised by the Lego section and bam, Simpsons Minifigs of course. Powered through and I believe I have them all, gonna open them all as soon as my gf calls me. Advil is doing it's job again. Homer was the first one I felt.^^ Ralph and Milhouse tho, had to compare feel several times.
  • legogallegogal Member Posts: 754
Not many in the stores in Cary, NC. I did finally manage to complete the set except for Homer, and don't know where all the Homers went. My favorites are the two daughters. There are some really cool torsos in this series!
