I would not mind it had they made the Blackbird #76022 a little bigger. I don't know if it is a lot smaller then #6869 , what I like about the Quinjet is that the hull is rather spacious. So spacious that when on display with the ramp down on the aft section minifigs can be posed actually boarding or leaving the aeroplane (though I suppose it could just as well pass for an intergalactic spaceship imo). What is not to like about the Quinjet?!
Other than that, even though it does not look like a blackbird Lockheed SR-71 reconnaissance aeroplane, the design looks okay to me. Must be really difficult to design a blackbird in Lego with all the interior features it has in the X-Men universe. A real blackbird only had room for the two pilots, not a dozen or so superheroes and a (superhero) professor in a wheelchair. As for the colour scheme, dark blue isn't too bad, but just plain black with some dark grey 'highlights' I think would have made it look more menacing.
In terms of design I like the #76021 best. I hardly know anything about the film, nor how close it resembles the ship from the film, but the design looks great regardless. Though I prefer the colour scheme of the blackbird over the bright yellow and blue used for the Milano Spaceship. (I just assume the big ship is The Milano, not the small one in that set?)
I wonder if it was to distinguish him from Gamora, or it looked better with his red tattoos.
#10543 Superman's Rescue
#10544 The Joker Challenge
#10545 Batcave Adventure
I love that The Joker is shooting bubbles.
Don't I!
I still wish Lego made sets based on the film :(
I'll still see it, and I assume I'll enjoy it, if only because my expectations have been set so low by the first film (my biggest gripe, which I feel like no one else shares, is that Garfield is such an unlikable Peter Parker, that I have an unimaginably hard time rooting for him as Spidey).
Loads of themes and sets available, with an increased capacity to produce, but a bottleneck might be forming at the point of sale, as the average consumer may have reached its total spend and not enough growth in new consumers to pick up the extra produced.
After all, the average lego-loving family/fan can only buy so much before having to start saving up again. Could supply have overtaken current demand?
If so, the result we might experience could be a cut in a lot of prices (laxative solution) or to delay some releases to let the market (digestion) catch up.
It's probably just my personal perception, but it feels like some product lines are having to 'wait it out' on the shelves until the buying public can make another purchase.
For myself, i haven't even looked at the new waves of SH or SW yet, and have even skipped on several ranges already (movie, simpsons, GQ, etc), not because i don't like them but i'm simply spent up on other sets and unable to stretch much further for now.
I did wonder what people might sphincter bout it. :oD
But it's because the themes that have come out so far just do not interest me in the slightest.
So if they're holding back because people are buying less, then they're holding back the wrong themes and sets.
#76022 Xmen
#76012 Batmobile/Riddler
#76011 Batcopter
Enjoyed them all but, the real standout was The X-Men set. Despite the lofty pricetag I pulled the trigger based on my love of the series (I'm sure this was figured into the pricing. No X-Men/Lego fan is going to pass up on this set regardless of price).
No regrets! I loved building this set. The Sentinel is pretty cool, but the Jet steals the show. The last time I felt this nostalgic was building something was the DeLorean. I expect I will find this feeling again with Ecto 1.
I made one quick change that really improved the look of the Jet. Figured I would share. I switched the grey tail wings with blue parts used in #6868 for Hawkeye's jet.
I've posted a quick image of the change below. Along with an image of the whole set floated for an action scene.
