    @Aanchir‌
I would not mind it had they made the Blackbird #76022 a little bigger. I don't know if it is a lot smaller then #6869 , what I like about the Quinjet is that the hull is rather spacious. So spacious that when on display with the ramp down on the aft section minifigs can be posed actually boarding or leaving the aeroplane (though I suppose it could just as well pass for an intergalactic spaceship imo). What is not to like about the Quinjet?!
Other than that, even though it does not look like a blackbird Lockheed SR-71 reconnaissance aeroplane, the design looks okay to me. Must be really difficult to design a blackbird in Lego with all the interior features it has in the X-Men universe. A real blackbird only had room for the two pilots, not a dozen or so superheroes and a (superhero) professor in a wheelchair. As for the colour scheme, dark blue isn't too bad, but just plain black with some dark grey 'highlights' I think would have made it look more menacing.

In terms of design I like the #76021 best. I hardly know anything about the film, nor how close it resembles the ship from the film, but the design looks great regardless. Though I prefer the colour scheme of the blackbird over the bright yellow and blue used for the Milano Spaceship. (I just assume the big ship is The Milano, not the small one in that set?)

The 76022 is way overpriced at $50 with only 336 pieces and 4 minifigs IMO.

I am genuinely L-ing OL at Drax's skull tattoos.

I thought Drax should be green.

Hes not as vibrant as in the comics, but hes definitely green.

I wonder if it was to distinguish him from Gamora, or it looked better with his red tattoos.

Yeah I think this is another case of TLG working from prelim pictures. A quick google threw up amongst others this image http://latino-review.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/gotg_poster.jpg which if I was a designer having to choose a skin tone for Drax, I'd go for grey over sand green etc.

I don't know if it really belongs in this thread, but photos of the Duplo Super Heroes sets were posted yesterday.

    #10543 Superman's Rescue
    #10544 The Joker Challenge
    #10545 Batcave Adventure

I love that The Joker is shooting bubbles.

My Ranking for Marvel (Disney) movies:
    1. Thor, The Dark World
    2. Captain America, The Winter Soldier
    3. Iron Man 3
    4. Avengers
    5. Thor
    6. Iron Man
    7. Captain America, The First Avenger
    8. Iron Man 2
    9. The Incredible Hulk

Pretty good ranking... Beside my absolute love for Kenneth Branagh's THOR, I'd agree!

Both the Batmobile and Batwing are pretty awesome in these sets!!! My kids are beyond the Duplo's now but can see me getting one just to add to Batmobile collection.

Saw on another forum that the Mini Batwing #30301 is starting to show up at TRU Canada. Hoping it will migrate to the States soon.

Do you guys think after GotG and X-men will we see anymore Superhero sets this year? (Not counting SDCC or 2015 sets released early)?

Any of you watched The Amazing Spider-Man 2? Here is my review: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/spider-man_movies/news/?a=98305

I still wish Lego made sets based on the film :(

^I haven't seen it myself, but I do have a friend who got in on an advance screening and he claims it's even worse than the first film (which I honestly don't think is possible... unless they somehow made Spider-Man 3 again). He's a huge Spidey fan, though, so he may be difficult to please (for reference, he throughly enjoyed Raimi's first two efforts).

I'll still see it, and I assume I'll enjoy it, if only because my expectations have been set so low by the first film (my biggest gripe, which I feel like no one else shares, is that Garfield is such an unlikable Peter Parker, that I have an unimaginably hard time rooting for him as Spidey).

I don't think that's just you but I think they've gone for a modern tongue in cheek spidey which grates on most people over the age of twelve.

Sony might go bankrupt soon, hopefully Marvel gets the Spidey rights back then.

I would love to see a different take on Spidey.....one that fits in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but I don't know if I would want him as part of the Avengers per se. I have not been a fan of this recent take on Spiderman.

Not sure if this has been posted, or how enlightening it is.... but there's hope!

^ Alas, I doubt that is meant to communicate the impending release of a new set, it seems more like an advertisement for the 2014 wave that's already been released.

I have a theory. Batman Arkham Knight is coming in October. I think it might be possible the rumored UCS Tumbler coming in October is in fact the Arkham Knight Batmobile, it is similar enough to be lost in translation, they both are modern more combat style vehicles and both have a jet engine that shoots flames in the back. Thoughts?

Is anyone else surprised there has been no mention of the X-Men Black Bird? I thought it would for sure be in June's store calendar with the movie being released and all...

My collection is constipated. I've acquired more sets than I can let go. I've been purging many older sets, but it doesn't seem to make much difference in my display space.

I'd be cool if they stopped making sh mf. I can't finish the frames I am making because they keep making em. lol
  • XefanXefan Member Posts: 1,148
I've bought far far less this year, hundreds and hundreds of pounds less.

But it's because the themes that have come out so far just do not interest me in the slightest.

So if they're holding back because people are buying less, then they're holding back the wrong themes and sets.

Finished building a few SH sets this month. (Birthday month for both me and my son)

    #76022 Xmen
    #76012 Batmobile/Riddler
    #76011 Batcopter

Enjoyed them all but, the real standout was The X-Men set. Despite the lofty pricetag I pulled the trigger based on my love of the series (I'm sure this was figured into the pricing. No X-Men/Lego fan is going to pass up on this set regardless of price).

No regrets! I loved building this set. The Sentinel is pretty cool, but the Jet steals the show. The last time I felt this nostalgic was building something was the DeLorean. I expect I will find this feeling again with Ecto 1.

I made one quick change that really improved the look of the Jet. Figured I would share. I switched the grey tail wings with blue parts used in #6868 for Hawkeye's jet.

I've posted a quick image of the change below. Along with an image of the whole set floated for an action scene.

^ That set looks great! I just completed the Milano spaceship from Guardians of the galaxy and I must say that it is one of the best builds I've done all year.

It does look better with the blue wings.
