[US] Retail Sales Recap Week of 4/13/14

DadsAFOLDadsAFOL Member Posts: 617
The major US retailers are vying for "Easter basket dollars" this week.

Target: +/- 10% off all Super Heroes, Ninjago, Chima. A few sets are 20% off @ $25: #76012, #70723, #70131, #41007. Last week's 20% off sales were better, but still some decent deals if you add your Red Card discount. Remember to check online - last week I found an item that was cheaper online with free in-store pickup than it was in the store. This may have been because you couldn't use the extra Cartwheel discount online.

Toys R Us: The print ad shows BOGO 40%, but online shows BOGO 50%, so definitely shop online with in store pickup this week. Sale covers all City, Star Wars, Super Heroes, Duplo, and Disney Princess. As always carefully check the RRP for the TRU tax. However there are a couple decent deals in there on sets marked down to normal RRP before the BOGO. #60026 Town Square (mislabeled as 60027 on their website), and #75019 are examples.

YoYo: 20% off purchase of 3+ sets, max discount of $50 with coupon code "LEGOPALOOZA". (Which seems like an odd coupon code to use because Coachella is this week, not Lollapalooza, but whatever) A few sets are on clearance/sale before the coupon, but YoYo seems to have added +/- 5% YoYo tax to the RRP on some sets, so make sure you check. The coupon probably is most useful on Lego Movie sets not eligible for discounts elsewhere.

And of course, Amazon will probably price match everything today.

Feel free to add anything I missed.

    "TRU tax" succinct!
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
There is also a 20% coupon for B&N members so potentially 28% any LEGO set beside regular exclusions.

Thanks for this; I was hoping for some better deals at Target this week. And TRU doesn't sell #76013, so that kind of bums me out on the TRU sale. Oh, well. They're just toys, right?

[Again, for those who are willing to deal with Shop Your Way points]

Someone at "SD" pointed out that Kmart has 20% back in points for Chima, City, Friends and Super Heroes.

I wish I have time to list all the deals, but I'll list these notable items:

#60017 Flatbed Truck - RRP $19.99, Kmart $13.77, about $2.75 back in points.
#60020 Cargo Truck - RRP $39.99, Kmart $25.99, about $5.20 back in points.
#60025 Grand Prix Truck - RRP $29.99, Kmart $20.79, about $4.15 back in points.

If you reference my other post, there are other options that will make the deal sweeter. Of course, it's YMMV.

^I took advantage of this with the dolphin cruiser (store pickup) and spider chase cycle and got nearly $20 in bonus points which I plan to use on a clearance set I've been watching.

Kmart: Some of the Friends sets have been restocked for ship to home.

There is a complicated set of promotions that you might be able to take advantage of including 20% SYW points, $5.00 in SYW points for orders over $40, free shipping on many items, additional SYW coupons you may have linked to your account and 10% Shopdiscover cashback. Dolphin Cruiser and Olivia's House were already marked down increasing savings from retail.

Also Target has added 2 more deals to Cartwheel.
    10% off Lego Friends
    10% off Star Wars Microfighters

Not great discounts, but discounts nonetheless.

.^ I think it is 10% off #41000, not all Friends set

HA. That's if you can find one! My nearby Freds' have been completely void of stock for nearly two months...

Might I say, that a thread like this that compiles all sales is absolutely genius. We need more of these.

TRU.com BOGO is now 40%. Hopefully ya'll placed your orders yesterday! There is a limit of 2 sets per type and 3 different types of sets per order.
  • legogregorslegogregors Member Posts: 402
Kmart appears to have reset their prices to full retail so all you get is points now. It might have been a glitch earlier. Also, the $5 bonus points for over $40 orders are supposed to be activated 4/20 and can only be used for a week.

I only saw one 'deal' that I would be interested in for the TRU BOGO50, which was the Town Square and could not pull the trigger because yoyo.com is having a much better deal on many LEGO sets IMO. Now that it is BOGO40 I definitely.

    Kmart, again:

Since there's a NEW $5 in surprise points... what's the deal with websites changing prices daily!

I believe these are new, lower prices for the following:

    #70132 Chima Scorm's Scorpion Stinger - RRP $40, Kmart $28.86 + 20% pts
#76012 Super Heroes Batman: The Riddler Chase - RRP $30, now $25 + 20% pts

Geez... my stash of discounted gift cards are about the run out... I won't be able to stack the discounts for the next price drop

^It looks like there was supposed to be another 5% extra off (exp 4/16) on top of the 20% off promo, but I did not get it. It's almost worth it to call customer service about it, but I'm guessing they're going to tell me that it's not suppose to stack.

#76005 Spider Man set is $42.64 and with $5 in instant surprise points + 20% extra points can be had for a very respectable $30.11 plus tax (40% off). However, you have to use store pickup.

5% adds up if you use/select the in store pickup

Thanks @teal93mr2! I have been wanting that set and with the extra 5% off and the points I already had was able to get it for $27.50 which is well below my price target for it in the first place.

I do not have a local Kmarts anymore. Years, ago, I believe they closed down most of their shops as an effort to consolidate and then later was bought out by Sears. Regardless, they never moved back into our neck of the woods. Where the stores used to be, I probably burn enough gas to make up the 5% anyway...

@pharmjod: I usually count the points as "cash" since I count the points received as part of the discount of the original purchase. It's easier for me to track that way. Similar with VIP points. I usually only use them for CMFs, but I do not count them as freebies.

only problem with kmart is sometimes the order comes in plastic package :( so the box will be crushed :P .... and their UPC is incorrect i.e. item will read #60027 monster truck transport and item inside will be #60020 auto transport :) not sure what they will ship for #60020 .. worth seeing

Did anyone else see the electronic coupon posted on KMart's Facebook page today? It gives you $3.00 off any toy purchase of $10.00 or more.

I used the coupon + another $3.00 in surprise points to grab #76015 Doc Ock Truck Heist. I actually had another .74 in points, so I was out the door for 13.08 after tax. Not to shabby.

couldn't find an electronic one--only in-store. however, i did just buy a couple things to earn SYWR. total was $67 or so for retail $93 in sets. I redeemed $18 SYWR for a sub-total of $49; earned $27 more SYWR.
