    I wonder what the history of this set is since the box says "Designed by Lego Fans". What fans? Some early Cuuso program? The bosses daughter?

    The interiors have come a long way but I wish lego would sell the interior as a seperate kit or perhaps a Deluxe Edition so city-scapers like me would not be paying for unneeded features.

    It was designed only from elements that were available from LDD at the time I believe.

    Eric Brok was the designer. I've bought two 10190s in the past year on ebay. The first was shipped fully assembled. I didn't fully appreciate 10190 until I got the second set and built it myself. It's just so quirky and uses so many creative building techniques. I know it's not everyone's favorite, but I have a lot of respect for Mr Brok 's work. From what I understand, Mr Brok passed away shortly after the set was released. I'm far from a Lego expert, so if I got any of the facts wrong, I apologize. Anyway, 10190 is a winner in my book.

    Sorry to hear about his passing. To get the attention of TLG and have your design turned into a Lego set is quite a feat, but nevertheless, I feel it is an inferior set compared to the rest of the Modulars. I sold mine a few years ago because I thought it was too "quirky".

    "Quirky" is why I like Market Street better than the Fire Brigade. I admire that it looks like it was designed by an AFOL using misc. parts. It's charming in a way that something like Town Hall is not.

    ^That's fine. I'm not knocking anyone for liking Market Street. Just because I don't like it, doesn't mean others won't :)

    It doesn't surprise me in the least that @mathew likes "quirky" ;)

    My Lego PAB order finally came in (it took 21 days) so was able to finish the project. I know that ya'll know what it looks like, so here's what doing the mix-and-match with the various levels looks like. This will complete my modular main street except that I havent build the Parisian Cafe yet. I think I might try some of those wonderful design that are listed on ebay and other places for my next build. Anyway, it was fun to piece together. By the way, it took togther no extra effort (just extra money) to build 2 vice 1. If anyone is interested in buying the extra one, drop me a PM.

    Thank @ecmo47‌ for showing the completed build. It's brilliant. I now only want to collect all the modulars. I'm not interested in anything else. Especially after completing the Haunted House.

    I 'BL'd' a Market Street back when it cost about 250 to build one (using LEGO rep parts and BL and only bought new parts). I have had my fill. Namely due to the price of some of the parts now.
    But found that I had to rely on BL as it had a better list of parts, as LEGO as LEGO apparently started substituting available parts of parts that were out of stock (Namely the white train type windows)

    You really have to keep an eye on the instructions, even in the regular instruction book as sometimes there is a lot going on for each step.


    All in all I like BLing sets, especially now that I have found the seller that has some repro stickersfor rare sets that I could never afford as a set

    ^ Yeah, the cheapest BL store in the US that has the 10 you need has them for $6.50 each. Now I know part of the reason the #10183 and #10173 trains are so expensive.

    False Alarm!!! Bricklink says that the White Window with Shutter Holes and Solid studs on the ends were in the #3405 Blue Soccer Bus and #3411 Team Transport Bus. They aren't the same windows at all.

    I highly doubt that most of the sets listed with these windows are not correct either. I need to check #7034 as well.

    This is discouraging news to say the least :(

    The #3405 has the same train windows used in Market street.
    Also explains that for a while they were cheap, until everyone wanted to BL a Holiday train and Market street

    ^That is what I'm saying. #3405 doesn't contain the same windows. The Brinklink inventory is incorrect.

    ^ Yes, but that window style did come in some of the soccer sets, so it's possible both styles were used. The all hollow studs pre-dates the other by 10 years or so, they probably had some left over and used them to get rid of them.

    So, all the soccer sets I bought had ALL the old windows and none of the new style? I don't know about that. I'm still thinking that someone made a mistake in the Bricklink inventory because they also said that some sets dating back to 1996 had the Solid Stud ends. I can bet that the new style windows mold came a few years AFTER 2000.

    I just pulled out #7034 Police Surveillance Truck and it had the new style windows. This came out in 2003. The Soccer Bus came out in 2000 and was only available until 2002. I am going to stand by my assertion that the new style windows were not available in any Soccer Set, especially the Bus, even though Bricklink says they were.

    I took too long to edit my post. Here is the rest of it.

    Actually, the studs outside dates to 1993 in white (part # 6556 ), all studs hollow dates to 1983 in white ( part # 4033 ). I can check my other sets easily for those years and get back to you.

    Either that or someone broke the seals on your boxes and knowing that they would be rare in the future, took them all out and replaced them with the more common windows:)

    ^ I believe you, and I know BL isn't infallible. I have the same bus at home that I would like to check but it is so buried in the pile of buckets, it would take me a week to find it.

    Hahahaha. I wasn't trying to argue. Sometimes text can be taken the wrong way :) I just wanted to add to the conversation and be constructive. I didn't want anyone buying cheap Soccer Buses in hopes to score some Market Street windows and be ripped off. There are (7) in the Soccer Bus sets. I can buy these used for around $15 on EBay. That's a great deal...if they actually contained the right windows ;)

    Can someone confirm which window piece is used in Market Street? I have two different verions. Small detail but paying attention to the details.



    In the database it says the second one but in the instructions it looks like the first one.

    Read the whole thread as I have ideas about an MOC version of it. Little simpler than some others to base a beginner MOC off of. Even without any of the rare pieces it still won’t be cheap so I haven’t gotten any farther than the wanted list for the parts at this point.

    @ecmo47 The part out value on Bricklink is around $ 600, so not too bad. Of course you have to add in shipping costs when buying from multiple sellers....

    Most of the pieces are available directly through Lego. When Bricks and Pieces goes back online in the beginning of February, take a look and see how many of the elements are available.  This way, you're getting as much as possible from one source.  Do it during double VIP points to make it most worth your while. The owl, dark blue arches, correct train windows, and a smattering of other pieces are ones you'll have to Bricklink, but if you use BL's new(ish) Easy Buy option from your wanted list it'll streamline your order.  It's really a pretty good option for them to have made. I had quite a number of bricks in my inventory already so I decided it was worthwhile. All things considered I probably spent about $200.  But I did skip the train windows as I had the correct quantity of the new molds in my inventory, and when it came to $70+ dollars for the originals vs. $0 for the new ones, it was an easy call.  I figured, it's not like subbing the sand green grooved 1x2s from the Grocer out, which would destroy the look.  I BL'd CC and Market Street and it was substantially less than buying even used copies.  Luckily, I was able to get most of the hard-to-find bricks from the Grocer from a coworker of mine.

    I am in the process of finding all the pieces to the Market Street and Green Grocer sets that I took apart many years ago. All the pieces got mixed back into my collection so now it's just the game of sorting and finding them again. I found 3/4 of the white hoses and hoping the 4th one will show itself so I can avoid having to spend $10 on one. I know I probably lost a few pieces along the way, just don't want them to be the more expensive ones. 

    I just finished finding the majority of the pieces to Cafe Corner. I am missing around 10 pieces though so bricklink here I come.
