Just got back from the Lego store with a 10221 and a 10243. Double points. Now, off to build.

We are in Lego lock down...*sob* our house is now on the market, and when we get viewings, it's not going to look good with Lego everywhere. So it has been hidden out of sight until we move.

I'm going to go through Lego withdrawals...I don't know if I can take this torture....

Cleaning dirt and some raccoon excrement off containers of Lego, some of which must be at least 30 years old. Creating inventory lists: counting axles.

^ And you celebrated that one year since joining the forum by pretending to be banned from the forum as an April Fools joke to me and @CapnRex101 , didn't you @rancorbait ;-) :-P

    Sorry I couldn't resist revealing that ;-)

So, my status for today: Annoyed right now because I was pranked by @rancorbait yesterday.

    Sorry ;o)

Is really too bad that I was only told that I could delete my activity after I changed my avatar back to my rancor though!.... ;o)

^ You didn't do it properly anyway! When a user is actually banned there is a grey icon by their posts with that red one on their profile page. If you'd like to try it out I can get that arranged for you ;o)
  • rancorbaitrancorbait Member Posts: 1,842
@Matthew I checked that, and as far as I know, the thumbnail is the same as the one on the profile page...

Thanks for the offer though :oP

Sorting out FB sets for Dumfries and I may have to re think my box fussy nature. If donation sets are a little knocked about I'm not bothered and I'm finding it liberating not caring about box condition. I open everything eventually anyway so should I be concerned if a corner is slightly knocked on a personal set? I'm starting to think I shouldn't.

I found this video which apparently is what Jaime Berard had on display at a Lego convention and this is how he got offered his job at Lego: https://myspace.com/sideshowjamie/video/lego-amusement-park-rides/838555

It pretty amazing and very inspiring.

Doing multiple washes on a 5 cubic foot pile of Lego, that is encrusted with mud, leaves and dead insects. I've put this off for several years and it is not at all fun. I leave it soaking in warm water and soap for a hour, then have to pour off the filthy water and pull off bits of leaves, rinse off the residue and repeat. The worst is railway track that also needs scrubbing on toothed rail sections that holds the dart.

    Don't usually post these but......

Remember the Minion that @graphite‌ built last year? Well he kindly offered up the instructions and @cheshirecat‌ used them to build his own. After spotting it decorating the fireside I asked if it was available to be displayed in the store showcase. Permission was given all round for a true international effort :-) Little'uns were added for perspective.

What can you do instead of Lego?????

My. Lego is in the cupboard, I can't do any in case people want to view the house, but I'm dying of Lego withdrawal here.

I have tried playing games on the iPad, I've tried reading, I've tried watching TV, I've even bought more Lego (The Leaning Tower of Pisa). But nothing is working....

What do you do to sedate the craving to build?

Ha ha ha. I wish I could lol. I am cleaning the bathrooms at the moment to keep my hands busy. But when I finish...well I don't know.
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
Do you have any small sets, or just a small collection of pieces, that you can easily put away? For example, I've got various small bags of pieces (picked out for MOCs I haven't finished) that I can just dump out, build with, then quickly put away.
  • Bluefairy_56Bluefairy_56 Member Posts: 320
Yes I have small sets, but I have done them all just recently. I want to do my unopened HH, which I promised myself I won't open until we moved house. So that could be months or next year. But I know it will take hours to build and then I won't have the heart to dismantle it straight the way.

I might just see how much it would be to bricklink my London Bus I want to MOC, at least it gives me something to do with Lego lol.

You can do what I do and spend all day looking at Brickset including threads pertaining to continents you don't live on and then browsing your collection and trying to decide what you want to build first when you finally get the chance.

I caved and built my Haunted House. It was fantastic to build. I love all the windows, and the way they have made look so run down and old. It took me 8 1/2 hours to build. Well that certainly took the edge off. I'm happy now.

After learning the Raptor I ordered to complete the #5884 Raptor Chase was born with two left feet and TLG had no right feet available to replace the amputated leg, I was excited to find another raptor up for adoption (sale) and he is now happily residing with the rest of our Dino sets (all three of them)!

When I came out of my Dark Ages 18 months ago, I built my own interpretations of CC, GG and MS. Today I decided it was time to BL the lot of them. Just sorting through my spares now to see what I've got...

My wallet will hate me for it and my 'interpretations' will feel jealous, but my town will look so much better!

537 pieces from my own stash, Lego PAB order, Lego Replacement Bricks order and 17 Bricklink orders (Yes, probably not the most efficient!) have now located the pieces needed for my CC. 1st BL order arrived today!

I didn't have the patience to work out what I needed for all 3 modulars (CC, MS and GG) in one go and bet I will pay for it big time in postage :( Must do GG and MS together, must do GG and MS together, must do...

Still, with any luck, I'll have all the pieces with me in time to have a fantastic Easter!!!
  • Bluefairy_56Bluefairy_56 Member Posts: 320
@Briking‌ well done. I am brick linking a London Bus #760. I now just need the windows and slope bricks and I have finished finding the pieces. It has been fun so far, and heaps cheaper than trying to do it through evilbay. I'd love to do the Fire Brigade, seeing as I haven't been able to afford the set straight out. At least with brick linking you can do it as you go, you don't need to make huge massive orders (unless you have the money).

How much was it to brick link the Corner Cafe?
  • BrikingBriking Member Posts: 768
    Thanks @Bluefairy_56‌ :)

I think it might be around £400 for CC... Some of the BL stores I used had minimum purchase limits I could only hit by buying pieces I knew I needed for GG as well (Sand Green 1x8 brick springs to mind) and I ordered extra 16x32 green baseplates from Lego Replacement Parts. So unfortunately (or possibly fortunately!) I haven't done the exact maths on the CC parts alone yet. Hopefully I'll have a total for all 3 of them before summer (though I hope my wife never finds out!) and at least an approximate split between the 3.

The #760 seems to point to a storage cabinet? Do you have a picture of the bus? You'll enjoy the Fire Brigade! And if you're not into Modulars already, you sure will be hooked :) Be afraid, Be very afraid...
  • Bluefairy_56Bluefairy_56 Member Posts: 320
Try #760-2 that should give you the London Bus.

I have built the Haunted House, that's what has got me hooked. Now I don't want anything else, besides the Tower Bridge of course, but modulars. Nothing else makes me want to go out and buy it...lol

    Thanks for the info.
  • Bluefairy_56Bluefairy_56 Member Posts: 320

Had to go buy more new storage boxes as I sort through my old rotting cardboard boxes. And I got evicted from the dining room, since we have guests coming, and I have no idea how to fit all this in my home office.

Ever since I took my kids to see The LEGO Movie, every Tuesday has been Taco night at my house. It was novel at first, but it's kind of getting old, two months later.

Just found out that Just2Good received two copyright strikes from LEGO for his thoughts video on the TMNT movie sets. Unless it's resolved, for the next six months he can only do 15 minute videos. It's really crazy, because Brickshow got away with posting pics of the sets AND get to monetise the video. I hope it's gets resolved though.

@Wil348 how does a video review (I'm assuming that's what Just2Good is) possibly breach copyright? That just doesn't make any sense. I'm struggling to grasp what could have happened to provoke such a claim by TLG. Anyone care to explain? What am i missing?

I'm guessing it's because of the leaked pictures of the TMNT movie sets. Thing is, there was no watermark on the images, they were finalised. Apparently other LEGO Youtubers have received strikes for posting them too, apart from big channels Brickshow and Brickqueen who got off without even a request to take the videos down.

Oh, and my CC project is coming along. One of my two Lego parcels is allegedly with Yodel, so that may be some time... The replacement parts one - How sweet it would be if the Danes sent it before Easter!

Of my 17 BL orders (Yes - I did say I could probably have been more efficient!!), I've already received 4. 11 more have shipped. And then there's the two out-layers. Mr Paid and Ms Pending. What is the normal process for treating the lazy sellers? I understand people don't like bad feedback, but... I don't like a late completion!;-)

Spending a second night in the hospital with my four year old after he had his appendix out. We built Rogons Rock Flinger and Braptors Wing Striker today and that has cheered him up quite a bit.
