Even if it's temporary due to the generic 20% off coupon they have going right now, it's still quite annoying.
This reminds me of Borders handing out 40% off coupons, but all of their LEGO was about 30% over RRP
I still wonder about Kohls and Joanna's they have constant gimmicky sales with coupons yet they seem to rake in the cash... I guess it's because it actually lowers msrp?
Example 1: Last week, no Technic set was a Hot Price in-store (either by the red sticker or the "HP" listed on the shelf sticker). This week, most every Technic set has both indications on the shelf sticker.
Example 2: A month or so age, the Emerald Express was $5.99 regular price, then it suddenly moved to $6.99 at the exact same time a 20% off Lego sale happened.
So you have no idea week-to-week knowing what is or is not a "hot price" item, nor the original price to figure out your discount. Sometimes you don't even know until you get into the actual store, because online isn't reliable either. Right now online at TRU, the Mobile Crane is listed for $239.99 on sale for $219.99. In-store (at least in a couple Michigan stores) it's listed on the shelf sticker for $199.99.
Stupid TRU.
*Expires soon, not valid on 99% of items, maybe cause irritable bowel, internal bleeding and possibly death.

I didn't buy any, so I don't know if the 20% off would work. It doesn't look like there's any marking of Hot Price and I wasn't sure if Clearance is excluded.

They also have 70011 Chima Eagle's Castle on sale for $22.50 which is 50% TRU / 45% RRP. It's retired at S@H, so if you missed it...
MSRP of all 3 sets is $139.97
With 20% off coupon, price is $79.99
