    I've done a few steam engines recently, my 4-6-2 engine (now rather smoother) and my twin 0-6-0 pannier tank engines (now with proper connecting rods) being my most recent, and I thought it was time to do another :)

    All my previous trains were done in 6-wide, but I've found that a bit too restrictive recently - it's very hard to get a proper 'round' look for the boiler in that scale, so I thought I'd try 7-wide this time and see what it looked like.

    I also wanted to do a different class of engine, and 2-8-0 seemed sufficiently different to anything I've done so far. I based the design on the British LMS (London, Midland and Scottish Railway) Stanier Class 8F, built between 1935 and 1946.

    This is the engine I based it on, but I chose to do it in black rather than dark red. It's not perfect - the chimney is a bit too far back, and the hoses I've used on the sides curve upwards a bit, but overall I'm pretty pleased with it. The tender is built to take Power Functions too, although it doesn't currently have them in there.

    Started on the #75005 & 9156 combo this afternoon. Very disappointed up to now, finished the "pit" in under one hour. Hopefully the Palace makes it feel a worthwhile build.

    Just finished an eblay purchased #5580. The instructions back then were a bit more challenging than more recent sets. Now that our BL orders are in we can get back to building the alternate build of set #42000 and also set #5885.

    My stepson decided he would buy it for me with some compensation money he's just received that he was awarded when he was 9.

    Agree...let us know what you think of the building technique for the front portion of the roof.

    I went to the Lego Store yesterday and purchased the #10224 Town Hall. I got the last one they had, and the clerk told me it was soon to be retired. I am glad I got it now. So far, I have the ground floor section completed. Just one issue with 2 small 1x2 flat tiles being in the wrong shade of gray, light gray when it should be dark gray. I hope nothing else is amiss as I finish up the rest.

    Sure it's going to be retired. In late 2015.

    Just finished #10672 - Batman: Defend the Batcave with my son, I am pretty impressed: I am loving the printed details on this set, as well and has many parts, including the figures, with new or color schemes that appeal to the AFOL in me. the Batman and Robin harken back to the 1960s TV show.

    Also built #10668 - The Princess Play Castle with my 3 year old, and again I am loving the simplicity these junior sets are really well designed for the younger children yet provide harder to find pieces in some cases that make them worth it.

    Opened #75034 and #75035 and as a ROTS fan I have to say the Kashyyyk troopers are AWESOME!!!

    Just finished #4508 Titan XP a little bit ago. It was a little hard to distinguish between the colors (Sand Blue, Dark Bley, Light Bley, and Black) in the instruction manual, but I think I got them all right.

    Got to the end of book 1 for #10220. Canny level of interior detail.

    Is this the bit that everyone has trouble with? Built the whole roof without a hitch, but was careful to press the whole roof assembly down firmly on our flat wooden floor before applying to the body.

    I've finished. Quite a few spares, but 2 missing pieces, a 2 x 1 white plate (missing one of the 2 in the front grille assembly, and don't have one spare in my parts bin) and a 4x 1 white plate that was needed to join the middle and back portions of the roof (I had one of these to spare from the parts bin).

    Didn't apply the window stickers - for a tiny white line in a few windows, seemed a pointless detail to me for the fear of spoiling the transparency of the window with a badly placed fingerprint or air bubble.

    Great build and great finished product with lots of interior and exterior space. Made mine RHD.

    Just finished #70810 Sea Cow. Great build and very visually striking. Also very heavy as I found out when I picked it up and tipped it over. Fortunately it's quite robust so required only minimal reassembling!

    Just finished #21103 - The DeLorean Time Machine. Has some interesting techniques I need to get 1 more to display both from the 1st and the 3rd movie's. Displaying next to the Curiosity Rover which was also a very cool build.

    ^ A "grab a prize" machine filled with Toy Story Aliens would have been the icing on the cake for that model.

    ^ I've been working on that MOC since 2009, LOL. Unfortunately I went back to uni at the same time, so I've only been very slowly accumulating the pieces for it (ie, one minifigure a month kind of thing).

    Can't wait to have a real job... (and no more student loan!)

    @Paperballpark, how are you handling the front two wheels with that configuration (i.e. with the 2x liftarm providing a 2-pivot connection)? I've been working on a 2-8-4 and tried that method, but it allowed the front truck to wobble way too much, plus it catches on the switches often. I'm in the midst of trying a single point connection which keeps it steady, but it requires a relatively long distance between the pivot point and the wheels to handle Lego's tight curves.

    Just finished the Galactic Titan. Great set and I found out that you can motorize it.

    A little local competition called for creations using no more than 80 blocks, were representative of the town the competition was in, and a couple of other rules.
    I made a tram car: actually I made two - a 'normal' size one and a 1/2 scale one.

    @TheLoneTensor that's almost exactly the problem I have.Those two wheels don't sit parallel with the track when going around curves. I need to modify it so that it will actually take curves properly, but it's just been a display piece so far, so it hasn't mattered yet!

    Building sets from our last bulk purchase. So far about 10 sets some complete with minifigs, others complete except for minifigs, others with pieces missing. Last completed #9093 Bone Crusher, still to find pieces #5884 Raptor Chase and #10220 VW Camper along with a couple of others.

    2-Tower Bridge of Beijing errr London and the 2014 Emerald express.

    3-Junior "Defend Bat cave and 76012 "The Riddler Chase "

    4- The new (slightly tweaked) Bat mobile

    5- Creator ,Furry Creatures.

    Following are a few quick shots of my newest MOC, a scene inspired by Ruislip Operatic Society's forthcoming production of "The Wiz". This is the point where Dorothy and her friends arrive at the Emerald City and are refused entrance by the Gatekeeper, who is subsequently...persuaded...to change his mind by the Tin Man.

    The vignette will form part of our advertising campaign, and will go on display in the local library in a couple of weeks.
