I haven't as yet found anything exciting at the OP shops and secondhand shops I frequent, but I go regularly in hope one day of finding something great.

But I just bought on special:
Monster Fighters Ghost Train - $109
    Monster Fighters Hearse - $40
    Monster Fighters Mummy - $14.50
    Monster Fighters Werewolf - $30

These are cheaper than I could have got them on eBay, so I am happy. I am waiting to see if my nearest toy store can get me the Monster Fighters Haunted House, I so want this.

I'm pretty sure the Ghost Train is going for well under $109 on ebay. I hope you meant Vampyre Castle.

I don't know how much of a difference it makes, but @Bluefairy_56 is in Australia.

    ^ Big, thanks.

Yes I am in Australia and the postage costs are huge from the USA.

No I meant the Ghost train. I just looked up on KMarts web site for Monster Fighters and they had advertised the Ghost Train for $69 and the Werewolf for $29. So I took my printout to them and they priced matched it for both, so I ended up saving $46.

So I definitely got it cheaper than eBay. Lol

Another 40 lb lot of bulk. So far the sets that appear to be complete or nearly so are #8081 Extreme Cruiser, #42011 Race Car, #31006 Highway Speedster, #5884 Raptor Chase, #60017 Flatbed Truck, #60060 Auto Transporter, #4431 Ambulance, and #10220 VW Van. There are also loads of parts from Chima, SW, Super Heroes, and other sets. In the stack of books there are books on three of the modulars, several 3 in 1 sets, etc.

Not really a brag, but... stopped by a John Lewis today and found a nearly empty CMF Series 11 box. Bought the last two figs and asked for the box and they gave it to me :) More storage!

I just managed to track down the monster fighters Haunted House at Kmart for $169. I rang through a list of Kmart stores to find one that had them. I had even tried to get one through our local Toyworld store with no luck.

I will be picking it up tomorrow...YES!!! Lol

Glad to hear you found one @Bluefairy_56‌

I actually found another one today at $169 ($152 USD). Not bad considering RRP is $269.99.

Picked up 9516 Jabba's Palace for €49.99 in Smyths Toys. It had been reduced initially to €79.99, which I didn't bite at, but this was too much to resist.

I HAD been having trouble completing my TLM CMFs set (They sellout so fast everywhere they are normal price it seems lol). had a couple hours this morning waiting on a coworker to fly in at MSP so decided to go over to the Mall of America store for a bit. they had put 4 BOXES of them in the bin this morning (they said)... set complete! picked up a full set (just in case I am mistaken on my prior IDing lol) plus the main chars for my nieces so got Martian Manhunter too. WOOT!

holy cow it took awhile to find a catlady btw!

if any are in the MSP area looking for some, there are 500(-ish lol) pandas and a few barristas in the front right corner (facing) and several Emmets/cops/lord business in the back right and the rest kind of went left. i kept running out of wildstyles or she would be there too lol. I was organizing them some because people kept looking for specific ones so I started making piles so I could hand one over when someone stopped to look for one (since I was already feeling them up lol).

ah well. ;D mission achieved lol

I managed to get 2 tmnt shell raisers(MSRP $60) on sale for 17.98 at target. One built, one as a parts pack. Might raid the second for a few parts for the first one.

Then I got a lego The Hobbit Dol Guldur Ambush for 5.98 as a parts pack.

After going through a pile of Lego I got at an OP shop years ago. I did a search and found I in fact had 2 maybe 3 sets here. They are Syrius Robo-Guardian #6949 I have all but 3 Lego pieces and the 2 astronauts. The other set is Syrius Saucer Scout #6835 I have all but 1 Lego piece and the astronaut.

I can get these pieces on eBay cheaply, so that's great. Not a bad buy for only $5.

I still have a load of Syrius pieces, so maybe there is another set in there, I have some more searching to do :)

Picked up a #79014 for $29.75 at our local Meijer. 50% off clearance plus a 15% off general merchandise coupon.

If any Lego collectors in the Midwest with access to Meijer stores aren't signed up for Mperks you're missing out. I can't tell you how many times we've saved 15-30% off on top of clearance prices!

I was in a local garden centre last week which has Lego, but never at anything less than RRP and spotted #76012 Batman: The Riddler Chase for £11.99 (60% off a 2014 set)! I even took it to the customer service desk to check the price and told them it should be £29.99. The lady on the desk was more than happy to let me have two at £11.99 (verging on encouraging me to take two) and took the last one off the shelf to buy herself before changing the price on the system and putting some more stock out at £29.99.

I feel sorry for the other customers who will never get the same chance you did. If a store labels an item with the wrong price that is their fault for not checking it. I'd consider yourself lucky you got a bargain. But now no one else will...

^ Come on. It's not like he took advantage then told. @KingDave did the right thing, or at a minimum he did not do the wrong thing!
  • Bluefairy_56Bluefairy_56 Member Posts: 320
Yeah I know, but it just seems unfair.

^ & ^^ I saw no reason to not point out their mistake to them. They are an independent local business, but I would do the same for any size company. There is no reason to take advantage of company just because the opportunity is there. (yes I hand in wallets to the police and leave the cash in, bonkers I know!)

^ In Michigan (and some other states in the US), there are pricing laws that require retailers to sell it for the price listed, either by sticker or shelf/display sign. Not only that, if it scans incorrectly via barcode, you get it for the lower price, and the retailer has to pay you up to $5 bounty for finding the scanner error.

Like you mentioned though, enforcing such against an independent would be pretty douchy.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,477
That rule doesn't exist in the UK, some retailers have pricing policies that allow similar though. I don't know if they still do, but Tesco used to do a double the difference policy, whereby if something scanned through at a price higher than the shelf edge label and you "didn't notice" before paying they would refund you double the difference. Had an amazing score on that once (no Lego unfortunately) but I bought about half a dozen items that were all mis priced, ended up coming away with more money in my pocket than I entered the shop with.

Well done @KingDave. Of course you did the right thing by being so upfront with them. Occasionally I see things on here about getting one over on a retailer that make me wince and it makes a nice change to see the opposite.

Not exactly a 'great' find but I just picked up #10197 at $150 retail less 5% VIP match from Legoland Discovery in Westchester. My first modular - I'd been humming and harring when it EOLd, and this seemed to be a sign - especially if I can use it as a Ghostbusters station.

I just picked up a #4954 for $100 on Craigslist...used but complete. I am trying to go back and get all the Creator houses from 07-10 and finding a decent deal on some of the older ones is pretty tough.

Yesterday at the Goodwill I picked up a used #6163 with a used #851627 inside. The #6163 has its box and instructions and is missing only 3-4 pieces. The #851627 is 100% complete but without its packaging. I paid $4.99 for them.

I lucked out twice last week. I helped a guy move and got 45 pounds of bricks and mini figures. (only about 10 minutes of moving) I also bought 60 pounds of bricks and figs for $300, which is ok, but I was able to build a Market Street from the pieces, and there were about 100 figs.

I just bought myself Big Ben #21013-1 for my birthday today. I looked on Just Bricks and it was $69.95 and they were sold out. So I looked on the Myer store and they had it for $49.95. So I thought I'd grab it while it was still available and still at a low price. I'm happy lol.

Scored myself several Lone Range #79110 (Silver Mine Shootout) sets at 73% off! Originally $150MZD; down to $40NZD! Bought 4 sets, two for parts, and 2 to on-sell hopefully at enough profit to cover the cost of the two sets I'm keeping!

I picked up a boxed 270 for under $20.00 including shipping. It looks like an assembled set rather than an original, it has too much resembles to the BrickLink and Peeron inventories. But still its killer deal. You can't buy most the individual bikes and cycles let alone the box for that kind of price.
  • KiwiLegoMeisterKiwiLegoMeister Member Posts: 212

I stopped at a Kroger Marketplace this morning on the way to work to get coffee creamer, found a number of sets on sale 50% off. I got 3x #79005 Wizard Battle, 3x #76002 Metropolis Showdown, 2x #60011 Surfer Rescue, 1x #70401 Gold Getaway, 3x #70403 Dragon Mountain, 5x #70400 Forest Ambush, and 1x #70700 Space Swarmer (the only one that was 75% off).

They all had clearance stickers covering the UPCs, the kind that don't come off easily without tearing up the box. Still, these will make for good parts, figures, and gifts.

I managed to score bag 3 of the golden dragon set for 5.11 off ebay today. It may just be the dragon's wings but there's some really good parts in that bag
