I checked two Walmarts this morning and found next to nothing. The only thing I saw was a #9472 Attack on Weathertop for $40. If anyone is in the Baltimore area, it's still sitting on the shelf, behind a couple other sets, at the Port Covington Walmart.

That set has been on clearance for 40for about a year now...Sheesh!

I would guess the Marketplace stores... I rarely see more than 1 or 2 sets at regular Kroger stores, and they are generally the $15 or less types.

Looked around a local Walmart(Milford, Ohio) today and saw LOTR the Black Gate for $40, the Clone Troopers vs. Droidekas for $9, Superman: Battle of Smallville for $40, and a couple of others(HF and City). They are starting to mark them down slowly but surely.
  • OUWxGuesserOUWxGuesser Member Posts: 92
At ours Walmart in ND, there were a few sets at ~30% off or so. A castles set, sponge bob stuff, a few galaxy squad sets, and a couple random duplo kits. Really wish some of the SW stuff would be reduced!
  • oansunoansun Member Posts: 87
Walmart: I picked up 66021 Cargo Heliplane for $25 today. Saw quinjet for $50 amongst other small discounts. Kmart had all the LOTR second wave on clearance shelf but just 10% off so far

Yes, I meant the Marketplace. I asked because a year or two ago, regular Kroger did stock small Lego sets in their seasonal aisle. I missed all the 75% off deals that year because I assumed people meant the Marketplace stores.

In any case, thank you very much for the heads-up about Kroger's clearance. I managed to get 50% off Constitution Train Chase AND combined it with a 25 off 100 promo in toys (ends today, a local promo?). Oddly, none of the other TLR sets are on clearance.
  • kim43235kim43235 Member Posts: 165
^ Constitution Train for 50% sounds good. Mine had only those two sets for sale. Maybe I should hit other stores as well.

Would you mind elaborate on 25 off 100 promo? That sound pretty sweet. Was that in the flyer?
  • busumoe1busumoe1 Member Posts: 194
^It was simply a tiny piece of paper taped to the shelves. I did not see it in the weekly ad. The sign stated that it was $10 off $50 or $25 off $100 for toys, storage and furniture. Maybe there was something else but I stopped reading it once I saw the word "toys".

I have never seen such promotion before at Kroger, but I was curious if it is a one time discount or per transaction. I asked the cashier to ring them up in multiple transactions. I think he was a bit hesitant but went along. Each time it took off $25. But for my last transaction, although it was over $100, only the $10-off came up. I had some other items with different promotion applied with that transaction, so may have taken off too much and thus it was less than $100. I didn't want to push my luck, and extra $10 off half-priced Lego is still a bonus.

Lastly, ever since Kroger became an option for Lego clearances, I broke down and got yet another credit card; the AMEX Everyday Blue card. Extra 3 or 6% off, pending on the option you pick. It's my first year owning the card, so I went with no fees and 3% off.
  • kim43235kim43235 Member Posts: 165
^ Thanks for the info. I did not see that wording on the shelves so it sounds like regional promotions.

BTW, I have AMEX Blue Preferred which gives 6% supermarket purchase. I don't spend as much I used to so I may consider to switch to non-preferred to avoid annual fees.

Also Kroger fuel perks is another icing on the cake. I hope Giant Eagle carries lego someday since they have better fuel program.

My WM have the the normal 30% off clearance again. SE Jabba's Sail Barge($79), Republic Gunship($79) and the City Cargo plane ($69) were the only enticing sets to think about. SH sets from $49 to $35, $29 sets to $21, SW Rancor Pit $40.
  • busumoe1busumoe1 Member Posts: 194
I didn't know that there are others who are interested in Legos at Kroger, but here is a bit more info.

I did visit another Marketplace. The same items were on clearance but prices are different. This other store did not advertise the discount promotion, but it did come up went I checked out.

Since the clearance items are the same, it's quite possible that they are marked down but someone forgot to put up the sign. From memory, these are other items I saw:

    - #9498 - Saesee Tiin's Jedi Starfighter - RRP $30 ($15 or $20 at Kroger)
    - #44014 - Jet Rocka RRP $35 ($12.50 or $17.50)
    - #6912 - Super Soarer RRP $7 ($1.75)
    - #6911 - (I think), ($1.75)
    - Some $13 Duplo set, in blister pack, 50% off.
    - #41000 - Friends Water Scooter Fun ($3.75, I think at Kroger)

Non-Lego (I know, I know, but someone may be interested)
    - Mega Bloks Barbie Build 'n Style Luxury Mansion Retail $80, $20 at Kroger
    - some MB Skylander also 50% off.

I can confirm the 30% off sale at my WM. Also LR sets (except the polybags) were 50%, so I snagged the last train. Galaxy Squad sets were 50% off as well, and grabbed a few of the lesser crushed Gandalf Arrives for $9. Found a few older sets in the clearance aisle at full price (no Taj Mahal, sadly) and there they stayed.

Mine had some sets with red clearance stickers for a whooping 97c, from $99.97 down to 99.00 or $69.97 down to 69.00 :).

30% off on several sets at my local store, as well. Attack of the Wargs, A-Wing, AT-RT, Creator Construction Hauler, Creator Small Cottage, Coast Guard 4x4, Castle Gold Getaway, and a lot of Duplo. The only thing they had at 50% off was the Galaxy Squad Hive Crawler; I took one and left two.

These are the times that I end up buying sets that I really don't want just because they appear to be a good deal.
  • korkor Member Posts: 392
My wife just called me from WM. They had a lot of sets clearanced but they had been picked over heavy. LR sets were mostly 50% off. Most of the Galaxy Squad were around 40-50% off. There were sale tags for LOTR, SW, City, and some Super Hero sets as well but they were all gone.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
Found all the same stuff at WM that everyone else has posted...LR sets 50% off and all the Galaxy Squad stuff 30-50%. I ended up getting a Galactic Titan for $50. They only had the one. I picked up a couple Droid Escapes for $11 each. I was really excited to find a #6873 Doc Ock Ambush for $21because I hadnt picked one up yet and a Power Armour Lex for $11. On the crazy side I found one #4182 Cannible Escape for $15. Odd part was that they had a shelf tag for it.

  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 831
^One of my local WM had a couple Monster Fighters The Werewolfs for $13. Lots of Jabba Sail Barges, Republic Gunships and Galactic Titans...tempting but since I got some earlier before X-Mas cheaper, it doesn't seem like such a deal now. Only 1 of the 3 WM has the City Cargo Plane #60022 30% off, I may run back and get one. I'm surprised stuff like SH The Batcave and Ninjago #9450 Epic Dragon Battle are still sitting on the shelves at full price.

^I noticed Walmart's fiscal year begins Feb 1. Any idea if they do the clearance thing before or after Feb 1?

Any price changes now that it's Feb?

Notice some at a Wally here, I was actually there to grab some shoes I was told they were marking down and check the lego Isle and found a good amount of things marked from 30-50% off

Main 50% off I saw where the LM Mine for 35 and Tag for the train at 50 (No trains, 4 Mine sets) Also had 40% off the Indian tent set (about 25 of them) and a single Corby City for 30% off. Couple Batman sets at 30% and a quinjet at 30 as well. Only SW set was a Single Skiff at 17. Probably about 15 City sets including most at 40% including the Cargo terminal, One of the fire stations, The Garbage Truck and Tanker Trucks, the "vertabird" cargo helicopter, and I think the Museum break in set. Only LOTR sets was a Hukai army for 30% off (21) and then almsot all the Galazy Quest stuff was 40 or 50% off. Notice some ninjago and chima sets to but didnt mentally note anything.

Three WMs, three different combinations of what was marked down and by how much. Guess I'll be patient and see what happens.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 831
Stopped by a small WM today and picked up a few Lone Ranger sets for 50% off and passed on everything else at 30% off.
I did notice the #75024 HH-87 Starhopper for $30. I'd never seen this set before...I see it's WM exclusive but none of the 3 large WM around me have it and this small WM has it on clearance already.

Hit 2 Walmarts. The first one had the Big galaxy bug for 50% Off, the Cargo Plane for 30% Off and the Cargo Truck for 25% Off. No Hobbit, Star Wars, Superhero, Lone Ranger or LotR sets at all.

Second Walmart had the LotR Pirate Ship, Hobbit Goblin King, Hobbit Tree, Hobbit Bag End, Lone Ranger Mine, Lone Ranger Tent, Batman Cave, Daily Bugle, Star Hopper, Jedi Duel and Star Wars battlepcks. :o)

    All at MSRP. :o(

#75021 for $79 seems like a decent deal huh
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,758
Yknow I am seeing Walmart's around me showing sets that are on clearance or just 'sale' but most were already gone a long time ago (such as train chase for 49 bucks) and it seems like it really is most sets that are older now, and already gone out of stock.
Again great for my wallet ultimately.
I see the Gunship is in stock around me for about 79 but I just cannot bring myself to run out and buy them
  • canuhandle23canuhandle23 Member Posts: 104
was in dallas today. walmart had 8 of the Lone ranger trains so i bought 7 of them. Im getting close to pulling the trigger on the gunship since 79 isnt a bad price for that set. Need o check out the minifigs in thats et

Hit some WMs and targets this weekend and picked up few things. Was disappointed that I didn't find any 50% off trains but I did find 2 #6866 Wolverine Chopper sets for $11 each and at one WM found a #5892 Sonic Boom (2011) for $15.
  • starwarfan77starwarfan77 Member Posts: 341
@graphite , nice find :P .... #6866 seems to be selling like hot cake. if you list @ amazon for 49.99 + 5.49 shipping its going to get sold within few hours :P

Stopped by Target yesterday and found that they were having a "re-clearence". Shelves are still pretty bare from post holiday but found the following at 30% off:

    #75005 (Rancor)
    #79012 (Hobbit Elf Army)
    #79013 (Lake town)
    #79006 (Elrond)

I was glad to find a #70404 Castle set for 30% off. The others in the series I had picked up before Christmas, and I had been wanted the big set. Seems like it's disappearing everywhere but TR

  • canuhandle23canuhandle23 Member Posts: 104
found another 2 lone ranger trains bought one and left the other one since it looked like a gremlin ate it. They also had a galactic train for 50 but even at that price it didnt seem worth it.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I have literally seen dozens of the trains left. I know of three Walmarts that as of yesterday had about 8 each. I also still see lots of Mines but I rarely see the Colby or Cavalry sets.

^ Where are you located? You seem to always have an extraordinary number of stores that are stocked with deals nearby you, much moreso that SE Michigan anyway.

I'm in Louisiana. LEGO just isnt very popular down here.

Ever since Katrina most people lost all of their collections ...comics,toys,dolls...etc...and they are scared of it happening again .

Yep, I'm in South Mississippi and can agree with you. Also the cost is a deterrent to many.
  • canuhandle23canuhandle23 Member Posts: 104
I agree im in LA atleast twice a month and there are tons of legos in stock.

Umm, I think I need to drive down NO often. ;)

No stay away! haha I just finished up clearing out a Target with 50% marked off a ton of stock. Being in the south does have its benefits.

I was just at a Walmart close to work and they still had stacks of Gunships and Jabba Barges for $70 and they had a couple city mines in the clearance section for $69
