    * Double Sighs.. but i suppose a $130 set for a first wave was not bad . I am sure if TLG were to make one now instead of then, after seeing on the whole successful sales for the theme we may well have had our bigger better bolder 2200-2700 bits Helm's Deep .

    I would however disagree that the present one is Kiddie , I think its a very decent representation albeit not complete . Like many i bought two and + 2 Urak Hai sets and hope one day il begin the HD double up treatment project which would be about 3300 pieces if i can use them all .

    ^ If you buy 2x Helms Deep and 2x Urak Hai sets, then you have your 2,700+ part set. :)

    Thus, it makes the point that 2,700 parts is where it should have been. :)

    Interesting list LFT, but you forgot a key point in your analysis the constantly increasing life span of such sets. The gems of 2007-9 were all short lived save the enduring FB and immortal DS. But take 2010-11 many lasted until recently some still going GE, TB, ... and what about 2012 they seem like they are here to stay, making the effective list of 2014 must haves at 13+ (old but available at [email protected]) plus the new must haves PR, Simpsons, movie, Maersk ship, etc. That makes at least 17 high price and desirable sets! Too much for the new AFOLs to keep up.

    I think alot of people perceive the big sets of 07/09 to be "better" than sets of today because of the huge aftermarket price they have now.

    They were in a number of cases "the first" as well, so potentially get greater renown for breaking new ground.

    Actually, you just provided a short list of my favorite Lego sets. I have all of them and have built all except the Maersk train. Some of TLG's best work in my humble opinion.

    Back on track...so this is not the Simpson set as it says that is out Feb.1 so...the Sea cow seems more and more likely

    The calendar is only comfirming there appearance, as i believe that is the original figure sdcc 2011. Along with batman,wonder woman and the flash all set to support emmet

    For Technic it's not the Cargo Plane (it's more like green service truck)! :D

    There are rumors that flagship will be VOLVO L350F licence (Power Functions).
    AND... 42030 box weight: 3.290g.
    * It's look like it will come with Unimog tires.

    That seems like a new micro set of PF to fit in a 3.29 gram model! I hope you meant 3.29Kg, and if so - yes, yes, yes! Another 2000ish piece model!

    Another front loader, motorized, would be interesting.
    I'm really surprised there has not been a really large dump truck in Technic, I know there have been ones that are close, but none like the large strip mining vehicles out there. I mean you could have it go forware and reverse and tilt the dumper and also make it to scale with the front loaders and Motorized Excavators

    Not in the UK it isn't. Comma is a thousands separator and dot is used as a decimal indicator. I've never heard of it being the other way around.

    All my European friends use the comma as the decimal indicator. I'm used to both though - in Canada when you take French you learn EU way, though it's not used outside of the classroom (although I guess if they make us learn it the other way around, Quebec must use it too).

    This did really confuse me in uni (in the UK), as mostly I do it the "North American" way, but for quants and stats I had a Belgian tutor who did it the EU way. My tutorial work was a mess, I assure you!

    In Spanish you even have the added confusion that they sometimes put a decimal in years eg 2.014. That really looks weird to me!

    Handwritten "1" in much of the continent looks like a "7" - working for a French company in the UK can be very confusing at times.

    Well, I was not using this dot as any indicator. It just appeared there in some magical way and provoke the war. Sorry! :D

    * To tell how sorry I am, I can also add that Arctic sets look COOL. Camp is orange, it's modern looking. There are also new polar bears (it could be these brown from forest police). There are also husky breed as dog sledding.

    That is not a decimal, but a thousand indicator. And I can't seem to think where it would be used in years, maybe in very formal papers, decoratively, but not on useful things.

    Being Spanish-American, there is just one thing I haven't been able to deal with.

    I do ok with gallons/inches/pounds/miles/feet and all the other nonsensical measures. However, the one that I can't get used to is putting the month before the day. Always gets me.

    But I guess something had to be Lost in Translation. :-)

    today i got an invitation to go to the lego store in rockefeller center in NYC on February 16. it says guests will have the first opportunity to view and buy a new exclusive set. does anyone know what the new set will be?

    ^ And official news about the "Newcastle" (Gateshead) store official opening. Gifts from Thurs to Sun when you spend £30/50.

    Didn't the threshold used to be £20 to get these gifts, and wasn't it a 3 days of gifts thing previously? I wonder whether you have to spend £50 to get the Lego store kit (assuming that is still a freebie).
