Nothing at Walmart. Nada,
I spotted a toy clearance aisle that they have never had before. It looked like a tornado had hit it. Walked down it and there was no Lego at all. When I was walking back down the isle I spotted a #10224 Town Hall sitting behind the end cap.
The box was in excellent shape and the seals looked good so I decided to take a chance. When I was checking out the cashier mentioned that $139.99 was a great price. She said that she had returned it that morning. :-) Apparently Santa and Grandma were not on the same page. She assured me it was not filled with junk. Made my day. I have heard about such finds but never expected it to happen to me. Time to by some Lotto tickets.

#21102 Minecraft $8.76
#10226 Sopwith Camel $83 ...That one really shocked me.
I need to move. :-)
Katrina still has an effect on people down here. So many people lost everything and we have a hurricane every other year so most people dont really collect stuff anymore because its a pain to move and to insure and to replace. I know I think about it all the time when I look at my comic book and LEGO collection.
For anyone who found extras of clearanced Lord of the Rings, Lone Ranger or Superheroes, please feel free to PM me if interested in selling or trading. Thanks.
We had the flip situation this year compared to the description above... there were NOT initially many people out. I was hitting stores at 10-10:30 and the one lone clearance aisle they had still had basically all the toys! The LOTR ship I found at 9:30 am, which any other year would have been long gone by then. That is absolutely not typical here at all. Basically we had fewer people out this year, but the clearance aisle at 30% was just garbage in terms of anything anybody would actually want, so I think most people just were not going out.
The one item I found that was great was a wooden Thomas the train set, complete with an 8 figure track, train and bridge for less than $20, and normally $60. I went back and picked up and looked at that thing at least 3 times in the course of 30 minutes. Such a good deal, and I had nobody of an age that would use it. I was shocked it stayed on the shelf for that long. Any other year and it would have been completely gone before I got there.
I had absolutely no intention of hitting the clearances this year, but made the last minute decision to. I suspect around here most seasoned clearance shoppers did the same thing after seeing the little that was available.
Edit: at wal-mart, and didnt see any other Lego BR's in there.
