Found the Ninjago Epic Dragon Battle set at Target yesterday in the clearance section for 50% off. They also had a few galaxy squad sets for 30% off, which remained on the shelf.

I haven't seen much in term of clearance. Nothing at one Target in MD, the other one had a couple smaller Galaxy Squad sets at 30% off. They had a clearance endcap full of brickset.com/detail/?Set=30230-1 and brickset.com/detail/?Set=30111-1 but neither were on clearance. I did find a leftover TMNT poly but they would only sell it to me for $3.99 since it had been salvaged in their system, they refused to give me the lowest clearance price.

    Nothing at Walmart. Nada,

Found a Hobbit #79003 at my local Walmart on markdown to $49 -- only kit on the aisle on discount, and even at that it was hard to spot. Good thing my wife has keen eyes for sales. Sticker was ordinary color, no discount markings, just "$49" and in small print "regularly $59.99". Not a huge discount, but enough to motivate to buy it.

Retail on ti was actually 69.99 so it was 30% off, not a bad deal.

I just left Wal-Mart and they had 12 on the shelf at full retail. The only discount I found was #70708 for $67

Picked up #79010 and #9500 for 50% off at one of the Target stores in my area both had dropped in prices since Monday, had picked up #10232 that was probably a return on Monday for $104 opened it last night just to make sure it was not garbage and it is 100% complete. Also picked up Friends 3189 for $15 regular price was $49.99, #9490 and #9491 50% off at a different store.

Nice find, especially the PC. Wish I could have the good timing to find one of those sitting on my Target shelf

Yeah when I took the PC to the register it came up at regular price $149.99 I could see on the register, it said Internet price.. But since it had the sale sticker on it with a price they had to honor the sale price, not sure if every state has that law but NJ does.

I found pirate ambush at $50. It is hard to believe it was not gone already. I also grabbed a small galaxy squad set for $10 instead of $20.

^I have yet to see a Black Gate on any sort of clearance or sale. The only thing left at my 2 Targets were a Hobbit Goblin King for $49.98. I did find 2 Lone Ranger Comanche Camp but they were full price....go figure.

Target was pretty good to me today. I pretty much found all the same stuff that @Wagnerml2 did. Except I found a couple not on his list...
    #9450 Epic Dragon Battle $60
    #9474 Helms Deep $65
    #79003 Unexpected Gathering $35
    #79111 TLR Train $50
    #9500 Sith Fury-class $45
I did find two sets that I did not expect to see at Target. Both were online returns and the boxes were pretty bashed but I also found...
    #21102 Minecraft $8.76
#10226 Sopwith Camel $83 ...That one really shocked me.

You land some of the greatest hauls. I'm starting to think you are the only person who actually buys Lego in your area.

me too. I passed on this set back in December during all the sales, then started wishing I had got one for my collection, but it was gone everywhere. oh well
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Wow. That is crazy. By me there simply were not Lego. I had looked at at least three Targets clearances.in the past week, and beyond 1-2 $10 sets and $20 sets, I only saw one large set. They simply did not have Lego of of clearance. The before Christmas sales did them in.

^ yeah, it seems to all depend on where you are located and how many other LEGO hunters are in the area. I don't even bother trying to hit any target clearances. this go around, the shelves were empty before 30% even hit
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
In my case it was not even other Lego hunters. There simply was not anything to clearance. Beyond Lego, the clearance overall was probably the worst clearance I have seen at Target in the years I have hit Target toy clearances. One aisle of clearance at actually four different Targets, and these aisles were not completely full even.

Its weird down here. I have said it before but there just isnt much of a LEGO market down here. Thats why LEGO isnt that interested in putting a LEGO store down here. The closest one is in Birmingham Alabama....6 hours away. The stuff just sits here in clearance. This was the first time I have ever seen other people buying clearanced LEGO in volume. We have one Walmart down here that still has clearance out from the summer reset. It never dropped below the 30% price so it just sits.

Katrina still has an effect on people down here. So many people lost everything and we have a hurricane every other year so most people dont really collect stuff anymore because its a pain to move and to insure and to replace. I know I think about it all the time when I look at my comic book and LEGO collection.

My Targets were also mostly bare, as always seems to be the case. In this area (NoVA) the past several years, I think I've managed to find the clearances only two or three times total.

For anyone who found extras of clearanced Lord of the Rings, Lone Ranger or Superheroes, please feel free to PM me if interested in selling or trading. Thanks.

Still seeing 48 cent Eagles at Lego Store in Milwaukee. They now say I can only by 5 at a time though. If you have Lego Stores near you you may want to check. To be honest I'm surprised these are still at this price but they make great prizes for me to give to my students :)

Remember that even if the LEGO stays until 50%, at that point it is not just LEGO aficionados, but general toy resellers who come in and clean up at Target in general, so there is a lot of competition, even if something does drop to half off.

Yeah I think there is more and more of these hunters out there that strive to find any toy for 50%

@sonsofsceva - That wansn't you I ran into at the Target on W. Florrisant road yesterday, was it?

I truly must have been in the twilight zone this year.

We had the flip situation this year compared to the description above... there were NOT initially many people out. I was hitting stores at 10-10:30 and the one lone clearance aisle they had still had basically all the toys! The LOTR ship I found at 9:30 am, which any other year would have been long gone by then. That is absolutely not typical here at all. Basically we had fewer people out this year, but the clearance aisle at 30% was just garbage in terms of anything anybody would actually want, so I think most people just were not going out.

The one item I found that was great was a wooden Thomas the train set, complete with an 8 figure track, train and bridge for less than $20, and normally $60. I went back and picked up and looked at that thing at least 3 times in the course of 30 minutes. Such a good deal, and I had nobody of an age that would use it. I was shocked it stayed on the shelf for that long. Any other year and it would have been completely gone before I got there.

I had absolutely no intention of hitting the clearances this year, but made the last minute decision to. I suspect around here most seasoned clearance shoppers did the same thing after seeing the little that was available.

You guys are lucky with all your finds at Targets. The stores up here were completely wiped before Christmas. I've been in more than a dozen different stores, and other than getting the fire helecopter for half off on 12/26 and the polybags, I haven't seen or found a single clearance Lego item!

Just back from target, no sales, I picked up a #31015.. went to the CMF section and many were ripped open. sad sight ... but was able to fell out a Wyldstyle for my daughter

I stopped at a WM today and a employee was putting more Lego on the shelves. She asked if I needed an help and I just explained I was hoping for clearance Lego. She said she was currently marking labels for stuff to be clearanced in 3 weeks. Apparantely this is week 52 of their calendar. This store still had plenty of Lone Ranger, all Galaxy Squad, '13 Ninjago...nothing surprising getting clearanced...just at the amount of stuff they still had on shelves, Jabba Palace and Millenium Falcons still. So another couple of weeks before WM clearances amp up.

^I noticed Walmart's fiscal year begins Feb 1. Any idea if they do the clearance thing before or after Feb 1?
  • ninjagolightlyninjagolightly Member Posts: 140
I scored a Silver Mine at 50% at Target, now I can return the one I got at 30% off. Other than that, slim pickings, even for Hero Factory, which I usually am able to pick up en masse.
  • starwarfan77starwarfan77 Member Posts: 341
actually target in my area just refilled with super heroes set at full price LOL.. go figure.. they had the pirate ambush on clearance and inventory still says they have 2 but i can't seem to find it :P LOL.. someone did hide it and they hid it pretty well...
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 369
I was lucky enough to find 2x #9516 Jabba's Palace at a Target for $47.98 today. Neither had a red tag on them, and they were sitting on the regular Lego aisle.

I did learn something with this clearance. While I was in the clearance isle the Target employees were busy scanning and tagging everything. I grabbed a couple sets that they hadnt scanned yet. I was told that the item wouldnt scan for the reduced price until they physically scan it with the hand held. So if someone tried hiding a set that just happened to be the only one left in the store before the markdown it wouldnt scan at the register for the clearanced price .

Would still work if there were two in the store, but still innovative on Target's part.

Yes....if they do scan an item then everyone in their system is marked down even if it doesnt have a sticker. Explains why every now and then I find a set with no clearance sticker yet it scans at a discount.

My Target has restocked the LEGO aisle with many of the mentioned items above - at FULL retail price. Even some things that were clearanced before the holidays. I even scanned a bunch to double check :(

Just one find during my hunts: #6868 Hulks Helicarrier Breakout at Walmart for $35. Not bad for a retired set that has been long gone from my neck of the woods.

I've seen quite a few Padawan Menace blue ray/dvd combo with minifigure at WM in their $7.88 mosh pit for a few months now. Has anyone else seen WM and Targets get the SH Batcave and Quinjet back on shelves? They were once gone and now multiple stores have them back on shelves.
  • chuckpchuckp Member Posts: 684
^ I was curious about this as well. In the last couple of weeks the Batcave has shown up at all of the Targets, WM's & TRU's in my area. No Quinjets to be found though.

What is the opposite of clearance? Target.com has the following listing up at the moment:

    Sale Price $109.99
    reg: Original Price $94.99
    LEGO® The Lone Ranger Constitution...

    LOL
