Badly needed to get out of the cave for some serious retail therapy after ten days of being stuck at home with a painful neck. First stop was TLS where I picked up #40085 Teddy Bear Heart for Hubby for Valentines and showed them my new Marina Bay Sands, which I am trying to build tonight. Stole a quick view of the Simpsons' new house, which I like, but not into the figures or the show.

Finished a delightful Duplo #10559 A Fairy Tale with book for 5USD clearanced at TJMaxx. (These may be too nice for my future grandchild….hummmm! May have to buy a second set for grandchild use.)

Awaiting ancient but slightly used Duplo families Caucasian, African and Asian (off eBay) as I am in love with all those little fellows. And they require no building because they don't come apart. My huge collection of P_bil 123 figures also makes me smile a lot. I enjoy placing the animals in the houses and the people in the fenced in fields aka a Gary Larsen version of the animals watching the humans instead of vice versa.

^^Like your remodel. I am in the midst of bricklinking a Green Grocer and am looking at doing the CC next. The interior leaves a lot to be desired so I am trying to come up with ideas for that. So far all I have planned is employing Larry to work behind the counter same as you.

I placed another BL order the other day, for parts to modify my Pannier Tanks between the wheels, so that they're less 'boxy' looking. The order arrived today, so the alterations were duly carried out.

Personally I think they look a lot better. Now all I need are black elastic bands to give the wheels some grip... :)

Plotting and planning a Balrog MOC that I've had kicking around in my head for over a year now. Finally think I figured out how to do the wings right, so now it's time for some BL orders to test that theory.

    This should be interesting.

Designing my very first modular MOC family house on LDD. Nearly 1200 bricks and I haven't even finished the ground floor yet! It is 38 studs wide and 56 studs long without garage or garden attachments.

And I want to build it in real life too. There goes my resolution to Bricklink less LDD MOC's I guess!

Just finished a Professor X wheel chair, minifg scale with working wheels, feet rests, arm rests and handles on the back. Took me 30 minutes, but I'm still really happy.

Built the Maersk Triple-E. I did forgo the stickers. I will be moving soon and didn't want to be hassled with trying to keep the stickered bricks together when disassembled. Not a bad build and looks good above the tv at present.

Finished first floor of #71006, it is more detailed that I thought it would be and the amount of accessories is a very nice addition.
Will finish it tomorrow but will spend the rest of the day building the #21019 Eiffel Tower.

A chandelier for an opera house ... It'll hang on chains, be able to be lowered, have two tiers of lights, 36 on top tier and 14 on lower tier. Being '19th century', each yellow cone light will have a small flame ...

I've been working on a castle tower. Not quite complete. Came across some cool building techniques which I modified to suit my needs.

  • rancorbaitrancorbait Member Posts: 1,842
    @iancam33 nice techniques there!

Now put it on a castle! :o)

  • iancam33iancam33 Member Posts: 407
^thanks but very funny. This has sucked up a very good majority of "adaptable" grey pieces. The castle would have to be either very small or lack any type of detail....can we say 80's castle. I will do a smaller scale castle and towers once this is complete and ultimately pulled apart.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@iancam33 Do you have a small daughter? Put a conical roof on it and tell her it's Rapunzel's tower and you can be Dad of the year, no castle required :).

    It really is lovely.

^nope. no kids. I have been debating what type of roof to put on it If I put one on at all.
  • KiwiLegoMeisterKiwiLegoMeister Member Posts: 212
You could build something circular using layered grey bases. Same effect as building a roof out of grey blocks, only 1/3rd height ....

There's a little summer Lego competition here in New Zealand. Build something that represents your fav summer holiday activities.
Little Miss 11yo wants to build a beach scene (tan beach / dunes, plus blue base sea with waves etc).
So today, once she has cleaned up some other stuff, she'll be under way.
Blocks from my collection, of course.....

So after nearly 5 days, and after being prompted by the release of the Simpsons house, I've completed a model of what I think a true minifig scale LEGO house should be like. The roof and first floor lift off in modular fashion and the garage is removable. It's only a render at the moment, but I do hope to build this entire near-4000 brick building out of real world LEGO later this year! :-)
See if you can spot mini renditions of Ewok Village and the UCS Falcon in there (there's also an Orthanc in there but I think it's hidden) ;-)

(in case anyone asks, it's based on a typical large UK semi detached house. One could have two of these and join them together)

Cracked open the Mindstorms EV3 that Mrs Boo bought me for Christmas. Part way through. Have the brick attached to a chassis with two motorised caterpillar tracks.
Should be complete tomorrow with a bit of luck.

Just built #70808, my first LEGO movie set. I haven't seen such great design in a set for a while! I love the little details on Wildstyle, the hoodie, the arm printing, the hair, a great figure! And a great set. :o)

I saw this displayed at one of the Lego store and it looked awesome, it is on my buy list. The Police car blew me away the size is impressive and like you said lots of details.

My son loves Luke Skywalker Lego figures all of them, and since he saw the black suited Jedi Luke in the Ewok Village #10236 he has been hounding me to build it so he can build the Luke...Lucas and I started it today.

Almost finished with the Robbie House. Need a few missing parts which don't seem to be lying on the floor anywhere; will have to dig through bins of spares to find them tomorrow. SO many small parts, but the colors are just gorgeous as with the Imperial Hotel. These Architecture sets are first class for the most part. The books are quite informative and filled with great photos and history.

^ We built the White House recently . Really enjoyed the build , displays beautfully despite its small foot print. This was surely a different experience in a good way from the regular brick sets . I went on to purchase ,Falling water, Farnsworth house , Villa savoy and Burj Khalifa . Will take my time to build those .

Just finished the Ewok Village #10236 as a SW fan I have to say this is a very nice set with a lot of figures over all I am happy, I just wish that the trees were taller would have been nice to put The Battle of Endor #8038 a few trees down.

Just started on the Simpson's House. After building the car, I think I am going to try and buld another one in a different color for Ned.

Make that a car for Marge as the Simpsons are a two car family.

Finished building the 9396 b-model, great looking contraption, but I can't help but think it's not the best design for a rescue 'copter- what with all those fast whirly things pointing every which way!

I've finally opened my #10211 emporium as my first modular to build and am taking half a book a day due to limited time! Just about to start book 3.
I've been wondering how the 'shop' front was done for a while and now I know!

I built Batman #76000 last night; it was a pretty fun build, I thought. Our boy is too young for these Superhero sets now, so I'm doing the fatherly thing and stocking up on them ahead of time. I can't resist building them, though! The problem with this set, though, is it assumes Aquaman is helpless. Aquaman can more than handle himself against Freeze, I think...

Just finished #10212, really impressive when resting on its stand. As far as impressive UCS in size, it ranks at the top with #10221. Don't know why I waited so long to build it...
