Would be nice to see more of the 500 part count kits...
Other good examples are:
6753 - Highway Transport
4954 - Model Town House
5893 - Off-Road Power
Those are the type of sets we like, detailed and interesting. The 150 to 200 part sets are ok, good for the young kids, but my wife and I really love the bigger sets.
Having bought a bunch of LEGO lately I can say that I'm kinda disappointed. I remember that when I was young I had a ton of bricks that could be used to build plenty of things, yet these days sets are fairly limited, unless you buy a lot of them. There's an increase in the types of blocks (as I noticed when I wanted to do a "Pick-a-Brick" order) but plenty of them are rather "specialized".
Sets like these seem to offer better value for money in that regard:
