Anyone know of instructions to build large scale models of minifigs like at legoland. In particular some star wars at roughly 2-3ft. Would live to know the technique.

I would recommend looking at set #3723-1, and maybe #10225 for inspiration, you would have to change a few pieces and colors in order to create the character you want, but it should provide the basic structure and pattern.

I wanted to make some SW customs based on the #3723 a few years ago and came across this on Brickshelf: . I really liked the Boba Fett sculpture.

Here's another useful lot of photos

They are bigger than the ones @chuckp has shown you as they are based on #3723, admiral ackbar is fantastic though.
If you click on my avatar you'll see that it is based on the one @chuckp has shown you. The instructions and parts lists aren't perfect so you'll have to do a little rework but they are a brilliant start. My 6 year old has the stormy and jango fett displayed proudly in his room and has never once try to dismantle them.
Have fun they are great to make and display.

^ Thanks for posting that link. That BARC Trooper is amazing. If I had enough sand green bricks that would be my next build!
