I may have missed the thread...but is anyone aware of any after-Christmas sales from S@H this year? I have a couple sets I would like to pick up and am curious if there will be an opportunity to get them at a lower price.

Traditionally last years winter village set will be discounted. I didn't see it on s@h or my local store though. Might see this year's set at a modest discount as well.

I was wondering about a Boxing Day sale from S@H. Normally, sites like Brickset will have a full list of the discounted sets 2 days before the sale.

Looks like TLG has a few good sets for sale. I grabbed a couple of the Technic sets that are retiring soon.

Yeah LEGO.com notables in the US are:
    #4207 City Garage for $95.98
#9397 Technic Logging truck for $97.98
#4429 Helicopter Rescue set for $47.98
    #7937 train Station for $39.98

Logging truck is the only worth while in the bunch. Grabbed one with all the discount (affiliate, credit card and VIP etc) for about 40% off RRP.

Logging truck went pretty fast it appears.

City Garage was $66 last week from TRU, making $96 a terrible price, just by comparison.

Helicopter Rescue, right now at Walmart.com is the same price.

The Logging truck was the deal, but that didn't last.

The Train Station is the other deal, if they would sell me 100 of them I'd take them, but I've found that they have become way too aggressive at canceling orders, so I no longer even try.

Which strikes me as odd for clearance, but whatever... :)

Was reading the forum on TnB, someone posted a comment that I thought summed it up in one word:

    Craptacular

    :)

I'm very happy I didn't stay up until midnight waiting for the sale to start.

I'm lurking outside of a Lego retail store waiting for it to open at 9:00AM. If the sets are already marked down, the only ones that have stickers that I can see from outside are Wargs, small Chima sets, and Goblin King. We'll see if there's anything else in 10 minutes. Looks like Kids FootLocker is the place to be this morning - big line.

Welcome to the rest of the worlds typical S@H sales. :)
That said it seems that as usual the US still did better than us, no logging truck on sale for instant.

We got 30% of a bunch of items (but most small ones). Mini Modulars and City Garage being the only two that seemed half decent, although still not the best they could be have been had elsewhere.

Mini modulars $64, palpatine arrest $72, Wargs $35, goblin king $70. A bust

Yeah, guess they should have put every modular and other exclusive on sale, for 50%, and then MAYBE by some people's standards it may not be 'craptacular', eh?
Sorry, but I think only the snobs (and resellers who are not getting good enough deals in their opinion) are being negative. I mean, what do people expect exactly from LEGO (other than apparently allowing them to buy large amounts of a set)? I'm pretty sure last years wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire either (other than people crying that sold out sets were also showing as on sale). With the ban on sales on exclusives and LEGO mainly wanting to get rid of stock I think people have to remember LEGO is a business, there is no guarantee of an 'after Christmas' blowout. As people are also seeing right now at Walmarts all over.
People also need to realize not every year that you are going to find mythical 50% deals where some can empty a store or a website.

I'm guessing that in January the Winter Market Village will likely be on sale for about 79.99 USD wherever it is left, so people can also rant about that in two weeks I guess.

How about 10% on exclusives since no one else can? :) I would've hoped for the village set like you said, but I couldn't wait and paid full price already.

Past years taught me to hold off for deals until after Christmas, so I can understand the let down, but LEGO stores have been my last place for high expectations in deals. Walmart is the bigger shocker this year.

So only resellers are moaning about lack of discounts? Good discounts can be had from TLG whilst limiting numbers any individual can pick up, they just chose not to this year, for anything highly desirable. We've already seen that S@H couldn't give a crap about resellers filling their boots when they want shot of a set (B-wing).

Why is everyone surprised? The stores are wiped out. What are they exactly going to clearance anyway? Chima Speedorz? There were so many sales prior to Christmas that you all should be broke. Save your money for the great upcoming sets in January. Quit worrying about making money on Lego and instead buy a set that you can open and enjoy.
  • adol7adol7 Member Posts: 150
C'mon now guys. It's not all about resellers. While I do agree that this year's pre-Christmas sales were amazing, history had taught some to hold off until after Christmas. But Mathew's right and I'm already broke. :p

I have always bought the winter village set the week after Christmas at a discounted rate. I have zero reselling intensions. So yes those sets(s) not being discounted was a let down.

    P.S.
I'm not broke even with buying a few extra great deals before Christmas.

#30185 any one wants more of these? I have in the lego store for 0.98

My broke has little to do with Lego and much more to do with 6 children, 9 grandchildren and one great grandson. None asked for Lego. Still there was a decent amount of Lego under the tree, the best part was that every thing on my list was under the tree.

Honestly, sometimes its just about getting the most bang for your buck so that you can get as much LEGO for your dollar as you can. It's not always about making money for those of us that are disappointed. I was disappointed because I wanted to pick up one of each of the GS sets I don't have at hopefully 50% off and a few more TLR sets just because I like them.

Mall of America Lego store had the mini-modulars further marked down to $55.xx. I bought the only one they had. The lady also said that the store won't be getting anymore.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're retiring it...

I thought the set was tagged as retiring soon on LEGO's US S@H site, but apparently not. Yeah, I think it is gone though

Anyone pick up an extra mini modular set they want to part with?

As I stood in line today with the .48 Eagle Poly, I noticed in the middle of the store shinning like the Griswold family Christmas tree...a lone WV Cottage.

FWIW, with all the stock of WV Market, the employee said it would likely go on sale next month.

Does anyone have extra little eagle polys they'd consider selling ? I need about 12 for bday goody bags. Thanks in advance.:-)

Halloween accessory kit was $5.98 today at the MOA LEGO store. No little eagles to go with it though. :(
