Lego Movie sets at Target.... but not for sale?

Not sure if this has been posted but I was at Target this evening and spotted the Lego Movie sets. Since they remind me of the stuff my son comes up with I just had to buy one. Unfortunately when I went up to the check out the girl wasn't able to scan them because they aren't available for sale until Jan. 1st. I informed her that there were dozens of them on the shelves. Anyway, just a heads up. Someone might get lucky and be able to purchase them. They're quirky sets, but the part selection is great and I think kids will enjoy them.

I picked one up from a Midwestern TRU today. Great parts and very fun, quirky sets

Figures. The check out girl looked pretty new. I probably could have gone to a different lane and had it work. No biggie. My kids are pretty much set with Christmas presents this year.

My local Target had a box of series 12 minifigures out last Friday. After 40 minutes of feeling packages to see if I could get the ones I wanted I took them to the register only to have the cashier tell me they couldn't sell them until January 1st. I happened to be in the same Target three days later and they still had the box out. I can't imagine how many times over those three days (a weekend too) that they had to tell people that they couldn't sell what they had out on a display.

My local Target had 70802,05, and 07. I was able to purchase 02 and 05, but 07 rang as "not available for sale until 1/1". There was also nothing the manager cold do but apologize. They cannot sell what is not in the system.

The two sets I could purchase will be thrill my son as he is aware they do not come out until next year. It will help keep Santa alive in his "on the fence" 9yo mind.

I had that happen with the last Barbie movie that came out. My little 7 year old saw it and freaked out. Brought it to the check out and the manager literally took it from my hand and said "we cant sell this yet" and got on the radio and started yelling at the person over the toy dept. My girl was devistated. Made for a long ride home.

If it's set up in the system to not allow the sale, fine, I get it. I was told this morning at a Toysrus that the sets would not be put on the shelf until the movie came out. I replied, "you mean in mid-February?". Yes, that's what the (likely) seasonal help said.

So I took my 3 movie sets (#70800, #70806, and #70808) and 30 movie minifigures to the register, checked out no problems, and got out of crazy-town.

^^Ah, but I know that feeling!

^Lucky you! Your selection of Movie sets available is much better than mine. I have ventured into crazy-town only once this season and never again. The sales ares not worth the crazy. Not sure about anyone else, but my local TRU has the worst parking, narrow aisles, poor selection of Lego, awful help and the worst consumers.

Don't know if this should get it's own thread, but the Lego Movie sets are available on the Toys r Us website for in-store pickup.

Yeah..I saw them all today in-store at my local Midwestern TRU...and the Lego Movie minifigures for $2.99.

toys r us seems to be the place to go...went on Sunday and got the melting room and a few minifigs..they had most sets but the one I wanted (CLoud Cukoo Palace). Most of the minifigures were picked through. Went back yesterday and they had the set I wanted and a lot of minifigures but most other sets had been picked through. The whole set up was rearranged. Prices were at MSRP though which was nice. I have not seen any at target.

All the sets were at my TRU today as well, totally stoked over MSRP. I got 3 sets for under the tree. Only reason I stopped in TRU today was to check if they had gotten any Zoomer robot dogs returned, for my neighbor. So imagine my delight at finding the movie sets!

They had several sets at the Target near me. I bought a couple of them...no problem. They weren't in the normal Lego aisle though, they were in an aisle where the superhero stuff was (like Iron Man and Batman action figures).

I can't find these at any target...which is a shame because I have a gift card and want to get metal beard... Toys R US sold a lot of these too as there was only a few larger sets there when I went...lots of mini figures (picked up Larry, Taco Tuesday Guy, the mermaid, and Calamity Drone)

These sets are on an end cap near our Target's LEGO aisle finally. I picked up two #70803 from TRU before seeing them at Target. None in our WM yet.

Not exactly Target related, but the movie sets are live on [email protected] if your area Target is holding out until the 1st.

Still only a couple sets at Targets around here but I found Metalbeard at Target in New Berlin, WI and they had the minifigures too

Trying to find the minifigures at Target but the associate told me they weren't going to reset the lego area for 2!!! weeks and she was unwilling to lookup whether they had minifigures. I managed to find a picture of the barcode (I think) of the movie minifigs. Anyone know if I scan that barcode on a scanner if it will show whether they have stock or not? Just seeing if I can bypass going through an unwilling associate.

Why ask, get do it..... and report back. Also, there's more than one associate in the store, so ask others....I'm sure one would be willing to check for you.

I tried just that thing this morning. They said they will reset the Lego isle by Saturday. He tried scanning the barcode listed on brickset, but his scanner said it was not in the system. He said that he could find it in the back if I had a dpci code to give him to go by, which I did not have....Does anyone have that?

Just things to ponder during the day until I have the chance to do it :) I spent 15 min trying to find an associate yesterday. I checked Walmart after Target and the associate said if I had the UPC they could check stock. Of course we had a chuckle over how that's impractical when you aren't sure if something is in stock.

The barcode is tied directly to the DPCI at Target. If you scan the barcode at the scanner (assuming the scanner reads it correctly), it will give you the DPCI and tell you whether or not it's in the backroom or assigned to any aisle location in the store.

If it doesn't show up, that store doesn't have any in-stock yet and/or may not be carrying the item.

Also, it may still scan and not be in-stock. Be sure to check the "backroom" indicator. If it says "yes," that means that they have it assigned to a specific location in the backroom.

My local Wal Mart had a generous stock of the new movie sets in

My store ( i work at) had them out Monday afternoon. I already got the 2 I wanted at the Lego store.

I was at Target today and the had a nice big display up for the movie but only one set. One a better note they were adjusting the clearance prices in the LEGO isle. Lots of stuff on sale but nothing worth grabbing ...yet. I did find a Forest Police Station sitting in the Barbie isle of all places. I tried to scan it but it wouldnt scan. Took a shot and put it in the cart. During check out the cashier couldnt get it to scan either. She called the manager over and she said the set was "salvage" and put it at $1...very nice suprise today.
