Hello all!
I’m Jessy, 29 from London.
I’ve recently gotten back into Lego via my flat mate’s obsession!
I was a big fan in the 80’s/90’s and was delighted to find all my old sets in a suitcase in the loft last time I went home.
I am now looking to start collecting Prince of Persia & Pirate of the Caribbean sets, so if anyone knows where I can pick some up cheap, please get in touch! I love the minifigs too and have a few swapsies!
The pain caused by treading on Lego as a kid has resulted in my fear of anyone/anything touching the soles of my feet!
Pleased to meet you all! :D

PoP can be found on sale, try the Argos ebay outlet. Deals come and go on PoTC as it's still fairly 'current'.

    Welcome to the obsession!

Hi Jessy, welcome to the forum! Nice to have another Brit gal on the forum to balance things out a bit :)

When I read your intro, it was a bit scary how much it sounded like myself talking, I love the POTC stuff too and also minifigs in all shapes and forms. I think you may have sadly just missed out on some deals, as Argos recently had discounts on a lot of POTC sets and had one of the PoP sets on its eBay outlet site too. But fear not, as soon as there are deals available someone will post about them here!

Which childhood sets did you re-discover in the loft? I was so chuffed to find all of my old Paradisa and Pirates stuff intact about 6 months ago, it's all been repatriated to my place now :)

    Hi @andhe, and Hi @LostInTranslation!
I’m gutted I missed the argos outlet sale, I had my eye on the ‘fight for the dagger’ sets but was waiting til payday! That will teach me! Lego is more important than food!
I’ll be on the forum fairly often as we are a little slow at work at the moment, but I really would appreciate a heads up on any PoP offers!

I think the first sets I collected were in the Fabuland range, I found loads of figures in the suitcase (AKA: The Suitcase of Dreams), I had totally forgotten about them!
I also have a few of the original pirate sets and some city stuff: Police Station, Hospital etc.
I really want to rebuild all the sets and replace any missing/damaged pieces, I think a good place to start is the pirates island with the jail, that was always one of my favourites! I don’t have the serial number, but I’ll have a look when I get home. I know I don’t have the rope bridge for it, and this must be a rare piece, any ideas where I can pick one up? :)

    @JessyDooDah

I feel like a junkie tempting you with crack...

At a guess I'd say you mean this set? http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6270-1
in which case you'd be after this piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2549
Let me warn you now about Bricklink... it starts off with you just buying a few pieces to collect a set, then once you're hooked onto buying plastic bricks in little bags you find more and more of you're money disappears into it and you're addicted to collecting!

ToysRus have a bit of a sale on PoP, not quite half price, but looks like they're just selling the end of their stock.

It is getting eerie now... I have that set, and some Fabuland :) I'm missing one of the bits of rigging for it which I keep meaning to get off Bricklink.

Unfortunately, I do have quite a lot of work to be doing but am easily distracted by Lego... did you hear that @DrDaveWatford? Apparently, I say this quite a lot on the forum :P

    Yeeeeeessssss!
    That's the one! Thanks @andhe !
I'll have to trawl through the suitcase of dreams and work out what else I am missing. Then I'll have to get my head around bricklink! :s

I just had a look at the PoP on TRU, but I don’t live close enough to one to make it worth the journey.
I might go the ebay/amazon route on payday.

@LostInTranslation, I had some of the Paridisa sets too! and a few from the Medieval range if my memory serves!

    Hi Jessy,
just a heads up that Argos are running a 3 for 2 on all toys until Monday. The only POTC sets they have are The Mill and London Escape and for PoP they have Sands of Time and Battle of Alamut.

The downer is that these are online exclusives that have to be ordered in to collect in-store, but I'm sure there must be an Argos somewhere in London near you that you could get them delivered to by Monday (when the promotion ends). You'd have to order today and check delivery dates for different stores.

If you go down this road, a word of warning re order into store though: in the last Argos promo I ordered in a Star Wars advent calendar and I turned up at 3pm on the day stated, and they hadn't unloaded all the stock yet, so it literally came off the back of a lorry :) So don't go too early, maybe worth ringing the store to check delivery times. Plus their protective packaging sucks, but which doesn't bother me, as I don't keep boxes, but I know really frustrates a lot of people.

Despite it not being payday yet (for me anyway!) 3 for 2 works out at 33% off if you get identically priced items. Maybe you and your flatmate can team up for the offer and both get something you want?

That ended up a lot longer than I intended :)

Thanks @LostInTranslation ! Those are the 2 sets I am after!
I was so tempted I put a couple of things on hold for store pick up, but then couldn't go through with it after I checked my bank balance! :s

Totally appreciate the heads up, sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you!

Have you been paid now? Fight for the dagger is back on Argos ebay outlet, £14.99 + £1.99 postage :)

Hi Jessy! Just realised I'm missed welcoming another girl to the sight. *waves*

I just built fight for the dagger on friday. Nice little set, worth the argos price :)

Hi @Savage_Steel! Great to meet you!
Thanks for the info on the PoP 'Fight for the Dagger' set ladies! I have just been paid, but I do already have this set. At this price would it be worth grabbing a few extra for future trades and maybe reselling on the secondary market? This isn't something I would normally consider, but if I can reinvest in bigger sets then this might make collecting lego a bit more interesting!
Do you think the price of PoP lego will increase when they completely sell out?
Was it ever really that popular in the first price, or is it just me?
Also, on a completely different topic: Do we get Black Friday deals in UK stores, and is it online? I love a bargain, but I will be in Brussels that weekend!
    :)
