^ I can just picture it......
*Lego Meeting Room November 12, Ready To Use the Same Guns In The Sets To Ship Out. An executive runs in.* "Guys.......we need to change up the blasters! Rancorbait wants it........" *Another executive steps in* "But we are about to ship!" * A Third Executive Walks in.* "Dammit Man rancorbait wants it....Lets give it to him......" *Last minute changes produces......this.*

Chewie badly needed to be updated, but the eyes are totally wrong. Chewie has blue eyes. There's no reason the mini figure shouldn't have blue eyes are well.

As for the blasters, I'll wait and see. But I don't think I'm going to like them.

The DS trooper battlepack is one of the coolest ever released.

Yes, I can take Royal Guards off my wants list until that pack comes out now.

I still don't get why they included royal guards instead of Stormtroopers, they're not army builders.

Another disapointing wave of redo's with little improvement on recent releases and again a strong focus on minifigs. Just the death star trooper pack for me in 2014. Good job we have promising ucs sets in slave 1 and the at-at (both rumoured) to make up for this lot, but at least what I do not spend on this wave of SW will get diverted to those, damn you TLG you always get my money somehow!

"Death Star Troopers" should have been "Imperial Special Forces". I've said it before, but seeing the final box art makes it all the more annoying. Not only are neither of these "troopers", neither were ever seen in significant numbers. One black-uniformed officer, one actual Death Star trooper, and two Stormtroopers (i.e. those involved in the detention block skirmish) would have been a sensible "Death Star Troopers" battle back that likely would have sold multiples. As it is, I see no reason to buy more than one of these and I'll probably sell the second gunner.

That said, I'm happy to see a gunner minifigure, even if it is a relatively minor character.
  • bellybutton290bellybutton290 Member Posts: 453
^agreed, More than happy to have gunner and royal guard minifigs in a cheap pack but naming of the pack wrong regardless and have to agree with you that only one purchase nessasary for most people I would think. Stormies on the other hand would be more appropriate given the set name and likely would have sold more due to being true army builders.

Though they're technically more accurate, I think the new force pikes look almost as stupid as those blasters.

^ It would have helped already if they just would have made the whole thing black.

Who else thinks Lego should have put an updated Boga beast into #75040 ? The scene feels rather incomplete without it imo. The box art makes it look like Obi-Wan was running and jumping after Grievous and the Wheel Bike!

When i look at those box arts i really feel like i'm (getting)to old for Lego! Thanks for that TLG,now bring on some UCS-goodness to heal that wound ASAP :)

We don't know what other sets stormies will be in. Presumably they don't want to have a stormtrooper battle pack since 1) they've just done one and 2) it could possibly impact on sales of other sets including the stormtrooper. I reckon most Lego buyers only buy one of each battle pack anyway. Army builder or not won't affect that for Joe Bloggs.
  • Jonn420Jonn420 Member Posts: 267
I dont mind the rehashes, most of them are army builder vehicles or figures, im just glad the phase of stupid ass clone faces are over.....ONLY good thing came out of that series ending is the stupid anime faces are gone.
Ps. Im beyond livid i waited 6 seasons to see Asoka catch a blaster to the face and NADA.

I like that the Imperial Guards have dark red arms, though I'd have preferred if they had dark red torsos and legs and then had two red cloaks to cover front and back. Ah well, it's a nice update. The Imperial Gunners are frickin' awesome. I'm so happy we're finally getting them.

Like the Chewie update. I'll have to get the gunship for him and a decent parts pack.

Ok, I got to say I am pretty neutral with these sets except for the Utapau Trooper set. I have been begging Lego for ages for for a Octuptarra Combat Droid but as in a 800 piece stand alone set, not that 30 pieces of crap. Did I mention I hate those new blasters with a burning passion.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
The box art for the V-Wing looks like Vader is trying to catch a ball he just dropped. And while I usually try to be positive, I don't think I will ever come around to liking these goofy new blasters.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
I have about 100 spare normal blasters I was thinking of selling. Looks like I'll keep them for now if we're going to be getting those in all sets.
  • TheOneVeyronianTheOneVeyronian Member Posts: 1,372
In my opinion, the big spring loaded blasters on (most of) the ships are a step in the right direction - I for one hated flick fire missiles from both an aesthetic and a functional point of view. They were ugly and useless (and they hurt my fingers!). Of course I'll have to wait and see what the spring loaded ones look like though! :-)

Then I take a look at the new trooper blasters. Opposite opinion for me. They ditched the aesthetically pleasing standard blaster and replaced it with a 'toy' toy gun. Well, I prefer asethetics over function with my Lego sets! While I will pick one or two of the blasters up (if they're new pieces), they're not going to be used on my SW troops that's for sure!

I'm glad there's not much OT stuff. I can save some money.

Think I'm going to start buying old blasters on BL if these are the ones that we're going to be treated with from now on.
  • lee_fett1980lee_fett1980 Member Posts: 1
Well the Death Star Troopers set I think looks brilliant. Other than that this looks an incredibly weak line up for the year. I'll get the other small battle sets as well I expect but I'm not really interested in any of the others. The lack of OT sets is really disappointing. Although as others have said it will mean I can focus on buying some of the older sets that I missed. And saving up for the Ewok Village.
  • krklintkrklint Member Posts: 502
A lot of people are saying that this lineup is weak, and based on the current movies and cartoons, I agree. Now, I really wonder, though, if we'll see a need for Imperial Guards and other mini-figs once the "Rebels" cartoon is in full swing? I can only hope that the upcoming offerings are designed to become big sellers once "Rebels" hits the airwaves.

Also, I'm very glad that the OT is not heavily represented. I'm still needing Rancor Pit and now the Ewok Village. Though many might not agree, I can fully see TLG making some intelligent marketing decisions. Now, lets just see how soon until Rebels hits the airwaves... and how many of these sets will be on clearance before then ;)

Yep. My thoughts upon seeing the images were:

    Ugly toy blasters, bleargh.

'Robots take a leak'. (i'll let you figure out the set).

    'Obi-wan misses the bus'

    'Now in Yellow'

    and lastly,

    'attack the robot phallus?'... :o/

Seriously, i just don't recall that one in the film. Thank God Vader's hand is across to the right is all i can say! :oD

Disappointing. Obviously creative energies were spent elsewhere.

Hopefully Obi-Wan has put in some serious track time so he can keep up with the wheel bike without his Boga.
  • oceanangeloceanangel Member Posts: 149
Im loving the new sets :) my purse is gonna be soo angry with me lol.

I'm planning to repaint the Chewie repeats I get as random Wookies, I think the only sets i'm gonna pass on are the Anakin one and the V-wing and thats due to me hating Anakin and not having room for the V-wing as its not an important set to me, I can probs buy the pilot separate

Thank You Lego for saving me some money, not impressed except for the death star trooper set.

Doesnt he jump onto the bike at some point in the fight?

  • rancorbaitrancorbait Member Posts: 1,842
^ Yes, he does, As he is chasing Grievous on Boga he catches up to him and jumps onto the wheel bike to fight the general.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,170
Just Deathstar trooper pack for me. Daft selection - most will only want one or two of these. Those weapons look poor too. One royal guard, one gunner and two prison block guards or storm troopers would have given an excuse to buy four or six.
  • pvp3020pvp3020 Member Posts: 205
I think these sets are pretty good on the whole (apart from the new blasters). I don't mind the re-hashes so much since they're movie versions of previous CW sets, and I missed out on the first droid gunship. That said, the AV-7 cannon is quite weak - it should be far bigger and bulkier, and I'm disappointed there's no Boga.

Also surely this is just the first wave? We'll get the (hopefully) bigger and better sets in the summer.

Hey look, who would have guessed, yet ANOTHER Anakin Jedi Interceptor.
  • jtrjtr Member Posts: 37
There not bad sets, just ho-hum -maybe we're being a little spoilt.

It looks like the creative focus has been spent on the minifigures - a trend that has been consistent with the SW theme for a couple of years now.

Don't forget the yellow. I hear it's this season's colour, and will look fabulous with the drapes.

I quite like the police gunship, at last something fresh. Reminds me of space police due to the red cockpit.

Can't wait until little 5-year-old Jimmy's next birthday party, when he opens up about 10 of those microfighters. Those are tailor-made for quick grab bday gifts.
  • Steve_J_OMSteve_J_OM Member Posts: 999
What are the price-points on the microfighters?

Might pick up the Falcon to put alongside some of the mini vehicles I've gotten from polybags over the years.

Looking at them, I reckon they will fit the price point for the planets, so £10 or equivalent. There is slightly more to them than the builds for the planets, but minus the planet.

I also like the way they managed to fit two flick missiles in the MF (and most of the others), even at this scale.

I notice no Series number, like the planets. I hope they do more, including Vader's Tie Fighter. An AT-AT- and AT-ST would be fun too.

I'd gladly welcome it, but I'd be surprised to see Vader in such a cheap set.

If they make more, I'd be happy with any one of:
    Sandcrawler with Jawa
    Bantha with Tusken Raider
    AT-AT with General Veers
    Death Star with Tarkin

Yes, I know it would be surprising for Vader. Jawas and Tuskens would sell well in numbers. A microscale rideable sandcrawler would be fun.
