Just saw some prelim pics of the new superheroes sets. Look like we'll be getting a Powerman and hopefully a Damian Wayne Robin.

Nightwing will be in the Manbat set with some sort of Jetpack. Joker's Steamroller looks pretty good but Batman's plane looks like a crop duster. All the Spider-Man sets are based on the television series so that's kind of disappointing.

There's not one bloody set that's not a vehicle... That dozer looks pretty good though. I'm glad the juniors ones no longer have those horrid minifigs.

Power man, green goblin and mary jane result! Im even gonna pick up the junior line, thats a surpise :)

Yep, they are all vehicles :-/. Batman's helicopter in #76011 looks very similar to #7786, maybe that is just the preliminary appearance.

I'm still keen for the minifigs though, and nice to see some in entry level priced sets.

Where's the green goblin? The hulk like one from 76016?

It's based off the Ultimate version of Green Goblin

Interesting to see the trans-yellow/trans-neon space canopy on the batmobile. I bet this will spark a new wave of classic space remakes. Personally I'm thinking of#928 already. :)

What seems to be trans-clear canopies on that hoverthingy doesn't look bad, either.

Preliminary pics always look lame. I think there's a nice array of new figures that could turn out to be winners. And nice to see the 'Juniors' line is simplified builds with standard figs rather than 'juniorised' figs as well.

I am very disappointed to see that the rumoured second villain in #76013 is not present. There is the goon of course, but I was led to believe that there was a second major villain included. I suppose we will just have to make do with Man-Bat and hope that we get some more villains in a future wave (assuming that there is more to come). I have to admit I am surprised that there are so few villains being released at the moment, for Batman at least it is the villains who are perhaps the most interesting characters! However, if not having loads of villains released at once means that the theme will be prolonged, I am all for it.

The bank truck looks rather nice in #76015 though! That might come to be very useful indeed.

^ Yeah, I was really, really hoping for Killer Crock!
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,534
^pop the Croc-top off of Crawley from Chima and you have a decent Killer Croc stand-in. Could be they are waiting to do a real version until Chima has passed on. On that note, does anyone know how long the current DC and Marvel deals are for?

@tncatsfan - the images people are referring to are almost certainly marked as confidential, and it is against Brickset policy to post those images publicly, or a direct link to them. So you will either have to track them down yourself or hope someone who knows where they are PMs you a link.

The images are preliminary and watermarked, which means they can't be linked to or posted here. I won't tell you where to find them because that's really no different than linking, but if you're at all familiar with the major LEGO fan communities, you should be able to find them.

More regular sized pieces in Juniors sets than expected. Might actually buy a few depending on the contents.
Killer Croc is needed (may be harder to squeeze in a set for him being were getting Scuba Batman) but Batgirl, Nightwing, new Joker, the Flash, new Riddler and Man-Bat are huge characters and all 4 sets will have at least 1 exclusive figure so Im set!

Just when I thought it was impossible for LEGO to fail Marvel in 2014, they did just that. Epically too. Why does Spider-man have a helicopter and trike? And why did they choose the next big fig to be Ultimate Goblin, out of all the other choices? Ultimate Goblin, seriously? I have zero problems with LEGO making playable vehicles for children. But at least make vehicles that make sense within the comic book world, Fantasticar, X-Jet, Helicarrier etc. The canvas they have to work with is also pretty generic, it looks like they are slapping continuities together and labeling it USM or AA. At this point I really think the set conceptualizers have no idea what they are doing. Case in point, they decided to make a set on Beware the Batman, guess what it just got cancelled (no surprise).
  • GeddesGeddes Member Posts: 574
^ both vehicles appear in the video game i believe, and ultimate green goblin was always coming! The way i look at it they got it out of the way early.

Question! After doing a bit of digging I managed to find a very blurry The Penguin Face off but doesn't appear to have a watermark on it. Is that fine to post or no?

It has already been posted on page 2!

The only set that I'm getting for sure is the one with Electro, superfluous trike or not. I always loved him.

I refuse to acknowledge that Ultimate Green Goblin is a thing, especially from the cartoon. My childhood can't handle it.
A generic looking troll in Space Marine armor and a black leotard. Wonderful.

I find the sets completely underwhelming. It's as if TLG recognises that minifigs are the big draw of the Superheroes line and is just making a token effort to build a set around them to get them out there. I think I'll be going to Bricklink for these ones.

  • vitreolumvitreolum Member Posts: 1,406
That's exactly what they are doing, throwing in some vehicles to attract children, from there on it's all about minifigs. That seems just lazy to me.
  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 Administrator Posts: 2,364
^ But even the Minifigures leave something to be desired for me. Sure, Flash, Nightwing and Batgirl are great, and Manbat is welcome, but I think more than four new (main) characters should be included really. There is such a vast pool of villains to choose from, why not include another couple of those?

There is so much potential in these Super Heroes sets, but it is rarely exploited it seems to me.
  • vitreolumvitreolum Member Posts: 1,406
My guess is the series is now much more profitable than Batman I/Spidey were, so they are going to milk it for a few years. That's why they introduce a limited number of villains in each wave. I seriously hope they stop releasing a few penguins, jokers and riddlers in each wave though, it's becoming annoying.
  • mressinmressin Member Posts: 843
^ Hmm, probably Penguin, Joker, and Riddler are the X-Wings and Tie Fighters of Super Heroes.

Completely agree with the rehashing over and over of the same core characters. It's understandable to feature the more well known characters to get momentum or traction with a newer series but I think we can safely say that we've reached the point to start expanding a bit.

I don't even consider it a big risk given the popularity of comic book related...well anything these days. With so many mediums expanding their character base in games, movies and other media, it shouldn't be much of a stretch to think the same will hold true with Lego. Bring on the variety already!

I haven't seen the newest images, so I can't comment directly.

My 2 cents.... I know it's not what LEGO has in mind, but it's what I wish they would do.

I like the idea of the Superhero sets, but for the most part I haven't bought many because all I'm interested in is the minifigs. I know it won't happen, but I wish they would put out more sets like 30166, 30167, 30168, 76008 etc, etc...for ALL the characters. In other words, put each character into a $8 to $15 poly or box. Give consumers the option to buy EXACTLY the characters they want. It's the same problem with all the licensed lines - the characters are spread out over too many sets. Because of this practice, I've actually bought fewer sets.

If they were all in cheap sets, there is little reason to buy the big sets. It's better for Lego to have a few exclusive ones in expensive sets.

You already have a choice to buy them all, it is just expensive.

I realize that, that's why I said it's just my opinion & I know LEGO would never actually do it.... just wishful thinking on my behalf.

The best sets to come out of the theme in my opinion have been the £19.99 ones. If we were to get a couple more of those in each wave (as well as the other price point models), we would get many more villains and those sets would prove popular, I have little doubt.

I wonder why there is no Summer release for Super Heroes?

^I think someone posted Cap 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy movie tie-in sets are scheduled for next summer a while back but I can't remember if it was solid or just wishful thinking.

The thing about that was the secondary villians that they used was going in the wrong direction. I'm too apposed to having st after set with Batman or the Joker in it despite variation. (And I don't think the set was based on BTB however the fig design was- not that I've cared to see more than one episode) However kids and casual Super Hero fans alike know these huge names as apposed to people like Magpie or Anarky (not kid appropriate character anyway)

However repetitive it may seem- I don't fully blame them for doing it!

I am happy again, Marvel sets have redeemed matters after the DC disappointment: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=84728&st=2100#entry1728044 Red Skull and Modok? Sounds good to me!
  • legodudelegodude Member Posts: 137
Yes, there is a rumor that 1 X-men set and 1 Guardians of the Galaxy set will be released in the summer. If true, these will definitely be the redeeming factors for Marvel in 2014. I hope they are both comic based, with Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Drax, and Groot (big fig). I also wonder in 2015 if will we get a few Antman sets? I again hope for a comic design with Hank Pym. Not to mention Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ultron as a minfig should be great, needs to be chrome though.

I think we are getting avengers assemble cartoon sets. As the main baddies are modok and red skull. It's a cartoon series biased after the film. Sounds about right with the figures in the sets

I guess we have a reasonable idea what Falcon will look like in Lego form from the Lego Avengers Assemble comic cover?

I'm not familiar with most of the characters mentioned but I am pleased we will be getting a Red Skull :-)

Yeah from the sounds of it, the guy said it was a sand red colour, so I'd assume it's close to the one on that cover. Which I'm so excited for, as it looks phenomenal.
