This subject has been discussed before and yes it is one of profs favorite topics.

I never thought MISB meant shipping box. Sealed box of course. How would you know if what you ordered was actually IN the box and if it was in good condition or not?

Most of us here keep all our sets sealed and never opened in the shipping boxes they come in, never to see the light of day. They don't call it Mint In Shipping Box for nothing...

    TPFIC, eh?

But did you open your mouth to check the firmness of the planting?

I just take my MISB Lego (in sealed shipping box of course) boxes with me in my carry-on luggage at the airport and I kindly ask for a copy of the scan.

Now I just have to find a carry-on to fit my sealed Orthanc.

^^ I did that a couple of weeks back. I had 24 polys in my hand luggage. They looked quite interesting in the scanner.

On a return from the US my case was inspected behind the scenes. I only knew because they placed paperwork inside to tell me. I think the Imperial Shuttle combined with bags of hard to find M & M's and big tubs of sealed pain meds caught their attention ;-)

So I think its a totally ridiculous idea only to find two users who have had the actual scanning/searching done (I must admit that I'd like to see the scan but the wife would not be amused once she found out I was taking unopened Lego with me on vacation). I figure @tad_bouncy is going to have quite the perfect collection if s/he decides to pursue this route in collecting MISB in the original shipping containers. The pictures of the collection might be a bit bland but I guess that's where imagination (or sticky notes since you wouldn't want to write on the shipping box) comes into play.

Some times i forget the amount of stuff that is imported via airports from the US :-)
I know my boss came in from France and before leaving back for France, went to a Sears store to buy Levis jeans for people back home.
