It's been an interesting clearance sale at Kmart this year. I don't know about most Kmarts, but this is the first time I've seen polybags and Advent Calendars. I happened to check the Kmart when they were just putting them on the shelves and then 5 weeks later put them on clearance. I ended up getting Friends polys for $1.75ea and City and Friends Advent Calendars for $13.50ea

^I'm jealous. I haven't seen Advent Calendars at that price for 8 or 9 years, and that was only after Christmas clearance. Now the few my local stores get fly off the shelves long before they get marked down.

I have four K-marts with in a 20min radius....I have yet to see an advent calender at any of them. Count yourself lucky.

@margot There was a 10% back in rewards for Superheroes, Star Wars and Duplo. ADV stands for Advertised I think. It was in their circular last week.

@legomason, thanks, that makes sense. But I think maybe the Uruk Hai and Weathertops said advertised too on the scanner? I can't remember.

Sale changed to 30% off. Good times are over. :-)

of course now they might actually mark the base price down on whatever is left. Next time they do 50% off might be better pricing if you can still find anything.

Went out yesterday armed with the list culled from this thread, but not one item from a regular Lego aisle scanned at discount. In the meager (worsened to 30%) clearance section, there were only two Speedorz at $9.75. Another wasted trip. :(

Should it happen again at some point, at least I'll be better prepared mentally. (But I don't get their circulars, so I'm still likely to be late to the party. My town's not in the advertising radius of any of the K-Marts in these parts: it's a bit of a hike to get to any of them.)

The one I hit yesterday had them for City, Star Wars and Friends... all at full price.

Well, I may not have derived any collector benefit from this sale, but I did have a little fun with Excel. I set up a spreadsheet, using one line item per identifiable set & price point pair reported above in this thread. With inventory data supplied by Basebrick, I was able to calculate an aggregate average piece cost, which turns out to be 5.34¢/ea, very much recalibrating the Fair Price per Part discussion.

Anyone been to Kmart lately? Just saw that it's 50% off again... "This week from October 20-26, Kmart stores in America will be offering an additional 50% off on clearance toys including LEGO."

The catch is you have to find one in you area. I know around me there are no more Kmarts.

^I just can't win today.... from now on I'm keeping all sales info to myself. :-)
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
I think they were a little more than $20...$22 or $24. I passed on 6-8 #4209 Fire Planes today for $27 also. Other than that...it's still the same old leftovers.

I stopped by one this morning and thought I had hit the jackpot when I saw the 50% off clearance signs and around 50 Superman Black Zero sets, but they rang up full price. Bummer.
  • adol7adol7 Member Posts: 150
That is a bummer. Mine doesn't have any Superman sets and the Fire Plane is full price. Oh well...
  • emilewskiemilewski Member Posts: 482
Mine is well stocked with lots of sets but nothing marked and what I did scan was RRP. I had given up and was leaving when I spied a Hobbit game that was clearance that rang up for $15. So I was content.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
My local Kmart was the same. A couple Hobbit games for $15 and a case of Friends Desk polybags for $1.75ea. They didn't have those a few weeks ago. They must have found them in back or just got them and ripped open the cardboard box and threw it on the shelf.

My Kmart has #30250 Ewar's Acro Fighter. (3.99)

I found a copy of Heroica Ilrion for $7.50. I had never even seen it at a Kmart before, on sale or otherwise.

If you are in MN we go to the same KMart. I did find a stagecoach there today that was marked clearance but not ringing up, they honored the cleaner plus 50% on it.

    Nope...but close...Iowa...but I don't hit any KMarts in MN. It's not me! I swear!

I hit my normal haunts today. Found nothing but a lonely #4437 for $8.50. What I did find though were racks of #30250 Ewar's Arco Fighter and #30242 Republic Frigate's Both were $4, so I picked up a few. Interesting that apparently some S@H promo giveaways seem to not have sold out regardless of how many they gave away.

    Again. According to weekly ad.
Please post any new or quality finds!
  • adol7adol7 Member Posts: 150
I'm assuming there's silence because there's nothing good to be found. :p
I checked my local Kmart yesterday and they have the clearance going on, but no yellow-stickered LEGO. Frustratingly, there's some white-stickered Weathertops that are still there from the last 50% off and they ring up full price. I don't know why they have a few with white stickers, but they should learn not to tease us putting them in a clearance section.
  • chuckpchuckp Member Posts: 684
^ Me too. I checked several Kmarts in the last couple of weeks and they seem to be picked clean of Lego, including games. One still has tons of Weathertops & Uruk-hai sets but they are ringing up full price too. I think Kmart is back to being irrelevant again.

So only stores that are having a sale currently are relevant? That is an odd way of viewing relevancy in sales.
