I won some Atlantis mini-figs, (6 mini-figs for £10.62), off a seller that lives about 15mile's from my house so I asked if I could "cash on collect, local pick-up" they said yes.
While talking to the very nice lady, named Sarah, she told me that her 2 sons were Lego mad but had lost interest so were selling there collection and would I like to have a look, naturally I said yes and she took me to a spare room where there were boxes & boxes of mixed Lego & mini-figs & it was all for sale. So I asked the Question "How much do you want for it ?", Sarah said she didn't know and to make an offer, we finally agreed on £250.00, (after her phoning her husband & him agreeing to my price). We shook hands & the 2 boys started reeling off the Lego that was there, "Harry Potter, Atlantis, Castle, Agents, Toy Story, Batman....(I did spy a Joker mini-fig), Indiana Jones, lots of those mini-figs in the little packets...CMF's).
I will post some pictures later.
So far the only bad thing is that due to a house move she had thrown away all the instruction books ;-(...........
I did thank her for filling the back of my car with Lego and for keeping me busy for the next 6-8 months.....let the sorting begin, (again !).
    Piccies to follow

Here are the pictures as promised

I have just finished "sorting " this lot into colours & mini-figs, (taking out the non-Lego & broken/chewed Lego bricks & crap), the final weight of "good" Lego is 48.25 KG including 1.8 kg of mini-figs & accessories.
I have just started to pull #7783-1, lets see if it's all there ??????

In Lego Heaven tonight! Just picked up three of the old wood Lego boxes filled to the brim with vintage bricks in great condition. The seller said they were sent to her son, who is now age 50, by relatives in Germany. Because of brochures included which describe the box size we know we have two of set 820 (BL has the incorrect size listed according to the brochure). The other box is 42cm X 42cm X 7.5cm. All have the Red Lego Logo on the top. She also said there is more bricks in the boxes than they were sold with. We also got a bunch of the old blue railroad track.

Error in first post! Set 820 is 42 X 42 X 7.5. The largest one is 46 cm X 37 cm X 7.5 cm. Anyone know what set came in that size wooden box? It's the one with the large green piece, and it has a pocket in the lid to hold instructions.

We got the three very full boxes, three lt gray 50x50 bases, two green 24x32 bases (one has three driveways), lots of the old blue train track, some duplo pieces, six flat trees/bushes (one has the painted trunk), three battery boxes and more for $500.

I was digging at a Wal-mart today that is out in the boonies. On the bottom shelf hidden behind a bunch of clearance items I found a Helms Deep...when I scanned it it came up $55. Strange thing was that it was the only LEGO set in the whole clearance section. They must have missed it.

Days 3 and 4 of my reclaimation project from the 35 dollar bin! #6077 is only missing the target, and the build went surprisingly fast. Also I've attached the Black Monarch's Castle as promised. I still have so much more to build, this has really been a great jaunt into the past.

Today at the tru trade in event i brought all the battle droids i have and traded the following. At first i traded one a wing pilot and 2 troopers, then left tru to have brunch so other ppl can have their go at it. I went back 5 minutes before the end of the event and traded the rest for whatever they had left. This was good for me because someone traded in a sand trooper and i love those guys!

I think this is a brag but perhaps others might question the value of this, but last night I purchased 36 sets with instructions from a range of themes (Star Wars, Mars Mission, Exo Force, Power Miners, some Bionicle playsets, etc.). The total piece count is around 8,000 and the price was $250.

Okay, not much of a brag but I picked up a brand new sealed #2145 for £4.70 on eBay. Even used ones normally go for quite a bit more than that (and I got the cheapest one ever sold on fleabay in the last 3 months I believe), so I thought it counted as a brag :-)

Been sorting the lot whenever I can, and so far I have built:
7676 Republic Gunship (some parts missing),
    7656 General Grievous' SF,
    7658 Y-Wing,
    7654 Droids Battle Pack,
    8017 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter,
7661 Jedi SF with Hyperdrive Booster Ring,
    7752 Count Dooku's Solar Sailor
    7626 Jungle Cutter,
    7893 Passenger Plane,
    7990 Cement Mixer,
    and 7905 Building Crane.

And there's more left to make! :)

Picked up most of the parts to make the new young Boba Fett in the BAM section of my local lego store. Not sure how they ended up there, might have been a damaged advent calendar.

Nice lady at W.H.Smiths gave me these.

Haha, took me a moment to realise what was so special about those!
  • Bluefox1966Bluefox1966 UKMember Posts: 360
@paul_merton it was pretty funny actually. She said "your the man man who collects Lego aren't you" (This is a day after I bought a full box of season 11 with the 20% discount). Obviously I said "yes" to which she replied "I have some special packets if you are interested". She then went to the store room and brought theses out and said I could have them no charge.
  • paul_mertonpaul_merton UKMember Posts: 2,947
Pretty cool. I certainly wouldn't say no to something like that, but I don't think I've seen any in my local store.
  • Bluefox1966Bluefox1966 UKMember Posts: 360
She did say they were too bulky and they didn't have anywhere to hang them, I think some stores just throw them away.

They're giant display packets that stores hang in the window. I've seen them mostly in WHSmiths. A friend on Flickr just got given one, and judging by the reaction and peoples comments I wondered if they were an exclusively British thing?

I've never seen them in the US. They look quite awesome in a "but I don't have anywhere to display something like that" kinda vein.

They are giant paper mache pinatas WH Smith hang from the ceiling above their tills. The idea is someone should approach with a stick and repeatedly whack as hard as they can until 1,000 random cmfs from that particularly series fall out. The Series 10 pinatas are said to contain a Mr Gold.

If you see one I suggest you give it a try before anybody else does. Bluefox1966, good find and good luck.

I found 70010 CHI Temple for 69 € including shipping on amazon.es and bought three. Very nice part selection. Hope to get rid of the minifigures for around 50€ of the total - then I am happy.

Anyway, amazon.es seems to have put an export embargo just on this set (???), similar to what amazon.it did on everything "LEGO" about a year back. The price has already gone up 10€ now.

You just have to love Tesco sometimes. About a month back I spotted a #6862-2 Superman vs. Power Armour Lex lying face down on top of a bunch of Chima sets (with the colour scheme it blended in, doubt many noticed what it was). I left it there because it was at RRP, and I have scanned it a couple of times since to see if it had been clearanced but to no avail.

I was in there today and I saw it again, so decided to try my luck. It scanned at €5! The girl on the till couldn't believe it when I brought it up to pay.

I got most of a #8038 Battle of Endor for £2 at a boot fair a couple of years back. The seller lied when he said "all the pieces are there", but I didn't care, I just wanted the Lego... couldn't believe my luck when I dug into the bag and found the instruction booklet! Missing maybe £10 worth of parts, but had all the minifigs :-)

Also did well for Bionicle this year, got a suitcase full for £15, and a couple of crates of good stuff for £5 each.

i scored at the flea market. Not big, but still special to me. I was walking around the booths that were in the gravel when I felt something begin to scrape on the bottom of my shoe that wasn't gravel. To my surprise, it was a light tan camel. Little dirty and scratched up but in good shape. I talked to the person at the booth and asked how much and she said that I could have it(no cost!)

might not be the biggest or the mightiest thing or in the best shape but taking into account that even the used is currently 6.39 on bl, i'm happy.

Made the mistake of looking on ebay for LEGO on my day off which was in the middle of the week. After a bit of searching around, I found #7307 just about to finish on auction and won it for £13.49 BNIB and Free P&P. For a set (I'm a sucker for LEGO Planes) that finished in 2011 and is going for around £24 plus P&P on top elsewhere, I didn't think that was too bad?

I find ebay quite good midweek when people who are not used to setting the right time for finishing the auction (i.e. on a Sat/Sun night). You tend not to get too many bidders, if any at all, one good reason for shift work I suppose! This ebayer had zero feedback as well, so I took a risk, but it paid off!

First big brag in over a year: Picked up #10228 Haunted House this week for $90 on craigslist. It was a little dusty but in perfect adult owned shape with the exception of a missing tan shrub. Great find and right in time for Halloween!!!

Picked up a #10175 TIE Advanced from a guy on Reddit for $110 shipped. He sold it to me as needing "some" pieces, and when I got it I found that he had used a sharpie on the back page of the instructions to do the inventory (drag, but not the end of the world.) It had all the major pieces but still had to pick up maybe $10 worth, including all the short gray hoses (had to cut up a large hose to make the short ones, but that went smoothly.)

So for about $125 and a little effort got a #10175. Also over a hundred of extra pieces that were in the bag, most look like they're from the #7181 TIE Interceptor!
