Expensive bet (and PAB collective)

Hey, anyone who wants bricks from Brighton this weekend please give me a shout. I'm on my phone so can't find the original thread, sorry!

Also, I just made a potentially expensive bet with the hubby. If he sees 7 Maersk lorries before we get to Brighton (four hour drive) he can have the container ship. I really don't understand the point of it!

(8 and we can have the train as well, which I do want!)

    I like the Maersk container ship but since it's not town scale (understandably), it doesn't fit in quite as well as other sets.

    The Maersk train is excellent, and I would somehow try to adjust the terms of the bet so that winning the train is triggered at the same time or before buying the container ship.

    I once bet the wife I could go a week without buying lego! Needless to say I was on tea duty for quite some time!!

    There are other "activities" that could take place in the car while he is driving that might get him to agree to buy the Maersk Train.

    Ha ha. We're at 10 and still on the M25! not sure we cAn afford to go any higher...what sets are bigger? Just ucs and death star right?

    Love it! You couldn't play that game on the A14 to Felixstowe without having to buy the whole LEGO catalogue by the time you'd arrived!

    Flagship is only the 39th biggest set of all time so plenty of scope to 'upgrade' from there - great game by the way!

    Well the flagship won his/our/my money. He spent the afternoon building it with our friend whilst us girls hit the shops. It's very impressive :-) we now also have friends who'll go to the Brighton store for us :-)

    One day (after I finish my Volume II LEGO CD (1949-90s) in October, I'll be adding this set (among many others, some aren't even in Bricklink yet) to the Brickset database. It is the largest LEGO set of the 20th Century, that is completely unknown to most LEGO Collectors... the 1962-65 #7100 Educational Set, a USA Samsonite exclusive wooden box set that is nearly 3 ft. long by nearly 2 ft. wide, by 5 inches deep.

    So far, I only know of 1 American collector who owns one of these rare beauties!

    I just bought one of these on eBay. It is impressive (and heavy) to say the least. Mine came about half full of pieces from the era, so I am assuming that they were original to the set, but I'd love to be able to determine what the original brick inventory was.
