Well that is what you should have posted here.

@Adzbadboy That's hardly community spirit is it? Selling a lot to a forum member and then openly boasting how much you have profited on it...

^^^ Maybe. maybe not. Actually, I didn't noticed the first time that the last couple of sets were minis. Still, this is a place to post your "great finds" not your profits.

And if you sold them here, you really shouldn't have posted that...

Found a series 6 "Statue of Liberty" at a local toy store last night. I always wanted one but didn't want to pay to get one shipped from bricklink. I put that one down as a small win.

In what is surely an unprecedented triumph, I found a #9473 Mines of Moria clearanced at $20 at a Wal-Mart. Pretty good price.

But here is what makes this a "great find". Upon inspecting it at home, I found there was a piece of tape with a bit of wrapping paper stuck to the front. So this set has been in someone's house.

Standard banter would tell you that a set you purchase in Wal-Mart that has been in someone's house has more than likely been compromised. At a minimum the minifigs should be missing. More likely the entire contents will have been replaced with junk.

Opened it up and I was pleased to find all the parts present and accounted for.

A near perfect #10178 for approx £25 as part of a bigger lot of star wars sets on ebay. since I'm new to collecting Lego didn't realise it was a #10178 until it arrived thought it was an older version of the at-at. very happy indeed

It was. It just got posted right as I was heading out to work. I messaged him asking if he could end it and about the Café Corner, and I would pay as soon as I got home. I got on an hour after I said I would and he messaged me twice asking if I was still interested. The second message he knocked the shipping in half.

I got 9 lego minifigures from my local car boot for £3, I also spotted a lego knights kingdoms fortress for £25 but sadly I had spent most of my money by then but it looked well worth the money :-D

    The heck was that??

    Here we go:

Got that for $580. I could see the Café Corner well enough. The mystery was in the two boxes on the side opened. I could tell the one has a raised baseplate in it and wasn't sure what it was. I only asked about the Café Corner. I asked if the pieces were in the box. He replied telling me "all the pieces for the big buildings will be there either sealed bags or for some they may be in the tub". I guess I didn't pick up on the plural word BUILDINGS as the two other boxes are Market Street and Green Grocer. I'm just blown away right now.

Congrats on that fantastic find @jdylak.

I don't know if you'll believe me, but I was going to bid on that auction. Had it saved in my watch list, but completely forgot about it until about an hour after the auction had ended.

A great haul, glad one of our own was able to score it! :o)

Not a hugely reduced price but I did pick up the new #859839 Pirate minifigure pack yesterday with 10% off. 4 pirates with brilliant facial expressions and some accessories (and a parrot!) - going to have to dig the rest of the pirates out of the loft :-)

I just aquired a Homemaker Bungalow 232 for less than the price of one of the two old brown 32 x 32 baseboards included in the set. Happy Bunny

Not exactly brag worthy but found #9444 cole's tread assualt for $19 and #9441 kai's blade cycle for $7 a couple days ago at Target. My LO was ecstatic, I overheard her bragging about it to our baby so I thought I should report the 'bragging' :-)

Could be that the package was damaged and there was a discount on it as a result.

So, I can finally post in this thread. My boy and I were wondering around our local Target and found a sidekick full of series 9 minifigs. We thought that was a cool enough find, until I looked closer and saw a handful of series 6 mixed in. I finally scored myself a statue of liberty and genie, along with a few others.

I bought a set that was damaged (not the pirates) and they mucked up knocking 10% off just that by taking it off the whole lot, large PAB cup included :-)

Found a #10198 complete with box for $60 on Craigslist. Had high hopes it would have a smooth hair Leia but it didn't.

So on Sunday afternoon I responded to a Craigslist posting. The listing was very short, modestly titled "Bin full of LEGO". Usually this type of thing is a bust with all of the MB, crayons, and toy cars mixed in, but I figured I'd give it a shot. From the pictures I could tell this lot had potential. So over the next few days I'll be chronicling what I was able to suss from the haul. Oh by the way I only paid $35 dollars plus gas, which cost me $30 so $65 total. (yes I am that obsessed, that I drove two hours to pick it up) I hope it was worth it!

Day 1: Fit for a king

So I've picked up the haul and the whole 2-hour trip my mind is racing guessing at what I might have. I have some idea based on my preliminary inspection. The LEGO bricks were packed to the top of one of those gray plastic bins. The guy meet me at a storage center, and I was a little late so I didn't want to take up more of his time by going through all of the stuff in front of him. I made the long trip so I was going home with the bin either way. I was able to peek inside of a blue LEGO case that looked to be from the early 90s. It was packed with vintage castle instructions! At this point I started to get pretty excited. I threw everything in the back of the Jeep and headed home. The first thing I did when I got home is inventoried the instructions I had. They aren't in great condition, but really for what they are I am thrilled. Here is what was in the blue case:

    Horse Cart #6022

    Twin Arm Launcher #6039

    Blacksmith shop #6040

    Armor Shop #6041:

    Battering Ram #6062

    Black Monarch's Castle #6085

    Stunt 'Coper N' Truck #6357

    Family Car #6633

    Highway Maintenance Truck #6653

    Camouflaged Outpost #6066

    Forestmen's River Fortress #6077

    Turbo Prop #6687

    Police Rescue Boat #4010

    Rescue Helicopter #6697

    Knight's Castle #6073

    Forestmen's Hideout #6054

    King Kahuka's Throne #6262

    Inter-Planetary Shuttle #6848

    Renegade Runner #6268

    Barnacle Bay Value Pack #1729

    Airport #6392

    Kings Castle #6080

As you can imagine I was at this point trying to temper my excitement, because realistically I knew it would be a miracle if all of the pieces were in the bucket. Still, I had about 45 IBS of something.

I had to decide which set to build first. The Armor Shop #6041 was the only set that looked to be intact so that only took a bit to finish up.

The Armor Shop #6041 -99.9% complete
    missing: the knight's banner flag

Next I decided to go big! I figured there might be a good bit of set cannibalism as the building goes on so, I decided to start with my favorite of the bunch; Kings Castle #6080. It....took....hours..... plus the air isn't working up stairs so It was like a sauna in the bathroom. I had poured all the pieces in the tub. My original plan was to clean all of the pieces, then put them together, but I decided to build first, then individually clean the sets. This is messy I know, but I was ready to build! I am happy to say the first day of building went well. I found most of the pieces, and think the ones I missed are just hiding really well. Two sets down!

    Kings Castle #6080 98-99% complete
    Missing:
white helmet flare thingy (what's this called?)
    white saddle
    Black Saddle
    3x flat black sqaures
    black axe

Well yes, but I was hoping to start a discussion about how to go about rebuilding a haul such as this, and also discuss some great classic sets. I thought it might appeal to fans of LEGO especially those in the 25-35 range. Is it ok to keep posting?

My latest best find was the Coast Guard Helicopter #60013 when I was in Scotland a month ago. Considering it's selling in the local Tesco for 37 euro, grossly overpriced, it was a steal. I must've visited 3 Asdas and a few other toy shops looking for bargains but I picked that up for £10 which I figure is about 40% of the RRP - unfortunately the shark was the old design but can't complain. I also got an A-Wing which I wanted for Admiral Ackbar at 1/2 price.

Day 2: Desertion of Troops in the Black Monarch's Castle

So on day two of my reconstruction project I was able to pretty much complete the Black Monarch's Castle #6085 . It did take several hours, and some of the pieces were very hard to locate. Sadly, it is missing a couple of the unique pieces. So if any of you can point me in the right direction to buy them I'd appreciate it.
