What about a set based on the episode where Bart, Nelson, Milhouse and Martin go on a road trip to the 1982 World's Fair complete with Sunsphere.

    Complete with wigs!

I think this is likely to descend into a series of 'unusual' set ideas. Never mind though, my suggestion simply revolves around any of the following moments:

I hope they don't base them on single episode stories, but more general themes.

I imagine they will, maybe do the odd iconic set like the volcano lair with Hank Scorpio or a Radioactive Man set perhaps.

Series 13 will be a series based on The Simpsons, as part of a drive to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of that series.

I doubt I'll buy many of the Series 12 as they are going to be tied to the movie. Unless there are some particularly good characters in the movie, that we do not yet know about, of course.

Making a whole series of Simpsons is a good idea as it cuts down on rubbish small builds and also minimises repeat characters (especially if you feel for them), but I'd prefer them not to label it as CMF. Why not just call it Simpsons Series 1.

They could easily fill series13-20 with Simpsons' characters.

Just hope they live up to expectations...

I hope this is true as my kids will love it. Lets be honest CMFs need a bit of something special and this could be it. Its a nice way for TLG to encourage children towards the new line too.

Great news, however, I'd like to know the source of this rumour. All About Bricks says it as it was confirmed - where, by who?

    I'm just scared by this:
At least in the UK, there will be no building sets at mainstream retail to go alongside the Minifigures.
Does it mean the rumoured set list was whole put together by some bored AFOL and there won't actually be any sets? I hope not. Yes, we buy the licensed sets (and sometimes the regular ones, too) most of the time for minifigs, but I feel this time there are literally endless options of what to do as a set.
  • imhotep85imhotep85 Member Posts: 24
I struggle to believe this, does it limits the audience for CMF's to AFOLs? I'll put some money on it being false and eat my hat when it's true. :)
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
No because kids still like Simpsons.

All About Bricks gets their rumors from inside. They're always right from what I've seen- they reported the first rumors on TMNT, Lone Ranger, the 2012 lists, ect.

I like the sound of this, but the news (if there is indeed any truth in it) seems to go even further to confirm that the CMF team are running short of ideas.

Or sales of the series are falling because consumers are losing interest, or LEGO thinks there is an untapped market for licensed CMFs, or FOX came to LEGO with the suggestion of Simpsons CMFs, etc. It could be any of a number of reasons.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
The more I think about it, the more it seems weird. Why have such a licensed series out for four months or so? It should just be Simpsons series 1 not CMF series 13. Would they do Simpsons then go back to a regular series? It just seems wrong.

Maybe it simply means they'll all be LEGO Store exclusives? Though have we ever seen an entire licensed line only available in LEGO Stores? I suppose if The Simpsons LEGO is to be marketed more towards adults then that makes a bit more sense.

Either way, I'm already weary of the CMFs so a Simpsons series would be welcome. As long as they have a longer lifespan than regular series.

Why would TLG do Simpsons as CMFs? Makes no sense commercially when they can put the figures in sets.

There are literally hundreds of Simpson characters, take 16 that aren't in any sets and package them in unsearchable tiny boxes (not bags), throw in a rare (limited to 5000)character and you have a winner. Your not only selling to Lego fans, but Simpson fans would spend tons of money collecting all characters.
OK so I was off by a series.

Last time this topic was new I brought up how the could turn the CMF line into all Simpsons characters. There are massive amounts of characters and variations they could go with. I have all of the Playmates Simpsons characters from years back and having all the Simpsons characters in Lego form would be awesome!

I'll just quote myself. Thank you me.

I'm not so sure; would they really offer a whole series (or multiple series) of character minifigures for €2.50 a piece, when plenty of those characters would sell sets worth 20 times that? If the license has any sort of longevity they might run the risk of giving away too much, too soon and struggling for minifigures to fill sets down the line. Then again, it is obviously a massive universe to pull some, so maybe I'm wrong.

^^^^ With regards to SDCC exclusives, if they happen, my money is on Radioactive Man and Fallout Boy. I used to collect Playmates Simpsons figures and had these guys:

A few treehouse of horror alternate versions such as bart with a fly head and mr burns as dracula and homer with a donut head etc etc would be cool.
  • jockosjunglejockosjungle Member Posts: 701
I suppose its a test, is there really a market for an infinite number of minifigures?
  • BeavBeav Member Posts: 303
I cant see them ever running out of figures to put in sets, but the minifig series is interesting, didnt think theyd go down that route to start with but its fine with me.

As long as they aren't in sets, that way they'd pretty much ruin their sales.

I hope they do this. It's a brilliant move as the Simpsons has an endless supply of characters.
  • GIR3691GIR3691 Member Posts: 674
According to the internet, there are over 150 "main" characters and over 2000 "guest" characters that have appeared. At 3 series of 16 per year, they could do a solid 3 years of minifigs and never branch out from the core character roster. That doesn't even include the inevitable hundred variants on top of that.

    They've created a monster.
  • just2goodjust2good Member Posts: 247
I wonder if anyone has seen these in the catalog, as they were supposedly in there. Has any of y'all? I doubt it, but I'm curious- how are the figures?

It could kill the non-licensed CMF series though (if it is not already dead). If you don't like it, you stop collecting at this series.

Whereas having a separate series just for the Simpsons would make more sense - like Team GB was not officially part of the CMF line.
  • icey117icey117 Member Posts: 510
@CCC Licenced CMF is not going to influence the nonlicenced CMF more than the licenced themes otherwise influence nonlicened themes. There's a huge marked for CMF's. It might need a refreshment of content, but TLC is able to so that. :-)
  • ccjwprongsccjwprongs Member Posts: 104
Nerdly claims to have the scoop on the Simpsons range.

We're looking at a D2C Simpson House in April 2014, that being the only set, followed by a CMF wave (series 13) in May, with "Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Moe, Itchy & Scratchy and more..." to be included.

^This sounds a lot more believable than previous set reports. I think TLG have too much going on to launch another whole licensed theme, but a CMF range and D2C set seems plausible.

That depends on whether the Simpsons is a separate line or not. If it is CMF Series 13, then anyone collecting non-licensed CMFs has the choice to (i) stop, take a break and have a gap in their collection for S13, or (ii) collect the Simpsons ones to have a complete set.

In this sense, if they are S13, then they have significant effect on CMF collectors - there is crossing over of licensed minifigs into a non-licensed range. Much more so than SW has on City, for example. There is no crossover there.

Yes, do they mean Lego featuring in 'The Simpsons' (like that Blocko episode) or a 'Lego Simpsons' animation (either cg or otherwise)?

  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
From the wording it sounds more like a 'Lego simpsons' like the Padawan Menace or Empire Strikes Out. Which would presumably provide an additional exclusive minifig!

That's a good point about the size. Maybe they'll include Maggie as the 'accessory' with Marge. Similarly I hope they include Santa's Little Helper with Bart, and Snowball II with Lisa. Homer will get a doughnut and a can of Duff, obviously :o)

I reckon the doughnut. I wonder if Moe will be serving the CMF grape juice? I'm hoping for a Barney too. I somehow doubt we will get Duffman, but he should be relatively easy to MOC.
