Well Normally TRU has been posting sales like BOGOs at 6-7am on a Sunday, but apparently this listing went live, with the 15% off feature, at 12 am apparently (or the item went live at 12am and the coupon went live at 6-7am)
@cloaked7: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundwave_(Transformers)
It was available at SDCC but sold out quickly. Been on the fence if I wanted to dip my toes in Transformers, but was warned it's a wallet killer even compared to Lego. If I do, it surely will start with this fantastic Soundwave with cassettes.
My favs so far are Grimlock, Soundwave and Starscream. Though Optimus is the only one I have out and routinely pose randomly on my desk :)
$120 sounds painful, but it does look like a complete set. Is it metal, like the original Transformers, or lousy plastic? If metal, then that is a bargain.
Wish I had used it first. Shoot, who am I kidding. I can't get rid of Plankton!
@pharmjod I didn't realize they had a Masterpiece Optimus Prime too! Too much good stuff will kill me...

As for the Masterpiece Transformers, they have some metal in them. The original Masterpiece Optimus has a lot of metal, but the newer one that came out last year (with the trailer) is more plastic. The Soundwave is more plastic. Metal would be nice, but not a must. The biggest difference between these and the originals though is how articulated they are. It is unreal the amount of poses you can do with the newer figures. Also, by comparison, if you wanted the import Soundwave with all of his cassettes, I think it would cost you something like $300 or more (because you have to buy his cassettes separately). The TRU one comes with all of the cassettes and is MSRP of $119.99. Even at a mark up on eBay, it tends to be a better value over the import, though I have heard the import is a better quality. I can't comment though because I've not seen the two side by side.
Your point is still valid, of course. TRU could have been a lot more clever in promoting and capitalizing on the popularity of the set like they did with the Yoda Chronicles promotion where they gave away the "NY I <3" Yoda only with the purchase of a marked up X-Wing. I think there's a pretty good chance they had no idea of 41999's popularity, and the webmaster just set the product to go live at midnight and went home.
I don't know tho. I'm not putting it up right away even tho it would be any easy double profit.
Thanks @itsnotme
Yeah I drove up to Irvine from San Diego to get mine. Fortunately we're on road trip to the Central Valley today.
Your best bet is just to go and check...
It sounded like the TRU in Mission Viejo had 5+ because I bought 2 but the clerk said they sold 3 earlier. There is a limit of 1, but they allow you to buy one through pick up and at the store if they are available. I don't know if they had more in the back.
Also they were selling series 10 packs still.
