I buy sets that I want/like or can use the pieces to add on another set. Coming from collecting SW action figures. I sometimes buy a set for the mini figures alone(gungan sub, geonosian ship)... don't want to encourage LEGO with that practice but oh well. >_< At least I make sure they are at like 40% I suppose. I don't know if I'd bite at Malevolence at $64, that's really tempting tho... do not like the Clone Wars mini fig look at all...

My walmart didn't have any of the superheroes on sale nor the uruk army or unexpected gathering. The rest seemed to be in line with most that was posted here. I think I may try to see if weathertop goes lower than the 40. I need more ringwraiths, does anyone know know vaguely how long it is between markdowns?
  • ckenda1ckenda1 Member Posts: 121
@Brixy -- none of the sets mentioned here have been clearanced at the WMs around me; matter of fact almost nothing has. The toys dept lady at one said to check back Tues/Wed so maybe some more sets will go on sale in your area then too.

I was hopeful since the Lego aisle was in such disarray (sets jammed into end caps sideways, other sets mixed up with one another along the shelf) but it turned out to be the normal stocking procedures for the store since I could only find the SW planets and the star fighter on sale. Glad others are having such success, but it just reminded me of why I rarely venture into Walmart. The Lego stack near the scanner made me laugh - it was starting to teeter precariously from all the discarded sets.

^^ don't give up. My Walmart never has clearance sales on Lego. And I do mean never. It always blows my mind bc another store 15 minutes up the road does.

Yet my store actually had all the items mentioned in this thread on clearance this time around. I couldn't believe it. The only thing consistent about Walmart's mark downs is how inconsistent they are.

Tampa Gunn Hwy I finally found the 9500 Sith Infiltrator for $49 and I chose the best of two boxes left. Got to my car and realized it had been opened. Inside had bags taped up. No thanks, ran back and got the other one that had a bad corner. I have got to remember to check the seals. I also got 9497 Republic Fighter for $25 and the Jedi Starfighter for $21. I've been stalking these sets for a year. And the seaside house for $35.

I almost got the gungan sub for $40 but that's too much. The last Mine at $70 was tempting also but too much. $64 Jabba's Palaces were gone. I want to see more City stuff get marked down. But very happy about the Star Wars gear.

Has anyone seen 9525-1: Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Fighter marked down? That would be fun at $25 or so. They had a bunch at full price if I recall or maybe like 10 % off. Let's see that and the sub go down again...

Went around to 8 WMs today (I was out of the country on a business trip for 2 weeks and this was my search for Lego clearance make-up day). Didn't find anything at 50% off, but was able to pick up a few sets at 30% that I had been waiting for (all SWs as listed).

The strangest thing I saw was a B-Wing, completed with both price & shelf sticker, at RRP.

    ^ Irvine, off Alton?
  • PoochyPoochy Member Posts: 479
Yep. I've seen a Mindstorm set there a few months ago as well.

@odshowtime - I did see a stack of Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Fighters at one store marked down to $35. I'm kind of hoping those will hang around for the next wave as I actually wouldn't mind one for my own collection. I think it's a fun looking set.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
@Poochy Seems every Walmart & Target in the area have been cleared.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
I had been out of town as well -- too late :P

^ Am gonna start to plan my vacations and business travels around TG/WM clearance sales from now on. As God is my witness, I shall never go Lego hungry again!

Just wondering could anyone pick up some sets for me?? I'll pay the Cost plus shipping to me plus maybe something extra or perhaps some freebies (CMF's, polybags, other things we can discuss). Payment will be via Paypal. Do send me a PM. Thanks!

Just curious has anyone seen the 7965 Millennium Falcon on clearance? If so, how much was it?
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
    ^ not since post Christmas

Yes, $99 at one store, but the boxes had been severely crushed.

I found one marked down to $19.99, but that was several weeks ago. I also did find a Millenium Falcon at one store for $99, both were in good shape. I picked one up.

Picked up 3 unexpected gatherings for $49. Left several on the shelf. One WM had the rest of the listed sets, but i passed on most.
  • odshowtimeodshowtime Member Posts: 49
Thanks to everyone for the Mandalorian Fighters updates. I checked my phone and the ones I saw on Sunday were $39 or 20% off. I guess I can check on my phone now I have all the bar codes scanned in. It seems like people are hearing the prices may drop again midweek...

Found 30% off on older Star Wars, Batman, Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, City, And Creator sets. Bought a Droid Escape to make sure I got one, going to wait on the rest. Fingers crossed for 50% off Batcave!
  • FollowsCloselyFollowsClosely Member Posts: 1,300
50% off Batcave. Good luck with that one!

50% off Batcave. Good luck with that one!

There are a lot of them warming the shelves at several Walmarts around here at 30% off. I noticed them over a week ago at 4 different locations and they were still there this afternoon. I picked up a few to help fund my hobby, but I left a lot behind. If they hit 50% off they will go FAST!

  • lulwutlulwut Member Posts: 417
The Batcave is the hardest one to find for half off. I lucked out last year when a smaller walmart decided to cut down their aisle for Lego.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
hmm, I just saw several Batcaves, a MF Werewolf set, The Mine, and a Millenium Falcon in a strange toy aisle at my local Walmart. The price was on the shelf, but it almost looked like they were setting up for a mini clearance section. The Batcaves were still at RRP.

How long does WM wait to push from 30% off to 50% off?
  • GoldfreekGoldfreek Member Posts: 96
is #9498 Saesee Tiin's Jedi starfighter for $21 a good deal? i found a walmart with a couple but was not sure if i should pick it up or wait for a better deal. Would it be worth it for the minifigs?

Anyone need any #79003 (Unexpected Gathering)? I have one and can get more. They were $49. PM me if you need one.

    I also saw #9498 @ $21, #6863 @ $25, #6862 @ $13, #9496 @ $17, #9490 @ $13, #9489 @ $9, #75004 @ $35, #9497 @ $25, #6868 @ $35, #70705 @ $54, #70704 @ $42, #4203 @ $30, and others, but that is all I can remember at the moment.

I have feedback under the same username on eBay.

    Thanks
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
I'm thinking Unexpected Gathering won't be EOL'd anytime soon with two more movies yet to be released. Picked up a couple at $49 but left the rest.

I've never seen WM push from 30% to 50% in a single clearance cycle. The pattern around me is 30% for summer clearance, 50% for holiday clearance.

  • klatu003klatu003 Member Posts: 729
Yes my precious, local WM actually had all the Hobbit sets at 30% off. I was hoping for more #9471 cause you can never have too many orcs, but I got the last one. Amazon has been $24 for the last week or so, now it is back to RRP.
  • SquareSideSquareSide Member Posts: 170
Bought another Droid Escape and the last Endor Trooper pack. Can never have enough Storm Troopers. Plus no C3PO in any of the Jabba sets seems kind of weird(could of made an "exclusive" 3PO with green slime on him or something. =P I sure need to build a lot of sets.

    Hit another WM this AM. Found #9500 @ $49, #4204 @ $69, #6858 @ $9, #7741 @ $7, #9407 @ $13, #9469 @ $9, #9499 @ $40, #9492 @ $35, #9678 @ $7 and #9473 @ $54.

Am I right in saying that most of the time the discount has been 30% off for this Walmart clearance? What are the chances that it will go to 50%? Will there be anything left to clear at 50%
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
I found the main ones I wanted.
My son has Goblin King on his list. I found it at $69. It obviously is not a huge markdown, considering Amazon has had this at $75 forever, but I thought I would pick it up for now.
I grabbed the Wargs for my daughter. I bought it before the clearances with a rollback at $38, but I have seen it for $35.
The only other item I grabbed from Walmart was Hulk's breakout. I left that on the shelf several times, but finally grabbed it. For some reason I have always liked the look of that set, and I just couldn't leave the poor set behind.
    That was $35.

Oh, and I bought a Friends treehouse. We already have it, but that will make a nice bday present for some kid during the school year. I wish they would have had more than the one.

There are a few I would like if prices went down to 50%, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

The toy lady I spoke to this AM said that they weren't being super aggressive with LEGOs and toys in general. She said it could be a couple of months before they decide to drop the price further, if at all, and that's assuming the sets are still there (not likely after a couple of months). She said they usually are 50% or more right after XMAS.

You may however find a couple of sets with a greater markdown than 30%. For example, #9500 @ $49 is 46% off.

Anyone seen SW planet sets on clearance?

There were tags for them at 7 each at one wally, but none on the shelf. Never were any on the shelf either.

Plenty on the shelves at multiple locations in SE Mi for $7.

Found #4203 @ $30. Not a great discount, but goes well with the #4204 The Mine I picked up for $69 earlier. I think I am done. Target and Walmart clearance + some LEGO Exclusives (Orthanc and soon Ewok Village) give me and the boys plenty to do over the coming months. And then there is the Winter releases for The Hobbit!

Today at Walmart as I stalked the clearance isle I picked up
#3815 Heroic Heroes of the Deep for $5
    #9469 Gandalf Arrives for $5
I also noticed the SW planet sets for $5 each in abundance.
  • GIR3691GIR3691 Member Posts: 674
    Which planet sets? Wave 1-2?
  • starfailurestarfailure Member Posts: 138
I grabbed a 75008-1: TIE Bomber & Asteroid Field on clearance for $7.
Not sure if any other planet sets were included. The sticker on the shelf specified Tie Bomber.

Planets have been on clearance for a very long time across many retail box stores.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ think they went as low as $3 last round for certain ones.
  • PepperPepper Member Posts: 91
The only planet set I've seen on clearance is #9678-1: Twin-Pod Cloud Car & Bespin @ $7. I wish I could find some others...
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
Found a $15 Ghost train today. Was hoping they had more but my mom only saw the one. Shelf was marked $40 but scanned $15.

Funny, with all the red stickers in the Lego aisle, there doesn't seem to be any discountsin on Friends stuff right now.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Someone mentioned Olivia's tree house was found. I think someone mentioned the vet set. I did find one tree house, which I grabbed. My kids have bday parties during the year, and I'm sure this will make a nice gift for some kid.

I haven't heard or seen of anything else, though.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I've seen the tree house, the small boat set, emma's car, and one other that I can't remember which on sale at different WM's.
