^ My local Target has The Hobbit game at 50% off, which is also a pretty good parts pack.
  • khmellymelkhmellymel Member Posts: 1,313
^ ohhhh... I so wish there was a Target in this neighborhood (or that I had a car!).
  • DeckerDecker Member Posts: 65
    i found 1 #60008 at Target tonight for $49.00 and a #79111 for $70.

Found a number of Monster Fighters, few SW Planets, and some city at 15% off. Hobbit game at 50% off, still passed on it for parts. Not enough going on there.

Agreed, I already have one Memory game for my 4 year old, I don't need another.

^^ I still don't consider the game a good parts value even at 50% off. Passed on what I've seen . . .
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
I don't think any of the games are good parts value at 50%. The parts just aren't that great.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,789
Ugh, I wish I could find the Constitution train set for 70 bucks
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
It's $85 at Target and amazon right now, keep looking around in the next month and you might be able to get one for 70 or cheaper.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Minotarus, though at $12.50 was still cheap enough for me to pull the trigger on it as a game for my 6 year old nephew as a bday gift.
My son has really loved the Lego games as a source of microfigs and parts to use to make his own game creations.
In general, though, I try to buy them at a larger discount than 50%.

Success! I noted the two big Galaxy Squad sets, 70705 and 70704, at a Target on Monday both 30% off. Stopped by again this afternoon (Thursday) during lunch and low and behold there they were at 50% off, as predicted.

These sets are definitely a good value at < $0.05 per part. Thanks to everyone for all the useful information. $140 of Lego for $70 is what this is all about.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
#70705 is 50% off at the Highland Ranch Target on County Line and University. Nothing else notable.
  • odshowtimeodshowtime Member Posts: 49
oh yeah I found them 50% at Boot Ranch near Clearwater, FL
  • ludzikludzik Member Posts: 429
The prices dropped today ??? I thought they adjusted prices on Saturdays and not Thursdays?
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
My store does it on Wednesdays
  • odshowtimeodshowtime Member Posts: 49
The store I went to definitely changed between this Monday and today. And I have to correct my math I'm embarrassed $.062 per part after tax.

If you are referring to the Constitution train set, the Target by me does not have it on sale.
  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
^Sorry, I meant Target.com has them for $85. I don't know when they will be put on clearance in the stores, but I imagine there will be some good discounts to be had too.
  • psychopuppetpsychopuppet Member Posts: 71
Most of the clearance at mine has been cleaned out. Except the hearse and werewolf sets. I may pick up a couple of both if they've been reduced again. Some where in my mind is the need for a fleet of hearse's and a pack of werewolves.

    I picked up #9476 @ 30%, #79001 @ 50%, #9471 @ 30%, #5766 @ 50%, #7286 @ 50% and (2x) #10659 @ 50%. Haven't seen many Super Heroes or Lone Ranger sets on clearance and I'd love to get some!
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
Picked up the Bug Obliterator for $38+tax (red card discount). It was the only one that was 50% off. There were only a couple of other sets on clearance but they were still 30%. Overall the Lego aisle was looking pretty pathetic.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 836
My two Targets are still stuck at 15% off for over 2 weeks now. I thought they'd mark stuff down today (Thurs) but nothing again. The TLR sets are still full priced here in Iowa.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ confirmed. Checked my Target before and after work hoping to see some double stickers. Only things double stickered are MB Warcraft sets and they still aren't as low as I saw them out of town this weekend.

Found another Unexpected Gathering set today. This time for $20.98.

But the Galaxy Squad sets are still where they have been for the past month at 30% off.

None of the Targets around me (I've been to 5 of them, 6 total if you count the one while traveling) have had Unexpected Gathering marked down at all. Of course, most only had 1 left. I was told though that if a set was really popular and they sold well in that store, the store wouldn't clearance that and would take the gamble for it to sell at full price.

I checked 4 Targets yesterday looking for the "Thursday" mark down. Everything had the same price it had last week. I did pick up two more of the Lone Ranger Train sets for $70 and 6 of the Cavalry builder sets for $10 each. ...and one more Orc Forge for $33 just for good measure.

This is pretty much what I saw yesterday. By me, Lego generall never goes 30%, because it sells too well. I picked up the one galaxy squad set my son likes, because I do not believe I will find a better deal than 30%.

What is interesting, though, this is the latest I have seen toy clearance go. The stores by me are really only at 30% with a few select items at 50%. Usually yesterday was the day most toy clearance went to 70%.

It really is annoying how there are Targets out there selling TLR Constitution train set for only 70 when the 4 Targets I have around me all have it for retail still.

No change at mine today either. And TLR, TMNT, and Galaxy Squad still the retail prices they've been forever.

If it makes you feel any better only 1 of the 4 targets had the TLR sets on clearance. I would be more then happy to send you one but by the time you add shipping it would be the same as getting it off of Amazon or Target.com

If that annoys you, be sure to never move to Europe. Your head would explode from the injustice of disparate pricing.

I love how I have 4 Targets within spitting distance. Two have lots of trains, two don't. Guess which ones have them on clearance.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
I have not seen any TLR on clearance.
  • GoldfreekGoldfreek Member Posts: 96
One Target by me has the silvermine shootout at 30% off and has none on the shelf. A different target has the Train at 30% off but none on the shelf. Ofcouse they each have the sets that the other has on clearence.
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
This is only my opinion, but I think the train is going to be huge in the aftermarket, and this might be one of those "holy crap I wish..." moments as we see them going for $70-$85 these days.

Makes us much sense at Target hiding their full-priced Helms Deep sets in the stockroom, where they've been for weeks, and where they remain.

^ They are probably holding onto the Helms Deeps for Black Friday right?
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ funny, I was just thinking about what Target might do this year . . .

I want to know how you know they have them in their stockroom? Are you checking the DPCI number? Could it be the shelf label was removed during PTM'ing? ( Pre transition merchandising) Right now ALL Target's are going through some phase of transition from summer set to winter/ christmas set.
  • RonyarRonyar Member Posts: 373
If you scan a bar code for the set on their price scanner it will tell you both the price and if they have them in stock in the stockroom. (Use the bar codes from the set pages here on brick set on a smartphone. ).

Either there's a lot of people who dig Lego clearance in my area (southern NJ) or Target is clearing their shelves, because in the last 2 days I've hit every Target (9 of em!) in NJ within 25 miles of me and not only is most of the clearance stuff gone, but the whole Lego aisle looks like a tornado hit it.

So the slim pickins' are now near zilch.
  • TinKnockerHimesTinKnockerHimes Member Posts: 76
Mine went from stocked to empty in a week, either they pulled everything or their is another LEGO collector in my area...
  • juggles7juggles7 Member Posts: 451
Starfire, yes, I'm checking the DPCI number by entering it by hand into the price scanner. There are 3 or 4 stores not too far from me, and they all have the set in the stockroom. I asked an associate about them one time, who told me there were 3 back there, which he'd be glad to sell to me at full price. Meanwhile they had plenty of room for them on the barren Lego aisle. I don't bother asking about them any more. They want them to gather dust in the stockroom, so be it.
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
The train seems like the kind of set Target would hold back for a Black Friday sale. I haven't seen it in a couple of weeks at the target by me.
  • baronbaron Member Posts: 106
random sales all over the place it seems, found Man of Steel - Black Zero escape for 9.99...picked up two and glad I hadn't bought it beforehand.
  • ckenda1ckenda1 Member Posts: 121
Went to another Target that I hadn't checked in a few weeks and everything was still 15% off. Bloody brilliant!
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
^ It seems they mark down on Wednesdays or Thursdays, depending on store, so you might want to check later in the week.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987

I think the point, though, is that after several weeks, the items are still at 15%.

As stated, this is all very out of character for Target. I've been able to measure the exact date for 70% off summer clearance for a number of years now. (ETA: Not that I would ever see Lego at that... they are always marked down much slower. Point being, is that there sales are all out of whack compared to past history.)
  • BrickarmorBrickarmor Member Posts: 1,258
^Ditto. And none of the Walmarts around me have clearanced anything, nor do they have anything newer than TLR! Last year it was like clockwork: out with the POTC/HP, in with the SW and Super Heroes. Of course baffling randomness is synonymous with WM clearance, but Target?!
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
^Exactly! The clearances have been standard for years. Of course, in regards to Lego, none of it matters by me, since Lego gets picked over at 30%.
