I found all of TLR 30% off today except the Silver Mine and StageCoach. Picked up the only two Trains the had. Also saw #9500, #9499, #75013 and #6866 for 30% off too. My two targets had tons more stuff marked down today than they did a week ago.
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
@zippityzoom @lego wow both targets on flatbush have always been weak for me with clearance lego, but the queens place one is only a few blocks aways and i do ok there sometimes.

    I found sets #4440, #6865, #6869, #9463, #9464, #31000, #31006, #70704, #70705, #76001, #79106 were all 15-30% off at one near me (Deptford NJ), most of them 30%.

Was too hot to check others in my area.

Can't imagine its a good time to buy TLR for anything other than personal use.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
I agree on TLR in general. However, I think the train at 30% off is a win regardless. If I find them 50% off or greater, I will certainly buy more of that one in particular. I was more excited about the #75013 sets I found.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ Well, I would say there's good odds these sets will be available into next year. So lets say the best you get next year is 20% off. Easy enough to get with 10% off and double VIP. How does that 30% look now?

Again, for personal use its a different matter entirely.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
@pharmjod did you find the #75013 at the Lego store or Target for 30%off?

It still looks like 30%, without gimmicks needed to do so. Double VIP doesn't count for much with me. I'll take a straight discount all day long. I just bought one of the other sets with the discount, just for me, though I did pick up all of the Cavalry sets they had (6) as I had a $10 g/c which makes the discount more like 40% off. I think at that price it's a good value for a horse, cannon and 3 soldiers.

@starfire2 I find the #75013 at Target for 30% off. One target had it on sale, the other did not, so as usual, YMMV.

^ I passed on the 30% off trains I found. It only needs to hit 22% off at amazon for it to be a better deal there, and I have no doubt it will do that or more at some point. No reason to tie any money up in these right now unless 50%+ if you ask me...

I pay tax with Amazon so no break for me, but yes in general you are correct about that. I also live in an area where LEGO doesn't make it past 30% off in most cases unless it is the day after Christmas at Walmart, and even then it doesn't seem to last more than a day or so at the most.

One of the trains was for me to keep. The other was just because. I may find it cheaper, I may not. I also have 90 days to change my mind, which I frequently do when I purchase LEGO. They had 2 of the Vampyre castles at 30% off, but I now have 10 or 12 of those and while I think it will do ok I didn't feel like adding to the stack. Hopefully it will make someone else's day. One store had something like 20-30 of the Werewolf MF set. If it hits 70% off I"ll stock up just for parts.

For those near Springfield OH, some good deals to be had. I bought some of the newest Star Wars battle packs for $10 ea and amMirkwood Spider for $20.98. Various other sets that I remember we're Spider-Man's daily bugle
Showdown for $34.98, Colby city LR set 34.98, Uruk Hai army for $20.xx, was also more Star Wars , galaxy squad and creator sets.

I wouldn't necessarily count on it. The few Target stores by me are already sold out on the train and have only one or two of the other sets left. Lego might of smartly predicted that the TLR movie would be a flop and optioned to do a limited initial run. A lot depends on how much inventory other retailers have.

Remember last year at Target? Falcons for $40? I think it's going to be the same with TLR/TMNT here: some stores may have specific needs for their planograms but I doubt it means the set or theme is being discontinued.
  • ZonZon Member Posts: 213
More new stuff on clearance today (TLR, Iron Man 3), but nothing more deeply discounted that I could tell. Bought up all of the 4x #6866 X-Men sets at 30% off (plus red card 5%), which were not marked as on clearance btw...

Those were freak discounts that a very small percentage of people found. You can't compare them to anything.

Lego may have learned their lesson from Prince of Persia. Of course there is the chance that Target is holding back inventory.

About crapped my pants today....on my way to work, I found #70404 at Target marked down by 50%. Yeah... I bought all 4 of them for $50 ea.

I'm not sure a congratulations is in order. Did you buy them for resale? If so then you'll be sitting on them for another year or two... at least. That means that you have $200+ tied up in a castle set that is widely considered to be one the worst in the line.

Hit up another Target today - found 3x #75013 at 50% off (plus 5% red card!).

I have seen some sets for a change at a local target that were all about 20-25 off.
For the first time in a while I saw clearance price LEGO at a Target.
Urak hai army for 25 and Mirkwood spiders for 25, Prisoner transport and Small cottage for I think 20-25%, but here is the thing.
I was excited until I realized that I have seen those sets on Amazon for that same, if not far less prices.
So I passed on much of that stuff for now, now if those sets get to 30-40% off then maybe, but again I usually find them for about the same on Amazon at one time or another.

    #3818 30%
    #79111 30%

@madforLEGO are you in Jacksonville? The Target closest to me had the exact same sets marked down.
  • legogallegogal Member Posts: 754
My Target in Apex, NC, has about 20 sets from various themes marked down 15% as of today. I have never seen 50% discounts at this store....maybe because LEGO tend to sell very well in our area. When the discount gets to 30%, they get my attention.

A sporadic amount of discounts at my closest store, ranging from 15-30%. A couple City vehicles, the Sponge Bob carnival, the small cottage, and a few of the creator 3in1 sets. Sadly, the LotR and Hobbit sets I was watching for sold out as soon as they were discounted. Should have just grabbed those Orc Forges at RRP earlier this week.

Does anyone know when they mark the sets down additionally? Is it a weekly thing? Saw some sets with 2 stickers so they had been marked down twice, wonder when to check back. Found a #76001 today someone had hidden behind some boxes on a high shelf. Marked down to $27.98

They were marked with the red clearance labels in the top right corner.

I actually like the set myself. I did not get them for resale so I am not worried about the $. I got them for parts. Since I was in the my Dark Ages and missed #7946 ... these will have to do.

That's cool. Hey, at $200 you get close to 4,000 pieces which is a pretty sweet deal.

A week or so ago I found a #9441 at Target with a final clearance sticker of $1.68. It said AS IS, but it was MISB and in perfect condition.

Nope, in IL Chicago Western burbs.
Went again and there was less but everything that was on clearance was marked an additional 10% off.
So I got the Small Cottage for only 18 (only one left unfortunately) and a City prisoner transport set for 14.
They have two Uruk Hai left for 30% off each (21) and a bunch of Mirkwood Spider sets for 21
I picked up the two Uruk Hai and 2 of the Mirkwood Spiders figuring my brother may want one of each.

I was in Texas all last week and thought for sure everything would be gone by the time I got back....I was wrong. I found a bunch of Orc Forges for $33 each....#9471 Uruk-hai Army for $21... #60003 Fire Rescue for $20 .... #70704 Vermin Vaporizor for $30 and #70705 Obliterator for $40. I wasnt going to pick up any GS but I'm not going to pass up 50% off.

Went to Target today. Found MF #9468 and #9463 marked down 20%. Bought one of each. I will check by the next few days to see if they are marked down further.

Then, feeling lucky, I ran by Walmart. Nothing on clearance, but I see a a #7965 MF on a shelf torn open and the parts bags laying all around. In addition, the box had a lot of shelf wear. I took it to the front to talk to the manager about discounting it (thinking I'm going to get a deal... wrong!). Manger says the best he can do is 10% off. I declined and asked him why he couldn't discount it more. He told me he can send it back to the manufacturer for full credit.

Sorry if I missed it but does anyone know when Target resets prices again? I've been to 6 Targets in the last 3 days and all I found that was worth buying was a SW battlepack for $10.

I thought I read it was Thursday? I see a lot of Galaxy Squad sets at 30% off at a lot of stores. Some have been that way for a week or two. When do we expect that discount percentage to increase again? Any employees know?
  • mooman66mooman66 Member Posts: 122
My local Baltimore manager confirmed Thursday by 2PM.

I don't know about further markdowns of already-clearanced items, but the initial clearance at my local Target happened on a Wednesday.
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
I have already seen sets with the double stickers on them meaning they have be marked down a second time. I found Lone Ranger sets marked down 30% yesterday. The big train set was $70 . They still had a bunch of the Galaxy Squad stuff for 50%.
  • EKSamEKSam Member Posts: 349
One Target in my city had some sets on clearance, namely HF,City and some star wars 15-30% off. The other one has everything at RRP. :-)
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,787
I would love to find the LEGO Lone Ranger train set for 70, but have not seen it on clearance yet
  • Thanos75Thanos75 Member Posts: 1,120
They had two more of the trains yesterday. I just figured I would roll the dice and see if they are still there Thursday.
  • weaselkingweaselking Member Posts: 61
One of my local Targets had Mines of Moria for about $10 off retail, the Tree House for under $3 off, and the Quinjet for about $13 off.

Most of the clearanced stuff was gone with just the red tag in place, so I have no idea what all was on sale. I was obviously late to the party!
  • ludzikludzik Member Posts: 429
found one that had few sets at 15% Off :( That's not that appealing... even with red card savings it's not that great of a discount.. I guess I"m just spoiled.
  • pillpodpillpod Member Posts: 273
I picked up the Minotaurus game set for 50% off. It's a decent lime green parts pack. A bunch of 1x2, 1x3, and 1x4 lime bricks...as well as 1x4 lime tiles and 1x2 light bley tiles.

I think my next mini modular will be lime green...
