Three visits today on the way home from dropping my fiancee at work.

1 store had a few items on 20% clearance (#9461 Swamp Creature and #9476 Orc Forge) but none of the others did.

(The first also was completely sold out of all TLR sets except #79109 Colby City.)
  • lordzaraklordzarak Member Posts: 329
Five store visits today. Some had a decent selection of 15% markdowns. Two had 30% on the LOTR Moria set. No sightings of any 50% markdowns (excluding some Games sets)
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,425
I went to four Targets today. All of them had the Shellraiser for full price. Not really anything else marked down, only like one or two sets at each store. Nothing worth buying.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
Done a few stores today, every store had different mark downs from 10 to 30% for LOTR, SW, Creator, HF. Many stores still had some #9476 but all a full price. One store had #76001 at 30%.
  • ZonZon Member Posts: 213
Scooped up 6x #76009 Man of Steel sets at 50% off. Shellraiser was 50% off too, they had 6-7 of them, but I passed.

Found #70507 for 50% of at one target today. Went to another and found it full price. Clearance is crazy.

Clearance at Target varies from store to store.

I got the set number wrong, it's #70705.

Any hints at black friday target deals? It looks like all electronics.
  • charlatan13charlatan13 Member Posts: 118
More stuff on clearance by me. Vampire Castle (none left), MF Werewolf, Mirkwood Spiders, some City, Superheroes and odds and ends. Average of 10 - 20% off from MRSP from what I can tell.

Noticed a number of targets in the DC area have clearance stickers on LOTR and some other sets. Also had the second wave LOTR sets in stock -- and the Coast Guard City sets.

@hoyatables I'll probably be near there tomorrow; were the LotR sets discounted much?
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
stopped at a couple of targets today, while the discount % on sets remained unchanged, the number of sets discounted was much greater in both stores than it was a few days ago.
  • lordzaraklordzarak Member Posts: 329
Most sets I've seen on clearance are still at the 15% mark -- despite being moved to a section that advertises that prices have been reduced "30% or more." I'll bite at 30%, but at 15%, they're comparable to Amazon prices.

@Joseph. 15%. Not much. Check the stock online if you are looking for a specific set. Orc Forge sold out in nova (but not at the Lego store.

I went to two stores in Tampa today and there were a bunch of 10% and 20% clearances mostly City, Monster Fighters, Creator, LOTR... 70705-1: Bug Obliterator 30% at one 100% at another.

I almost picked up the Museum Heist at 30% but Amazon has the same price now. Got the Daily Bugle 76005-1 for 30% off. I look at it like a cool building for my city but now Spiderman can hang out in the city too if he wants. Not that there aren't enough Police there already!

$0.07 a part is usually what gets me going. Hopefully in another week some of this stuff will still be around but dropped lower.

I already had a stack of Orc Forges but couldnt resist buying a couple more when I say them on sale.....
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 837
Most Targets here in Iowa are the same as everyone else's. 15% off and 1 or 2 at 30%. They added a few of the Space/Alien stuff...I can't remember the name of it now...that show's how much it interests me. But from last week to this week, I'd have to say 60-70% has sold already. I guess people really love the 15% off and $2-3 discounts.

Orc Forge is long gone around me. Anyone looking to sell one?

Target in Gaithersburg MD still had a couple of Orc Forges this evening (at MSRP) - no clearance on any sets there. I had hoped for a clearance price (at least a little discount) but I picked one up anyway - didn't want to regret it later. RedCard represented a little savings, at least. (And I used some gift cards, so according to some posters that was even more of a discount ;) ).

I'm a little surprised that even the City Target in San Francisco has some clearance stuff, generally marked down 30%; #79103, #79104, and #70702 are the ones I remember. (I bit on the Turtles lair; the Shellraiser Chase I'm still weighing up.) The really odd thing is that some of the new wave Star Wars sets have showed up there; the Republic Gunship, Geonesis Duel, and Spider Droid, at least, along with a couple of the new Galaxy Squad range. Unfortunately with the exception of the big set, they're at about a 10% markup, which isn't unusual for the City branch.

Is anyone else seeing new sets in Target elsewhere?
  • vedder1029vedder1029 Member Posts: 78
I spotted 3 of the new 2013 SW sets in Pennsylvania at a target too, republic gunship, spider droid and jek's fighter... All msrp.

I can also confirm #75013 at 30% off in NYC area.

My City Target had markdowns as well. Orc Forges were $45, however.

looks like even for clearance (nationwide) its on manager's discretion to decide whether to mark it down or not.
  • norm103norm103 Member Posts: 301
^ no its not it is all systom bassed and a store dosnt have a chose its all dont by HQ.
  • SarahIsabellaSarahIsabella Member Posts: 69
^ I don't think it is all done by HQ, my local Target does not have any of the above listed sets discounted at all. I was there this afternoon and everything, with the exception of one of the Star Wars Planet sets, is still full price.
  • starwarfan77starwarfan77 Member Posts: 341
@norm103 not correct. reason i am saying is today i got to look @ the price gun @ one of the target and based on that #9488 #9489 are all suppose to be $10.00 in clearance but apparently its not in the target in my area. so although its in target sale it may not be available in a particular store because the manager did not feel like putting it just yet.

I, unfortunately, can attest to that too.

I wish it was done by HQ. I can only dream of seeing a SW/LotR set at 50% off.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
It might not be done by HQ but store managers don't get to set clearance prices either. Clearance is mostly based on sellability of items. If something doesn't sell well, it goes clearance after a period of time.
  • charlatan13charlatan13 Member Posts: 118
So...to borrow from another thread I should just hide the Lego products that I want to buy, wait until they don't sell and then sweep in and get them at clearance prices (only kidding).

I guess my Target sells plenty of Lego since I have yet to snag a deal above 20%. I do know that someone is wise since I regularly see a shelf or two marked as clearance with nothing on it. Ah...the thrill of the hunt I guess.
  • EKSamEKSam Member Posts: 349
No Lego on clearance in my neck of the evergreens.

All they had was Planet Kamino and some of the mini battle star wars sets for a lil less. They actually had series 10 mini figures so I felt around and got the Tomahawk Warrior. Also couldn't wait for a price drop on the Castle Dragon Mountain, just had to go in on that. Got back into LEGO last year and as a kid just loved the castle stuff. I'm hooked on LEGO again... >_>

My local Target has generally not had clearance below 25% off, so I was a bit dumbstruck when I walked down the LEGO aisle tonight:

    #9463 The Werewolf - 30% off
    #9473 Mines of Moria - 30% off
    #79106 Cavalry Builder - 30% off
    #79107 Comanche Camp - 30% off
    #31006 Highway Speedster - 50% off
    #31009 Small Cottage - 30% off
    #70704 Vermin Vaporizer - 50% off
    #70705 Bug Obliterator - 50% off

They also had a bunch of SpongeBob and some larger Super Heroes sets at 30% off. Most of this stuff has been out a while, but the Lone Ranger stuff hasn't been on the shelves more than two weeks. I was half expecting to see clearance stickers on the new LOTR sets that were just put out.

Yeah, found the same in SE Michigan, including the Log Cabin and lots of other Creator and Duplo for 30%. #31006 was certainly not discounted at mine. Also saw they had the TLR Constitution marked for clearance on the shelf (without price) and they were out. Was surprised at the GS sets being priced so well.

Ha, I bought one #31006! I'm not a reseller, and my LEGO budget is quite small and could be better spent on sets I actually want. Also, I didn't have much time to browse; I was there with my almost-three-year-old son who was obsessed with a My Little Pony talking Pinkie Pie a couple aisles over. I'll probably stop back by and pick up a couple #79106 and maybe #9463, if any are left, for parts. Unfortunately, I just don't have any interest in Galaxy Squad.

And that was the one set I really wanted, of course mine didn't have it marked, nor did it scan as discounted (though plenty in stock). I left everything else on the shelf. I actually really like the GS sets, but we have to draw a line on physical sets we keep and well, even for resale, GS loses, even at 50% off. I don't want more PQ/Atlantis-esque albatrosses.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ #31006 is one I'd like as well. 2 of so I can make 2 of the cars. I'll be on clearance eventually at WM but probably not till after christmas or next summer.

I must live in an area full of people willing to pay full retail for Lego :-(
I've been checking my Target almost daily and while there are tons of 50% off clearance signs throughout the store, including many of the toy aisles, everything Lego is still full price.
