Don't have a lot of information yet on the set, but should be around €149.00

This is very early to find out, but much appreciated, thanks!

Oooh so many questions, but I'll settle with this for now: Is it a non-corner building (I assume so)?
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
Great, thanks @grogall! I hope it has a funky Metro stop entrance outside :-)

Well done @grogall for the early news. I bet people are now googling images of Parisian Restaurants. :-)

Guilty as charged! Most of the images I am seeing resemble Cafe Corner. Interesting.

I'm hoping that Lego is not specifically delaying the inevitable Police Precinct modular so as to avoid "another police station" backlash. I would much rather have that than a restaurant that sounds like a retreading of Cafe Corner.

That said, if there is a "little chef" rat in the trash outside the back, all will be forgiven.

@tensor I'm not worried. If they keep to the 'two normal then one corner' pattern we've seen so far, it'll be a non-corner building, and unlike CC it'll have an interior, so I think it'll be quite different :)
  • jasorjasor Member Posts: 839
IF it WAS corner, and DID resemble CC...how would that affect the Modular line for resale? Think people would still be completist?
  • PaperballparkPaperballpark Member Posts: 4,268
I really don't think TLG would do that. They're smart enough not to.

And will the price of the CMF waiters go up?

Given the 1930's theme they have running through the line, I kinda hope they style it on René's restaurant from 'Allo 'Allo. :)

    Good Moaning!

Already happened when Palace Cinema came out. It has slowed the increase of CC, but did not push it down any as far as I can tell.

@BrickDancer - I am curious. How does the Palace Cinema affect the CC? Other than both being corner pieces, do they have anything else in common?
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
Other than both being corners, the general appearance in terms of shape (corner tower) and color (Tan/Dark Red/Reddish Brown) are very similar. They easily could have chosen a different palate of colors if they wanted.

On another thread, there's a video of them side by side to illustrate how similar they are.

It ain't happening. If they do, it won't be a modular, it will be made to fit in with the City/Town theme. There's a Toy Section in GE, put your micro builds in there. It's a pipe dream buddy, give it up. There's nothing stopping you from making your own and putting it into your city block.

I don't know why but my gut is saying a Parisian restaurant will have lots of dark blue, maybe with pearl gold accents. Can't want to see pics!

@AdzBadBoy - All of the modular buildings are in a 1940s style. How would a Lego store modular fit into that?
  • pillpodpillpod Member Posts: 273
I'm hoping for dark blue or possibly dark orange. I wonder if it'll be the typical first floor retail/restaurant with a second floor apartment setup.

^ I doubt they'd do dark orange with Town Hall concurrently availability.
I'm guessing it'll be an apartment above. Maybe the top floor could be an artist's garret, with an easel, paintings, they could reuse the CMF painter's palette and brush.... I'm getting a bit carried away now... :-S
  • hoyatableshoyatables Member Posts: 873
Love it and perfect. Maybe they'll design the apartment above to mimic Gene Kelly's apartment in an American in Paris -- complete with a LEGO Murphy Bed!!! (And bonus points if they throw in Gene Kelly himself!)

I noticed a little pattern with the modulars
    2007: CC corner
2008: MS (yes i consider it a modular) split in two sections
    2009: GG full building
    2010: GE corner
2011: PS split in 2 sections
    2012: TH full building
    2013: PC corner

SO, 2014 might be split in 2 sections if we follow this pattern.

@lostintranslation: good point, I'm not sure how town hall slipped my mind. I think the back of the building will be a funny scene...maybe a dirty dumpster or leftover food.

They are worlds apart in architectural style. One is a faux-Chinese American cinema building while the other is typically European.

I don't think one could substitute for the other for any collector with an eye for architectural styles.

Well well well what do we have here! A restaurant! This is fantastic. I think TLG is showing a strong appreciation and effort for this line. I'm starting to see a good balance. I hope it's not a corner personally, as what I have will become a lot more symetrical but that's just my opinion.

It should definitely have a minifig with a stripey shirt, beret and a string of onions around the neck.

@HarryPotterLover, 2008 was GC, 2009 for the FB, 2 full buildings in a row

Darn it I knew something didn't seem right about that, sorry I thought of this weeks ago before this thread and it didn't seem right then either :p

I can see this not being as wide or deep as other modulars to accommodate an outdoor dining section and also so the $150 price point can be met with the ever decreasing piece count for the money.

Of course even though this will be a Parisian restaurant, the main dish will be pizza with a side of hot dog.

@HokieJoe99, if it is €149.00, it more likely be $199 like the TH, so should have healthy piece count
  • HardradaHardrada Member Posts: 439
Why? 149 EUR is the RRP of the likes of FB, GE and PS. TH costs more than 149 EUR at RRP in Europe.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
^ Right, I had in mind GBP, not EUR

I'm sure it will probably include baguettes and croissants, but I still think "pizza with a side of hot dog" is hilarious.

It'll be awesome having six active modulars for sale.
  • sjerakatsjerakat Member Posts: 27
^^ I read that as sarcasm, and I agree! Why are so many modulars simultaneously available right now? None were discontinued when Town Hall was released and now Palace Cinema has been available for several months and yet Fire Brigade, Emporium and Pet Shop are still readily available. I'm not a huge fan of extended shelf life on sets
  • BlueTacoBlueTaco Member Posts: 85
It will probably be beautiful, but I need to get FB, PS and the cinema before I even think about another modular. Too many great sets and not enough money.

^ I'm hoping for another sale or two so I can pick up some more extras for MOCing. Even though I have three Fire Brigades and an extra Grand Emporium and Pet Shop, they have a really good price per piece that is surely going away soon.
  • rancorbaitrancorbait Member Posts: 1,842
A few more modulars that would be cool are: post office, a drugstore and a barber shop. You can never have to many modulars :-)
