For Sale (soon) Classic Pirate [UK]

cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
Been asked to sell a bit of classic pirate lego for a family member and picked up the booty today! Will take me a while to go throug this lot but as you can see most of the sets are here, lots of multiples (at least four 6285 for example) some boxed, some unopened, some loose. Should all be in good condition as they were bought by an adult and havent been touched for about ten years. theres also armies (about 100 of each) of red soldiers, blue soldiers and pirates.

Will post up a full list with details of condition etc once i've had a good look but wanted to post now in case anyone was thinking about starting a collection. The hardest thing for me is going to be not buying it for myself. its a theme i always admired but never bought and having just built #6277 (for checking completeness of course!) i've already fallen in love with it.

given that im not actually selling anything yet, feel free to post about price value etc. ;-)

There are some crisp looking retail boxes there.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
^Yep, some are nice, some are pretty awful with packing tape over them. Still seeing the old flap fronted boxes, with all the minifigures in there little plastic compartments in a completely sealed box brings back some nice memories.

Anyway, having gone through it all these are the sets, most of the smaller ones are unboxed, most of the larger ones boxed but sometimes the boxes aren't in great condition.

Three posts in and nobody said arrr yet? That be a fine treasure trove you have there, landlubber.

Love it all, but not for me. Pirates is one of my "accidental" collections. I have about 2 1/2 #6285 s

Wasn't @piratemania after some new sets. I'm sure they'll float his boat.

^ To be honest I'm quite happy about that, still need to go through them and check completeness and condition (other than the few sealed sets). Possibly shouldn't have gone in marketplace yet, but it seemed the best place. And I have had a few PMs about them.

    Which of them are sealed?

^ Not many sadly. Only two so far:

#6280 - Although clearly it hasn't been 'opened' it isn't sealed as the single tape has popped off one side. The bags are still sealed inside and the blister pack which has the key parts in the window is still sealed. Its otherwise so immaculate I could probably glue it down and no one would suspect a think but I wouldn't want to be dishonest - maybe if it goes on ebay! (joke!).

And also the tiny #6232 which is completely sealed (box is a little dented though).

I'll post up pictures of those two tonight. Many others are in very good boxed condition, but this lot probably won't appeal too much to sealed box collectors - but those that just want to collect the whole series should be happy as the brick condition seems really good in the ones I've checked.

I have been looking for a #6263 - Imperial Outpost

PM when you have a chance and let me know condition asking price etc please.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
#6280 the seals on both sides are unstuck but it all looks sealed inside. quite a bit of wear on the corners but no dents, creases, holes. Why did lego stop the windowed flap boxes? Sure they must cost a little more but surely its not a big part of the set cost and they look so pretty. For a luxury toy it definately makes them feel more special. I wonder if they had problems with damaged stock?
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
#6232 box looks almost perfect to me, perforated seal intact, not sure why i thought it was dented, its not. Shame its about the smallest set imaginable. Why couldnt it have been a ship or large base!

Wow I'm just seeing all this! I'm going to have to delve into this deeper tonight...

Looks like he was pretty organized. The sets should sell well.

^ yes, it was all pretty well boxed up. Shame there aren't more lego boxes but nevermind. The best organised were the minifigs separate from the minifigs in sets. Each faction in its own RUB...

    There's roughly:

100 red soldiers (including a few officers),
110 blue soldiers (including a few officers)
    100 backpacks
    120 shako hats
    20 officer hats
    60 tricorn hats
about 200 shoulder boards (white, brown, yellow, blue and red)

30 pirates (including a few captains)
    brown tricorns
    red and blue bandanas
    70 cutlusses
    30 pistols
    80 rifles
    And a couple of skeletons.

Plus extra sharks, boats, crocodiles, cannon, treasure chests, barrels etc. Oh and I've just found an extra bag of minifigures too.

    @cheshirecat

Aargh, matey, that be a fine haul, and no mistakes.

Sure as I am that thar be a bricksetter with gold for teeth awaitin' to buy the whole trove of yer', I would still throw me' hat into the ring - pieces of eight! - if fortune should decree thar bein' any slim chance of a divvyin' up o' that thar booty, for tis the terrible truth of it that I'd love a chance of picking up some cannon and crew fer me very own ships.

For tis a sad tale that I tell, havin' forked out for the whole PotC line, only ta' discover treachery at tha' hands o tha' Lego group, landlubbers that they are, whom never saw fit to lay on the proper compliment of crew, cannon, or soldiery with which to make battle.

    Aargh!

If you haven't already, it maybe be worth popping over to the pirate forum on eurobricks. I'm sure someone would bite your hand off at the chance of that many classic imperial red/blue soldiers.
  • legomattlegomatt Member Posts: 2,543
^ Don't go telling him that, I want some soldiers... LOL

    :oP
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
@andhe - thanks its a good idea. They might also be interested in a lot of the unboxed sets that appeal more to them than to a collector.
  • legomattlegomatt Member Posts: 2,543
    @cheshirecat

I'll be pming again (later tonight hopefully) with a more comprehensive list of stuff i'm interested in - and not so much Pirate-Talk, in case i came across as not serious. :o)

I'm interested in all sorts of loose parts, figs, and some of the sets (don't care about boxes). (Or is the action over at eurobricks now?)
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
^No haven't signed up there yet. Still trying to get to grips with this lot to be honest.
  • legomattlegomatt Member Posts: 2,543
^Ah, cool, and i totally understand the mammoth task you have- i bet it's fun, though, in a crazy sort of way. :o)

(I'm not a member of eurobricks either, so I was unsure whether I might be posting to a redundant thread).

Right, I'll let you carry on with digging up yer booty!

@cheshirecat, will you be willing to post the items to UAE? A friend of mine there collects Pirate theme so we might be able to grab a few items from you.

If you want to save time sorting and checking them, I'll give you a fiver for the lot :-)

    ^ And that includes postage.

I just got to build a black seas baracuda, well a 10040. What an amazing set. Felt almost like a right of passage and just felt so legoish at every stage. Compared to my QAR and #6243 which I built yesterdaythis just felt so much better.

So as above there are four BSBs.

#6285 No box, no instructions. Still good condition. Sails have been sandwiched in cardboard up to keep flat.

#10040 boxed, a little damaged, no instructions, bricks in good condition. A little dust around some studs.

#6285 boxed, pretty good condition, instructions in very good condition. Bricks look lovely, sails flat.

#6285 boxed, excellent condition to my eyes, instructions lovely, original lego catalogue present, all internal compartments and even most/all bags. It was so carefully opened that it looks like it's still sealed. All the minifigs, cannon, flags are in their compartments. It's beautiful. Not MISB but as close as you'll get to it without it being MISB.

    I'll get photos up later.

Here are photos of the two boxed #6285s and the boxed #10040. Anyone seriously interested in them, PM me and ill get some more photos. the first #6285 box is really nice, no tape, no tares, no crushed corners or even shelf ware. the second box has a few edges where the glue has undone, including one at the main flap, otherwise in good condition. The actual bricks in both look brand new, still shiny. the #10040 box has a small tare down one side and a bit of damage where the tape has been undone. the bricks in that one are a little more dispkayed - dusty but undamaged.

A few people have asked about the two #6277 so here they are. Neither are boxed, the first has instructions in good condition, the second doesn't. Both are complete, with sails etc.

The first one is noticeably better. Pieces look really nice, almost no dust and no yellowing. There is a bit of a difference between the blue plastic base plate and the painted sea on the grey baseplate, but I suspect that is the way it always has been. Sails are peffect.

The second is still nice but the parts are a bit dustier and there is yellowing of the white parts and the grey faceplate. Some parts would be easily replaced and I'll replace the large imperial flag and small pirate flag. (I have dozens of spares!). On this set there is a small tear on one of the sails as shown in the photo.

Anyway here are some photos. If you want more let ne know.
