    Just thinking about why on earth Lego sets are released at different times throughout the world. Anticipation is sometimes unbearable. Made worse simply by the fact that I live in the UK :-P

    Got a lego hangover today after an indulgent sunday afternoon; a trip to the Westfield store, spoke nicely to the man at the till who let me redeem my expired chima set voucher and gave me a splinter keyring for my spend and then a jor-el too. I then spent the remainder of the day building city cafe and newbon foal with my 4 year old, then the summer scene poly, and, once she was tucked up in bed, eradicator mech.
    I wonder why work seems a little dull today?

    No new sets/figures interest you @samiam391 or are you just burnt out? I'm feeling the same way about selling.

    @Renny- A bit of both. Primarily on the selling end. I may pick up a set/minifigure here or there, but I am, as you said, burnt out.

    I've tried sizing down my collection to my "favorites", but even that hasn't seemed to help. A full out liquidation of almost all of my items might be coming soon.

    Wow, that would be quite a liquidation. I've discovered that reselling is the major contribution to my lack of enthusiasm towards buying and building a set for my own enjoyment. I have so much (to me anyway) sealed and put away for eventual sale that Lego loses it's appeal and just becomes a price tag.

    I think by only buying for enjoyment is the way to go to keep Lego fresh and exciting. Perhaps @samiam391 you can cut back or eliminate "reselling purchases" first and see how you feel about it?

    I might try it, but I do feel those dark ages calling. I try to keep my hobby completely funded by re-sale, but perhaps it's just to difficult for me to do that without looking at everything with a price tag. It's true that it does sort of ruin the collecting joy.

    I never thought it would happen to me (even the hint of dark ages), but here I am!

    @rancorbait - Thanks :o) A review of the AT-TE will probably be posted on Wednesday.

    As for a status, just last night I came across set #79010 Goblin King Battle sealed and ready to build while clearing out a cupboard. I forgot I even had it after waiting for the release of the film before I built it!

    @samiam391- I used to do some reselling and it just took the enjoyment out of lego for me, so now I only buy a few sets a year then build and display them. After those sets are discontinued I sell them and get the new ones.
    My colletion usually stays at around 30 to 40 sets.

    Bought the latest MF, then realized it wasn't that most interesting of a build, so im keeping it MISB for a few years, even though I just collect and don't really resell save some double CMFs and double polys I've gotten mostly through promotions

    @skeet318 - FYI, you can edit your comments within 6 minutes by clicking on the cog-wheel-thing on the right of your comment, rather than making several posts in quick succession.

    My status is: too many MOC ideas, not enough focus. And I'm trying to save money and cut back on buying sets but somehow when I MOC I find I have to place several little BL orders for parts that I *absolutely must have* to make the MOC complete... :-S

    "MF" being #7965? I thought it was a pretty interesting build. Some parts aren't, but rarely is an entire build process interesting.

    Won a 17lb lot of LEGO on shopgoodwill last night for $151 that from the pictures looks like it might have most of a Town Plan plus a bunch of other stuff. Picking it up tomorrow morning so I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

    Also started building the 4x4 crawler last night and really enjoying it. Watching the complex technic stuff come together is fun.

    I just directed a friend to Bricklink, as she was looking for a good way to find some CMFs her son wants. Her reaction was "this site looks like fun."

    I feel very very wrong right now.

    Yeah, #7965, and I always do my best to see all of the detail and shape and things that make builds more intricate, but it just wasn't the set for me, I'm not entirely sure how the aftermarket will be on that one though

    #7965 Falcon should do relatively well I think. It depends on when it actually retires and how soon Lego release another version. It's the most iconic ship in the SW universe and it comes with a nice group of mini figures. I could be wrong but I don't think "build experience" plays a role in aftermarket value. By that I mean that kids will want the Falcon no matter what if they have their mind set on it.

    Curious though, has there been an example of a popular set that tanked aftermarket wise just because the build was boring? I know there have been flops but most of those I think have been due to boring subject matter or a re-release.

    I have started the search for a new house. Much harder in New Orleans then you would think. Not only do I have to think about my ever growing LEGO collection but my 14,000 comic books and over 500 pages of original comic book art. Unlike Ohio, houses dont come with basements down here for obvious reasons so space is at a premium down here. Thinking about protecting my collections from the hurricanes, storms and floods is enough to keep you up at night. I did see where they have out building you can buy that float incase of a flood....might have to look into that.

    You can't put a price tag on fun, I used to be the same with cars, great investments but if you buy them only to make money you start to get a bit precious with them and they never get used, takes the enjoyment out of it then. The fun far outweighs price tag once you start using them as intended and Lego is much the same. It's a toy not an investment.

    Just finished building the creator lighthouse #5770 - built the other two models last week and left it a few days before starting the main model. I really enjoyed this one and it looks great in the end! Kind of disappointed it's complete!

    Now to decide whether I build another one of my bought from ebay so hopefully all pieces there creator houses I've not built yet or to crack open the #10226 Sopwith camel - I've got a #3451 looking lonely on it's own...

    My son and I returned home very late last night from a few days in Philly and Washington, DC. Self imposed ban on social media sites for several days. Only sightseeing and Rolling Stones concerts allowed- The Rolling Stones baby!!! Great concerts, great museums, great food, great fun. Now sitting down to get caught up on the hundreds of Lego posts I've missed. Gee, it's good to be home!!!!!

    In the time span between me waging war against the dark ages and saying I was going to crack open a re-sale set I've...

    ...Cracked open #4202 for a small and enjoyable build that led me to...

    ...Finally and definitively decided to Purchase Tower of Orthnac with my saved VIP points (as soon as the Hot Dog Stand promotion begins)...

    ...and then I noticed and purchased a Black Pearl (a set I had always wanted but never pulled the trigger on)...

    ...which led me to browse eBay real quick where I stumbled upon and bought a newly listed 100% complete Green Grocer for $250...

    Is there such thing as over compensation for thinking you may be entering the dark ages?

    I was meaning to touch on both subjects, not that it'll tank because of the build (thats my opinion), but as also curious to get insight on that set
