I notice on the home page today that set
#7641 City Corner is being re-released as
#60031. Its good to see this set coming back - another Lego bus for my collection! and it should sit nicely with the new town plan set. I wasn't aware this set was returning, any idea on release dates?

The bigger news would be that Lego is re-releasing a previously retired set, as an exact duplicate. We have rarely seen that since the days of the Legends series.
However, on the other if this is true (and isn't some form of either error or spoof) it would seem a very odd decision alongside the new Town Square set #60026, which also has a bus, a pizza shop and a bike shop (plus the somewhat out of place crane). I guess they are at different price point but cannot help thinking that one would cannibalise sales of the other.

Must admit, a re-release does seem strange...

I can only think of two possible explanations:
1) there is some piece or pieces unique (or semi-unique) to this set that LEGO has in large enough quantity to warrant re-releasing the set to dump them off (the baseplates maybe?)
2) they are cancelling the production of #60026 for some reason and pushing this out instead as a passable replacement.
I dunno. just really weird.
It's in a big thick box like #4207; has the look and feel of a big substantial set (more so than #7641 did in the thinner box).
the "unique" parts TLG may have a lot of left over : definitely the 8 x 16 baseplates!
City Corner is a good set. My family already has one but I don't mind the idea of a re-release one bit.

It is being advertised as a store exclusive (which is fairly rare in Denmark).
(This still doesn't make much sense at all seeing that they just did #7641 on steroids - with regards to size and price - at the same time. Makes the decision to have another pizzeria and bike shop in #60026 even more lousy.)
